OS X :: Unable To Use MultiClutch For Mac?
Apr 22, 2009I installed MultiClutch on my Mac. Now I am wondering how to use it so that when I open multiple tabs in Firefox, I can 3-finger swipe to switch between them.
View 2 RepliesI installed MultiClutch on my Mac. Now I am wondering how to use it so that when I open multiple tabs in Firefox, I can 3-finger swipe to switch between them.
View 2 RepliesI installed MultiClutch several Times on my MBA. It just won't work. I added applications like Firefox or iTunes, then I chose gesture and key command.
I restarted the application, nothing happend. Also, I tried it with global gestures, same here.
Multitouch is working where it has to (iPhoto, Safari ... ). So what else can I try to fix it? It is a great thing to wirte such a programm, but on my MBA it is not working.
I need help with Multiclutch. How can I find out what the keyboard commands are for things I want to do? I know that some of them show up in the menus at the top, but not everything does, or at least I am not seeing it.
The one I am specifically looking for right now is switching between tabs in Firefox. What key combo would I use for that? Another one I am looking for is undo close tab.
Are there any other key combos you can think of that might not be obvious, but might be something someone would want to know about?
Multiclutch isn't supposed to work in iTunes since it's a Carbon app and Multiclutch only supports Cocoa apps, right?
Well, the past hour, multiclutch has been working just fine in iTunes.
Swipes assigned to previous/next track.
Rotates to volume controls.
etc...
I find this weird because a month ago, it didn't work and I'm still in the same beta version. How is this possible?
I have been waiting to get a MBP for about 2 months now and I finally got one. One of the first apps I made sure to get was Multiclutch. This is easily the sickest app on the MBP.
In case anyone doesnt know, multiclutch extends the multitouch feature on the trackpads on new MBPs and MBA.
Extends is really too small a word though, because before, the gestures dont do a damn thing. Any way, a little tinkering around with multiclutch and I think I pretty much have the lay of the land.
First thing is first- global applications: these are your bread and butter in multiclutch. set up some good ones that will help u with anything. some that are good are:
swipe down -cmd-H -hides current window
zoom out -cmd-Q -quits current application
and I like Rotate left -cmd-W - closes current window- ill get more into that one in a minute.
these should get u started and used to multiclutch and most importantly global gestures will affect programs that wouldnt usually be affected by multiclutch such as carbon apps (itunes and finder especially).
IMPORTANT: if you try to put gestures in itunes or any other carbon app remember to reset the shortcut for the global apps and the app will be able to use some gestures again
next most important application for gestures: firefox- or your browser of choice. These ones work great and really streamline the browsing experience. im still toying with these a little but the ones i have now are:
rotate right -cmd-T- new tab
rotate left -cmd-W -this and the global app with the same function for the same gesture really work great together. in firefox cmd-W will close ur current tab and in global it will close ur current window- really intuitive and helpful
zoom in -cmd-shift-T -opens ur most recently closed tab-good for when u accidentally rotate left
swipe right- cmd ] - forward
swipe left -cmd [ -back -saves a lot of time
obviously these firefox ones are not completely ideal because it would be nice to switch tabs when u want to as well, but the other gestures dont really work for switch tab, and the goal is really to make the gestures something simple and obvious.
that said i am tinkering with moving back to swipe up and then just having left right be for switching -so far its not really working because the combo for previous tab is set to the same button combo as the little app switcher thingie.
anyway clearly more work needs to be put in, but i just got my MBP a few days ago, so im constantly trying out new gestures for different actions.
If anyone has any gestures they think are good please share them, or if anyone thinks they know some better ones than the ones i point out.
I installed Snow Leopard last night, and I found the biggest problem for me. MultiClutch does NOT work under Snow Leopard.
This is a HUGE disappointment for me as I use MultiClutch ALL the time.
Unfortunately it appears that a whole rewrite of the app is needed in order for it to work again.
Does anyone have the ability to rewrite this app? The source code is available here: [URL]
Chris
Multiclutch on Snow Leopard?
Possible?
Any links?
I'm referring to the app by William Henderson MultiClutch [URL]. It doesn't work for Carbon apps. It wont work for Finder and iTunes.
HOWEVER, I found a way for both, partially.
Finder: When you turn on your computer just do Command-I on any finder window and then close it and multiclutch will start working
iTunes: just go to help, open help, close it and it starts working. BUTTT if you close iTunes and open it again, it does again, and I have to repeat the open help and close. This is annoying.
Any fixes for this? Also will this problem be solved in 10.6 since the Finder is written in Cocoa?
How Do I Get Multiclutch To Refresh My Browser Page?
just installed SL on my rev B MBAir SSD...everything seems to be running smoothly (after re-activating coolbook) except for multiclutch...Multiclutch works in several applications (ie VLC), but doesn't work in several others (ie Safari)....is anyone else having this issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter my macbook hard drive kindly failed on me, I ordered a new Seagate Momentus 5400.5, 320gb hard drive. I popped that sucker in this afternoon and began to start up my macbook with the OS X disc 1. Everything was going smoothly, except that it can't find the hard drive. It is recognized under my disk utility, but when I click to partition it, select options, select GUID, click 'OK', I can neither Name it 'Macintosh HD' or do anything else.
I can't proceed with anything because when it asks me to select a HD, the HD does not show up. Again, everything works except that the hard drive is not found. I pulled the hard drive out. Made sure the screws were alright. Made sure everything was all snuggly, and yet it still won't work.
I have a brand new MBP. I have a 1tb external drive with 250gb's of music. I have it attached to my mac via USB. I CANNOT GET ITUNES TO CREATE A NEW LIBRARY ON THE EXTERNAL DRIVE. I CANNOT DRAG AND DROP OR ADD FILE/FOLDER.
But get this, I hook it up to my old Dell and I can do whatever I want. I am friggin pissed that I spent all this money on Mac equip and can't get it going. You may have seen my other post where I posed my issue of: 1tb ethernet drive hooked to airport extreme. Above mentioned 1tb hooked up to back of it via usb. I am completely unable to copy, move, or add files using my mac. But guess what. my pc handles it easily and quickly.
Restored my HD this AM from a TM backup and am experiencing a lot of problems which include (1) Safari and iPhoto crash upon launch, (2) Mail launches but crashes when I attempt to access an email, (3) I have several "offline images" in my Aperture Library and any attempt to access metadata results in a crash.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner
not able to download apps on my iphone 4. error message says "unable to down load application" at this time

I am having an issue with an iMac G4 12 laptop. Mac operating system will not load properly, and a whirring and clicking noise occurs internally. Upon turning the computer on, after a pause, the screen indicating the Mac logo appears along with the pinwheel icon- this is then interrupted and the screen turns blue-grey and remains blank, with the pinwheel icon occasionally becoming visible before disappearing again. Internal clicking and whirring occurs throughout this sequence. Operating system never loads and the desktop never appears. This is not due to any handling mishap, i.e. dropping, slamming shut or any other contact damage. Any info or advice would be really helpful.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to access the "802.1X" tab in "Network Preferences". When I click on it, the tab turns grey, but no menu pops up. I tried doing a Safe Boot and changing settings there, but when I tried to save settings, the "Network Preferences" shuts down abruptly.
I did not have this problem until I tried to connect to a University Network, which has WPA2 Enterprise security and the need to create a new user profile in this "802.1X" tab to access the internet (ridiculous, isn't it?).
There appears to be a problem with my NAT? I am not sure of the problem exactly, as I never had it with the less complicated modem/router. Essentially it slows down the network considerably meaning that I can not use airtunes as the music keeps stopping and starting and nor can I connect to the internet with the xbox.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post with my new Macbook PRO I just recently received, the reason I am posting this is because the new Macbook PROs are pretty tough I believe.
Every since I got my Macbook I tried my hardest to keep it nice but last night about made me cry when I sat my Macbook PRO on the edge of my bed then my girlfriend 'who is isn't light' came down and sat right on it...
After I saw it under her I went and grabbed it, turn it on, and surprisingly everything still works and operates properly.
I have a MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.5, and I have a problem with the slot sd card.
It always worked properly, but now it doesn't work anymore.
The card doesn't mount on desktop! I don't know why! I also tried another sd card but it doesn't work as well.
I got a powerbook .
1 I was told that it worked but had pixel damage and that when it ran on the battery the screen flickered a bit
2 When I went to pick it up today the guy said that he tried to turn it on to reformatt the HD before I took it but it wouldn't turn on at all.
So what I got is
Powerbook G4 512mb + ?? mb I know there is 2 in there just specs on a sticker on one that I can see
60gb HD
15'' screen
What could the prob be?
What can I do? I tried the reset and PRAM thing ... nothing not sure I did it right though
Logic board
CMOS battery
Ive heard conflicing statments that the raid is software/hardware. anyone know for sure what it is (Im not talking about that card you can buy).
If it is software raid does this take a toll on the processors? is it serious or does it not matter at all.
IF it does matter. should I buy a exteran raid card? is there a mac compatible one. I just need basic raid0.
I just bought 2 samsung spinpoint F1 750s in anticipation of my new mac. But just want to make sure that raid is a wise decision.
for those who are thinking about replying about the dangers of raid. I know. I have time machine. if the raid goes down then so be it. such is life. I will have backups.
My DSL speed hasn't changed in the 1 min it took to download, install, and restart. Safari 3 seems twice as fast as the older version on my MP.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I have these two machines hooked up through my network.
The PC has no trouble ever seeing the Mac.
but the Mac is only able to see the PC when the workgroup name(network name) in windows xp is at it's default, mshome
The problem is the same even when i change the workgroup name in osx under the wins tab in the network settings.
So on my boot drive, there is no option to uncheck the Ignore ownership on this volume because, well, it's not there. I'm running the latest version of OS X. How do I fix this? I've searched around and found similar threads dating back to the Tiger days but nothing that fixed anything for me.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am going to college in the fall and they have a strict no P2P policy. I was thinking I could get around this by installing LogMeIn on my Mac at school and download torrents from there. Then I would log into my computer at home, which is on Verizon FiOS and has no limitations/bans. Would this work and if not are there any other ideas? I have an iPhone 3G so I could tether if worst comes to worst.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI just bought two 2GB Kingston 667MHz DDR2 PC2-5300 SDRAM sticks (KVR667D2S5/2G)
If I try both together they don't work, the computer just don't boot. The screen remains black and the power led on, but nothing else happens (no sound at all).
If I try one of the new sticks with one of the old (original) 512MB sticks, then they work and the OS recognizes 2.5GB.
I am 100% sure the sticks are well installed as I tried both with the old memory and I switched them once at a time to make sure they were installed properly.
According to the Mac's documentation and as far as I've been reading in the forums, it should work fine with 4GB.
I've couldn't find anything in the forums that could help me to solve this problem.
