OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Set English Language In Other Regions?
Apr 15, 2012
When I first installed Snow Leopard, I selected Italy as region but with english language. As a result, under Language & Text in System Preferences, my region in the Formats was set to "Italy (English)", that is the italian format but with months and days names in english.I accidentally changed that setting and selected "Italy (Italian)" and now I see months and days names in italian but with system language set to english.I tried to restore the original setting, but there is no "Italy (English)" option under regions.I also tried to change in italian the system language and then change it back to english, but the days names are still in italian. Aside from defining a Custom format, is there a way to restore the "Italy (English)" original setting?

I have a around 45 OS X 10.4.11 clients in a school that I have recently installed iWorks 09 on and through this I have realised that the clients language is set to English (US) which is causing some issues in the spell checker. Â I don't fancy changing the language on all of them manually so I was wondering if it was possible to write a script in AppleScript that would do this for me..

Apologies if this is in the wrong place for this question, but I've just bought a new MacBook Pro with 10.5.7 and put in a DVD - and got the "change region" prompt.
Having lived on and bought region-specific (because I had no choice) dvds on at least three continents, I can see that I will soon find myself unable to watch dvds on my laptop.
Surely there must be a way to unlock the drive? I don't want to buy an external drive. I'm even surprised this region business still exists. Presumably it's a way of forcing consumers to download pirated copies of movies once their drive has locked?

I changed my language from English to Vietnamese. My computer went on sleep. When I tried to log on, it didn't show up the dots(for the password field). I'm thinking the language change has messed up the keyboards!I really need to log on my computer as soon as possible.By the way, I changed the language to Vietnamese VNI.

Under Language & Text there are 4 tabs:
Language
Text
Formats
Input Sources
I have added a language under the first tab, Language, only to find that there is no correspondingly supported input option under the fourth tab, Input Sources.
I would now like to remove the entry I added under the first tab, Langauge, but cannot figure out how to do this. I have tried highlighting and pressing delete, dragging it out of the window, etc., but so far nothing works.

... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.

I have a Snow Leopard Install Disk for the 13-inch Macbook Pro model.I also have a 21-inch iMac. I have OS X Lion installed on both. I have Snow Leopard installed as a partition on my Macbook Pro, which I installed via the install disk. I want to do the same thing for my iMac but I am unable due to (seemingly) my install disk is for a Macbook Pro and not for an iMac.

"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. I deleted Photoshop CS and tried to re-install it from the original CD, but the installation never proceeds because I get an error message entitled: "Install Adobe Photoshop CS quit unexpectedly". This is the full error message:Â
