OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Remove Autorun.exe (W32/SillyFDC-DU | Trojan.Win32.Agent.aec)?
May 8, 2012
Apparently my mac is holding a Windows Trojan. It probably got on my mac through a USB device when uploading things to desktop. The file itself hasn't been touched since 2006...pretty darn old usb/trojan. I have both Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Sophos (installed after Kaspersky was unable to disenfect) which apparently quarantined the file but can not be deleted. The file autorun.exe is hidden in a folder RECYCLER in the desktop. I've used the Terminal to show the file. I've checked its info and it's already unlocked and privilege is Read & Write. Whenever I throw the whole folder into the trash and attempt to empty, I receive error message "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." If I drag the file seperate from folder into the trash, I receive the prompt to enter my security question (was never prompted this for any other file). After entering password, it makes the sound that something went it. The Trash however is empty, and the file remains in the RECYCLER folder in the desktop.
How can I tell if my computer has been infected with this latest Trojan (or with any Trojan)? I did install the latest update to Java when I was told by my iMac that new software was available for my computer, which was just 2 or 3 days ago (first week of April). Now it is being said that there was a Java Trojan.
I´m a OS X 10.5.8. user. Now my iMac is infected with the flashback trojan. Especially my gmx mail-account is forwarding spam-massages. What do I have to do?
If 10.5 is up to date, is it vunerable to the Flashback.G Trojan that was reported on 2/24? All of the news items about this speak only of 10.6 or 10.7. They imply that if OS X is up to date, then there are no worries.
I just recently updated to 10.6.3 which, as far as I know does not have built-in protection from stuff like Flashback Trojan. When I click on "Software Update" all I get is an inactive, blank screen. I was told that if I clicked on that I would be able to download Apple's patch preventing this from infecting my iMac.
I'm getting the following report from LS on startup: ".sunupdate wants to connect to the following... then followed by a series of nonsense URLs: vxvhwcixcxqxd.com; stxeapbewbblp.com; and tygoiuoigwodd.com and then all again as .info/.net. What's going on?I've denied those connections in LS, but am now worried as I've heard about the Flashback trojan. I've also run through the Terminal commands to check and see if I'm infected, but those come back clean (or at least the instructions I followed for the '.K' version did... I don't know of any other check for other kinds).I've also written down the info for IP addresses, rev DNS names, process numbers, etc. that came along with the LS alert. But thought I'd better find out if it's a worry before typing in all that info.
I noticed a couple times that the green light has been coming on for my webcam on my iMac. Are there any known trojans/viruses that can do this? Is there a way to determine if this is indeed occurring?

I want to disable t-mobile's connection application from popping up everytime i plug in the 3g modem device. i'm connecting through mac os'x native interface so i don't need the heavy connection application from t-mobile.
the 3g modem device presents itself also as a storage device so, a dmg present in the usb file system is fired as the usb device is plugged.
I just had back surgery and the i asked to doctor for a copy of the MRIs i had done.Unfortunately the disk is for Windows. is there any way to open and run the program?
I have successfully created an autorun (DVD/USB-STICK) image of my bands EPK (Electronic Press Kit) for Windows. However I also need it to autorun on OSX too.
On my autorun image is a portable version of Google Chrome, a portable version of Safari and a stripped down version of our website [URL] with all the supporting video, audio and images. When the DVD or USB-STICK is inserted into a PC, the site is loaded into Chrome portable. This works great!
I am not a OSX guy (though I hope to be one day soon). So I need some help/advice regarding how to make the same DVD/USB-STICK work on a Mac.
I have found a Mac version of Portable Chrome in a .dmg format here:[URL]
I have also found a Mac version of Portable Safari in a .dmg format here:[URL]
And I found info on dual OS AutoStart/AutoRun here: [URL]
Now to just combine them. That's where the confusion for me comes in for me. The main question I have is how to autostart either portable versions of Safari or Chrome from the DVD/USB-STICK? Is the .dmg image executable?
One last note: I need Chrome or Safari because I am using the HTML 5 <video> tag.
I'm looking for a way to "Open at Login" various programs I have in my dock without opening the main window (like Mail, Skype, MSN and so on). Any idea?
Since downloading 10.5.1, I have had the message below pop up about every half hour. Almost every time, I click "Report...." to send to failure to Apple. I have also tried clicking "Relaunch," but that done nothing to fix the problem. Half an hour later, the popup comes back again. It has happened now more times than I can count. I have tried to research what this application is, but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this or to at least get rid of the pop up?
turning on the Seagate HDD that I have, I have been using it in Windows with Mac Drive where it is usually picked up (although says it is bad but OS X didn't so IDK if it was or Mac Drive is pissing around) but it works now today the drive won't turn on, no light no nothing Is there a way to find out if it is actually dead as if I have lost my work (all my college work, iTunes, pictures etc etc) I will go ****ing mental as I'd have lost $500 and ?100 odd iTunes (most was backed up on a previous drive which also died (WD though)') and un-replacable documents/pictures.
When a user logs in, or tries to, it brings up Kerberos Agent and asks for a password. Anything you enter results in taking you back to the login screen? How do I disable this - all macs are running off of a Panther Server for login options.
I bought a Seagate Free Agent Go--for pc and i have a mac. My mac will recognize it but i can't use it. I have tried installing it myself and have tried to follow someones instructions but nothing is working. Is it possible to change the format or am i going to have to buy a new one that works for mac?
I'm using a Mac OS X Server ver 10.4.3 and I've installed the Veritas MacOS X agent for remote backup called "be_agnt.tar".
We have been able to run succesful backups for some time now (Using Backup Exec 9.1 for Windows Servers installed on a win2k server) but a few days ago I applied a service pack to the backup exec software (SP4) and now I can't connect to the remote agent from my backup exec server.
This is only true for backups and restores since I still can make selections of what data to backup thru the agent.
I am running Yosemite, everything is up to date! Tried to reset keychain and it did not work, tried different methods which were posted on other blogs and nothing seems to get rid of this message. It pops up every time I login to my MacBook Pro.
