Before updating software (10.6.8), in Mail, clicking a message in the inbox caused the message to appear in its own separate window-- not just in the pane below the inbox. I'm not sure why this function is no longer available. I guess I could delete Preferences (where?) and see if that does it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently realized that I no longer have the Startup Disk preference pane in the Preference Panel. I sometimes boot from other drives and now I'm forced to hold down the option key at restart or startup instead of being able to select the startup drive through the Startup Disk pane.

After clicking on 'get mail' the download bar shows activity but no mail is downloaded to the inbox. Checked to see if for some reason mail is being downloaded to another box but not so.I know that mail is being sent because I can receive it on my iphone under same email address.Email was working ok until yesterday when this started happening. Not sure what to check or how to correct.

One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail.  The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.Â
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.Â

While working with my ISP on a mail problem I deleted all of the messages from Inbox and Sent.Â
I maintain regular backups so I have the messages there. They are located at User/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/POP-(me)@pop-server. . . . Â
How do I restore them to Mail's Inbox and Sent respectively?Â
I have just set up mail and every now and then the entire inbox just vanishes.Â

In the OS7 Mail Inbox window, along the top of the message section with from and date and subject, there is a little box with two opposing arrows. What is this for?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSome of my mail is not showing up in my inbox on my Mac but came through on my phone. Am using imap so it should not have deleted from the server...and I have never have had this problem before.Â
It seems to be working again now, but there are 5 or so emails that just will not come through to my Mac inbox even though I can see them in the inbox on my phone...important work emails....concerned this may happen again and something will slip through the net.Â

Our work email recently migrated over to Google apps. I still I access it via Mail like I always have. There's an email that I get every week from a coworker with a .png attachment. All of a sudden, I can't see the attachment and it says "missing plug-in". When I log-in through Google Apps, it's there. Any idea what's going on?Â

I closed the Mail application for a software update and now the icon is missing. When I tried to restore it from applications, I got an error message that said Mail 3.6 was not supported by Mac OSX (lion 10.7.3) What to do? I tried to follow the technical support stuff, but it did not make sense. I also tried to restore from Time Capsule, and still got the same error message.

Mail [snow leop] stops displaying messages in viewer window until I open a new viewer window. That is the message text in the right window section does not show. I have looked for an item in Preferences and find nothing relating to this. This is an issue that occurs more often now. What need I do?

A couple of days ago I began getting a message in incoming Mail messages that have a graphic file attached -- the message says "Missing Plug In" and the graphic file won't be displayed (if it was sent as part of the body of the email message). Â The "Missing Plug In" message appears where the graphc would normally be displayed.Â
If I quit Mail and restart, the same emails are now displaying the embedded graphic files -- so apparently the Plug In is not missing. It appears to just stop working at random times. Restarting Mail solves the problem temporarily, then it begins happening again.  I know nothing about Mail Plug Ins -- is there anything I can do to correct this Missing Plug In issue?Â

I use Apple's Mail program and also my school's webmail (outlook.com) in conjuction to check my school email. However, for some strange reason, my inbox on outlook.com will only hold up to 2 weeks of mail. My inbox in Mail will still be intact, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out why my webmail inbox is disappearing. I've checked every possible setting on outlook.com to no avail. I've also checked Mail's settings, but haven't seen anything as far as deleting older mail. BTW, we're allowed 25 gigs on outlook.com so they shouldn't be deleting them automatically.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMail 3.6 on 10.5.8 deletes old inbox messages after about 60 days, can't find a setting that is causing this gremlin. Changed from POP to Exchange account a few weeks ago and problems seem to have started then. I had no issues like this using POP account.

I've come here because I searched for the names of these .plist files on the net and got no results whatsover - ZERO. Drive Genius 3 picks out the following .plist files as corrupt, on a fairly regular basis. When I delete them, they come back pretty quickly, and the first I hear about it is when DG3 points them out to me again - only days later:Â
/Users/Kev/Library/Preferences/com.Incoradial.Stomatic.plist: Unexpected character at line 1 Â
/Users/kev/Library/Preferences/com.Datawise.Mousquetaire.plist: Unexpected character at line 1 Â
I am not experiencing any strange behaviour that I could link to the presence of these files, I'm just curious at to where they orginate from and why they get picked up as possibly corrupt so quickly?Like I say a quick search on the net brings up nothing at all for the names of these files. Sometimes there are about 3 more - but they all have names that I cannot relate to any applications I have on the Mac?I had noticed some wierd looking preference files before when using MainMenu and seeing the list as it was processing the batch tasks - but never got round to investigating it properly.

After installing Lepord 10.7.4 I have lost the Display resolution except for 1920 x 1200 and 960 x 600. Neither of these is acceptable for my iMac. Before downloading 10.7.4 I had all kinds of resolutions shown in System Preference Display. How can I can I get back to them?

I want to have rule that automatically moves email from my Inbox to a folder On my Mac after I reply to a message. This functionality is built into Smart Mailboxes but those won't actually move the email anywhere. Can this be done or is their a plugin/script out there perhaps?

I cannot move more than one email (if that) out of the inbox to folders designated "On My Mac" - see first screenshot. Why? Another problem I have run into is that clicking on the '?' on the error message gives me a blank page in Viewer - see second screenshot.

We have two email addresses (one for myself and one for my spouse). In one account the e-mails now seem to "appear" twice in that inbox since Snow Leopard. However, when we move the email to another folder, only one moves and the phantom one disappears. This is annoying. Any thoughts of what we might do?
I have absolutely no idea how it happened but i have suddenly got upwards of 1000 deleted emails showing in my Inbox, greyed-out. I cant move them or do anything else with them, much less remove them.Â
I tried Cmd-Z when it happened, nothing happened, then I listed them by sender (Facebook) and tried to move them to Trash with no luck either. Â

I activated my gmail on my macbook pro (new mac user, older macbook). I can send messages no problem and I can see them in "sent" folder and receive them on other devices. But, I am not receiving messages to the inbox on the mac book mail. I was told to remove the account and then reinstall it, but I can't figure out how to remove it. Where I can enable mail so I can receive messages?
