I just received a Security Update notification and because of all the recent hoo-ha about malware/Adobe Flash Player, I'm unsure about downloading these two items. This is mainly because I've not received these before:
Flashback Removal Security Update
Leopard Security Update 2012
Info:
macBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
This popped up today, I did a search and didn't see anything about it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't install neither Security Update 2012-003 nor Flashback Removal Update. The installer says the software cannot be installed on my machine. I am on a G5 (PPC) iMac running OSX 10.5.8. What's going wrong? By the way, automatic software update did not find any updates for me. I had to download the updates manually from Apple's software support page.

I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.

Warning: All working fine the last month until security update 3-18-08 totally wrecked system - cannot boot - recommend cloning to separate disk before attempting. Never had this occur with mac update. Many times with Windows.

Ran Software Update on mother's iMac (20"/2.0GHZ/1GB/250GB - at least 200GB free, running 10.4). Many updates (Safari, Flash, Security Update, whose number I did not get...). Message that one update could not be installed, did not say which one. Computer will no start up (grey screen).
Started up from Disk 1, repaired Permissions, ran Disk Repair, which indicated no repairs needed. Removed only peripheral (ADSL modem) & ran Safe Boot; it stalls. Last four lines are.
My mac will not automatically detect displays, and even sometimes requires a restart. I've reset SMC, PRAM, repaired permissions, and cleared the caches.
View 11 Replies View RelatedSoftware Update just prompted me with an update for iTunes and a Security Update without thinking about it since they are apple updates I did them. After restarting every single application that utilizes a SSL certificate from Keychain is prompting me saying that the SSL Certificate has an invalid issuer. This includes SSL certificates from Apple themselves ( mobile me, apple.com etc.. ). Anyone else having this issue or is it just my computer being massively screwy?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHopefully someone here has an idea what's going on with this machine. I haven't had much trouble with the Macs I've owned, so I don't have a lot of experience with troubleshooting.
I got on my friend's iBook yesterday and noticed she hadn't installed any updates in a while. This is a 500 Mhz G3 iBook running OS X 10.4. So I went through all of the udates and installed everything, and today none of the Apple branded applications will open. iChat, Safari, etc. will bounce a few times on the dock when you click on them, but they won't open. I tried running disk utility but when it opens it says a background process that needs to be running did not start properly and then it crashes and I have to force Disk Utility to quit. My friend doesn't have the original Tiger disks, as the person she bought the computer from just installed Tiger on the computer and kept the disks (I know, I would have advised her against a sale like this if I had known about it).
But anyway, the computer has worked just fine until this last update. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be or how we might go about fixing it without Disk Utilit?
after install, only get the spinning card- no startup. tried all startup key combinations and zapped PRAM. also ran disc utility and hardware check- hardware is fine all I get is nothing. noticed others reporting problems with the update on another thread, but my mac won't even start up. do not want to have to reinstall OS and 3rd party apps. any suggestions? would it help to take to apple store geniuses- can they somehow bypass the update and get it started up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhile trying to download the latest security update I received a message telling me the update failed and it had been sent to the trash. The trash was empty and I now didn't have enough free disk space to retry the download so I decided to reboot my computer to free up some disk space. I haven't been able to reboot it since. While booting it gets stuck on the 'starting mac os' screen. I've reset the pram and I've done disk and permission repairs and have tried to start it in safe mode, but it won't. While holding the shift key to get to safe mode It still gets stuck on the same screen (though it takes a few more minutes to get there). I don't have the right version of the start up disk as apple replaced my computer but didn't give me a new start up disk.

View 4 Replies View RelatedYe olde iMac G3 DV 400 running 10.4.11 has been "booting" for like 20 minutes now.
I installed a bunch of updates (Java, QT 7.4.x, iTunes cell phone support, the security update and one that has to do with firewire, ethernet and DVDs (don't remember the name)).
Is it suicidal to restart the machine using either the handy restart button or by holding the power button for 5 secs?
