Jul 1, 2010When i download a file, the finder suddenly corrupt and got no responding, i need force to shutdown the mac.
I tried to repair disk utility already.

Why Does Mac OX 10.6.8 Keep Making Copies Of File Anytime Download / Copy / Move File
Feb 25, 2012Why does Mac OX 10.6.8 keep making copies of a file anytime I download, copy, or move a file? It will copy, dowload or move the file, then begin making copies until I reboot. This makes it impossible to deal wit hfiles unless I want to spend a lot of time rebooting after every time, then deleting all the redundant copies.

Aug 21, 2014 I want a game to play my favorite song when the game is supposed to be playing its own theme song. The theme song is in a sound file that is located on my computer's hard drive. The theme song sound file is in the same format as the sound file that contains my favorite song, so I don't need to convert any files. What is the easiest way to make the game think that the sound file I want the game to use is the sound file of the theme song?

Oct 24, 2010I'm in the midst of backing up an external drive (to another external drive) via Firewire 800, which works fine, but for some strange reason one specific file won't be copied. It's an iDVD file with a filesize of 12.98 GB. All other files have been copied without any problems.
When copying over to the backup drive all seems fine for a while, then (after having copied 4.01 GB) I hear some "clunking" sounds from the source drive followed by the error message shown below. I've tried copying the said file several times and to different backup drives, and in all instances the file copying stops at 4.01 GB.
I've checked both drives with Disk utility and they check out fine. And the iDVD file opens fine in iDVD.
Could it be that MacOSX needs some free "work space" on one or several of the drives in question, which isn't available?
Cureently, the source drive has only 10.63 GB free space, the destination drive has 582 GB available and the computer's (1.67GHz Powerbook G4) internal 80 GB drive has 23 GB free space.

OS X :: File Path In Finder?
Jun 16, 2008Is there any quick way to get a file or folder's path in a copy/pastable form from the Finder (you know, like the location bar in most other file browsers)?
I know you can right-click on the little icon at the top of the window and it'll display the parent directories in a clickable form, but that's not very useful when I need to have the actual path (when coding, for example). Dragging the little icon won't work, either, as TextMate does weird things with that.
Basically, is there some Cmd+??? combination that'll copy the path to the clipboard?

Can you create a file from within finder?
For example, on Windows machines, you can right click in explorer and it goes something like create new > [folder, text file, word doc, etc]. I know that you can add folders, but I'd love to be able to quickly add a new .txt file without having to open TextEdit first (not that it's any faster, just my workflow).

After searching a lot i found i could do it if i held cmd + backspace, but that requires two hands and means i have to take my right hand of the mouse, instead can't i just use the delete key instead of cmd+backspace?

Sep 11, 2009I downloaded this application for my iPhone which installed itself into my applications folder. Soon after I downloaded it I decided I didn't really want it and tried to delete it, but it kept on saying "Unable to delete" cause it was in use or something. I did look at some threads giving advice on this subject and tried some other ways of deleting it but nothing happened and the file name is now "deleteme.rtf.app". Whenever I try Terminal it says there isn't a file on the desktop and I've made 100% sure all the letters are the right spaces apart etc, so now I'm stuck.

Applications :: File Size Not Working In Finder?
Apr 9, 2009I have tried all of the combinations of settings I can think of. Currently I have the size column allows show up as well as having "calculate all sizes" enabled. I can always find the value I want with get info, but some of my directories and files display the size while others don't. I can't figure out any real pattern, aside from the following:
1. my non-bootable secondary hard drive doesn't display any sizes in Finder
2. sometimes sizes will be displayed for a particular set of directories and files and sometimes they won't (this is not a case of not being patient enough for the values to be calculated). The only pattern here seems to be that all files in particular directory will show file size or none.
3. sizes can not work in finder, but will show up in path finder or vice-versa.
OS X :: How To Sort Folders At Top Of File View In Finder
Jul 30, 2009I'm a recent switcher, and of course would never voluntarily go back to a PC. Love everything about the Mac for the most part.
One thing that has bugged me: In Windows File Explorer, when browsing files, all the folders are at the top (in alpha order), then the files are sorted below that in alpha order.
In Finder, the folders are mixed in so everything is alpha all together.
I would prefer seeing all my folders at the top.
Is there a setting that controls this?

Artist > Album > Song
The problem is that I'd like to keep the folder structure in finder to:
Album > Artist > Song
In other words I'd like to keep all the tracks for the compilation in the same folder in Finder.

Nov 30, 2009This one part has never seemed quite right moving from PC to Mac for me. I'm most used to Windows Explorer - the old XP style, working in a single window. I find that with Finder, to copy/paste or move files, I can't always just select files and paste/copy them to the new location. and some things seem to require having multiple Finder windows open and a drag/drop.
Maybe I'm missing something in the process/workflow and its possible to solely work easily in a single Finder window? It doesn't seem to always allow you to do a copy or cut when you right click on a selection of files in Finder.

Sorry, but Bluetooth File Exchange is good but is lacking in functionality (i.e. the ability to transfer folders or multiple folders) and has quite a cumbersome user interface.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Change File Preview In Finder?
Apr 6, 2012So I just finished my latest short film, and I exported it to Finder. However I don't like the preview Finder chose for my video, it simply chose a random frame from my video and made that the preview of the file. I have a custom poster I made for the video I would like to make the preview of the file. I've look at other websites and they all mistook "preview" for icons. I am not talking about the icon of the file, I am talking about the actual preview of the file. If you open the Info pane of an image or a video file, there will be a tab under "Open With" named "Preview" and shows the preview thumbnail for the file. Can anyone tell me how I can manually change the preview of a file? I thought about importing the video into iTunes, change the cover art and take it out again, however because the file is encoded with Apple ProRes 4444 iTunes won't accept it and even if it did it would have been converted to other format, which is something I am trying to avoid and I would like to keep it ProRes 4444.
