MacBook Pro :: All Of Sudden (5) Key Doesn't Work
Dec 11, 2014These problem occur in a late 2013 Macbook Pro. All of sudden my "5" key doesn't work. But if I press any other number, I will get that number and the "5". All other keys work properly. Other symptoms include a running series of 5s in password boxes. I'm absolutely sure there is no water damage. Usb keyboard works fine. Another symptom is an occasional flickering menu when I pull down say Safari or the Apple icon, such that I can't make a selection. I took the 5 keypad off and it looks and reacts just fine. About 10% of the time this problem disappears. Did a virus scan. I'm running Yosemite.

Feb 14, 2012I have used my Imac for about six months without any problems.  All in a sudden it does not always reconect to my router after getting into sleeping mode (not always, but around 8 of 10 times it does not reconect). I have to click on my router that are listed among other routers that it picks up in the neighbours. Â
Imac is of course setup to automatically reconnect to my router in the settings. Â
I have restarted my router as well, and also renamed the router as well to be be sure there are no conflicts. My Router is a Thomson TG789vnÂ

ICloud :: Receiving Calendar Changed Via Email All The Sudden
Mar 15, 2012I am receiving emails every time my wife makes a change to her calendar which I am subscibed to. This did not happen before we recently upgraded our phone software, maybe thats involved, maybe not. I have checked and it appeears all of the boxes are unchecked that say "send email when there's a change". She is making the changes on her Macbook Pro.

OS X :: Sudden Log Out In Snow Leopard?
Sep 4, 2009other people are being spontaneously logged out of 10.6, faced with a blue screen, and then the login window. In my case it is caused by connecting my bluetooth (BT) headphones, as the log below states.
Short of never using my BT headphones or any other peripherals, has anyone found a solution to this terrible bug?
Comments like "[Many applications shut down here]" are added to show that the log is just repeating with different applications.
Mac Pro :: Snow Leopard Sudden Slowdowns
Apr 8, 2010Over the last three months, the OSX side of my Mac Pro has been a pain to use. I say � OSX side � because my Bootcamp partition which is running Windows 7 on a dedicated Intel X-25M is running very smooth and is a pleasure to use. However, on the Mac side, the system is simply unusable. I have been getting endless beachballs and constant freezes when launching Safari, iPhoto and iMovie 09� (the latter is the worst). I�ve tried resetting my PRAM, resetting the video management controller and doing an archive install of Snow Leopard and nothing has helped. I�ve followed previous advice and tried cloning my SSD Boot Drive onto another HDD which was completely free in my system. Booting from the cloned HDD showed better performance i.e. no beachballs. However with time, the issue has started again. So it seems it is not related to the SSD but rather to the OS which makes me think that I will have to do a clean install of Snow Leopard. Now, my Mac HDD�s are set up as follows:
1: Intel X-25M 80GB G2 SSD Boot Drive
2: Hitachi 640GB Apple Stock HDD (clone of SSD Boot Drive)
3: Western Digital 1.5TB (Home folder located on this disk)
*Note: I�ve also tried creating other user accounts but it seems the problem persists on all user accounts. The problem is I will be starting a very important project with Photoshop next month and I want this problem to be solved. So I�m thinking this is my best option:
Secure erase my SSD with instructions from Macforums
Reinstall Snow Leopard onto this drive
Clone the Hitachi Drive onto the SSD

MacBook Pro :: Why Doesn't Email Accounts Mirror On It And IPhone
May 18, 2012I have my mobile me email account but I also have 2 business email accounts that are linked to my Mac as well as my iPhone 4s. BUT the iCloud mobile me email is ok but my 2 business emails do not mirror at all. iPhone and Mac are completely separate.Â
I have tried deleting the business emails from my phone then in 'info' in iTunes when the phone is connected I have tried syncing email accounts as well as 'replace mail accounts' in the 'advanced' section.Â
When I do this it loads the messages from the accounts as unread emails. However on my mac each account has 27 emails in each account. When the phone syncs the accounts 1 email has 123 messages and the other 61.
Deleting messages from Mac or iPhone makes no difference in mirroring. Is there any way to get my 2 business accounts to mirror on both devices. As you can understand it is very frustrating having differing messages on both devices.

OS X :: Snow Leopard Sudden Blue Screen Crash?
Sep 28, 2009I am on a brand new 3.06 GHz iMac. Installed Snow Leopard, 10.6.1. In general I don't experience any of the problems other people seem to have. But twice now my screen has turned blue while I am in the middle of something. All the open apps disappear and the Finder seems to relaunch. It only takes a few seconds. I don't have steps to reproduce it. Both times I had several apps open and had video/DVD running in the background.
Has anybody seen this?
I am a notorious file-saver which means I haven't lost much work through this but if it keeps happening I might have to go back to Leopard.

In Finder, this means that the mouse would move around the last-selected object. It is impossible to put the object down and so impossible to operate the Mac. Restart doesn't help.I turned off the wireless devices, replaced the wireless keyboard and trackpad with old, wired keyboard and mouse, and restarted. Normal operation was restored. Tried putting back the the keyboard, but pointing was disabled the instant I re-enabled Bluetooth. Now stuck permanently as if in mouse-up state, so impossible to operate. Fail.Temporarily OK with wired keyboard and mouse. Ihow to return the system to wireless keyboard and trackpad operation?

Apr 13, 2012Sometimes I can send mail and sometimes I cant. When I can't I sometimes get the 'problem with outgoing server address' message, but the address is correct. Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin.

ICloud :: Search In Email Doesn't Ever Work
May 22, 2012for over a month I have been unable to use search in email on the icloud. If I search for ANYTHING at all, eventually it comes back saying it can not download emails. The email list is blank. Then, even after deleting the search criterai, I can see no emails whatsoever anywhere, not in Sent, not in Trash, and not in Inbound. The only way I can see emails again is to log out and log back in again. Email on the icloud has been like going back 10 yrs in functionality. It has been painfully slow and I see the Can not Load message frequently. All of this is while using my Macbook Pro.

Mar 26, 2012I've had this email account with AT&T for a few years and it has worked with Mac Mail with no difficulty for a few years. Recently the account has been able to receive messages. Every time I hit Get Mail it asks for a password. I have installed all the latest updates through Software Update. I have a Mac Mini with OS Lion. After struggling for awhile, my inbox eventually comes in. I have reset all the incoming and outgoing POP Server accounts, as well as used the Web-mail version through [URL] and it all works fine.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Pop Email Picked Up On IPhone Doesn't Appear On Desktop?
Jun 9, 2012When I pick up my pop email (thru apple mail) on my iPhone, it doesn't appear in Apple Mail on my desktop. I don't delete it and have to rules or prefs that tell Mail to delete it or remove it from the server.
When I use Thunderbird on my desktop, that doesn't happen. In other words, I open Apple Mail on my phone and read my email. Then later I open Thunderbird on my desktop and the mail is still there. Open Apple Mail on my desktop, the mail is gone.
Just because I read an email on my phone, doesn't mean I don't want it in a folder on my desktop.

I shut down the iMac every evening, without shutting down Mail. Mail opens on startup, as expected. However, my list of emails is not current, with the latest email from about 1AM that morning. I know this is the case because I see many more recent emails on my iPhone. When I quit Mail and restart it, all the emails show up. How I can get Mail back to its old behavior, namely showing me all emails in my inbox on startup? Â

Getting Alert from Yahoo stating "you are about to sync the following info with Yahoo .contacts. What would you like to do? #1 option Merge data on this computer{MBP} & Yahoo!#2 option Replace data on this computer! I went in my MBP hard drive and deleted sync entries for Yahoo about 3-4 times-they just keep appearing after I get the "ALERT" notification every few hours.Check my Yahoo acct and there is no Alert listed.This I know is a big PAIN.SUGGESTIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Apr 9, 2009I installed gmail on my verizon blackberry curve. I have gmail set to automatically receive my school email, (penn state university). The problem is, it take a long time to receive on my phone, it does not push it immediately. Additionally, gmail doesn't check it very often, I usually need to go into the settings and hit the "check mail now" button. Is this normal? I thought I would be able to get my emails immediately.

I have inserted the dvd and tried to install it but there seems to be a problem as it is written: "Time remaining about 45 minutes" and this doesn't change. The dvd has been running for over 2 hours now and I don't know what to do nor what is going on? I understood installation with Snow Leopard should be faster. Is it normal that it takes so long to install the operating system (more than 2 hours)? It should just be an upgrade as I have Leopard already installed. I also have Windows Vista installed on a disk partition. Does that make any problem? It shouldn't as at the beginning of the installation I chose Macintosh HD.

Apr 14, 20121. tried deleting Airport and then re-adding then clicking apply. Worked the very first time I tried this and it has only worked twice since.
2. tried allowing all incoming connections, worked once now problem still persists.
3. Tried re-starting router, this has never worked
4. There was a post about deleting a file, the person said they were instructed by apple care to do this, that didn't work either. Â
- Seems to only do this when the computer is on sleep mode
- everything else in the house connects fine to the internet
- this problem does not only happen in my house, it happens at coffee shops etc
- sometimes it is able to connect via tethering off my iphone
- this was a problem 2 years ago on this computer, then it was fine for 2 years and now it's back!Â
