OS X :: Setup D-Link WBR-1310 In Bridge Mode?
Jan 20, 2009
So I have a D-Link WBR-1310 wireless router that isnt being used right now. I want to set it up in bridge mode so that my old PowerMac G3 can connect to my wireless network and get on the internet since it doesnt have a airport card. I've tried Google-ing it but had no luck finding out how to do it or if there is even an option for it. Does anyone know how to set it up in bridge mode?

I currently have a D-Link WBR-1310 802.11g wireless router, which is the only router I have on the network. It is housed in the basement, and I use my computer on the top (third) floor. If I were to buy an Airport Express, would I be able to add it to my existing network while keeping the D-Link? If so, how would I?

I currently have a Netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL Router. I would like to purchase a Time Capsule and set it up as a wireless bridge. The Netgear is downstairs in the living room and has my Xbox, Xbox 360 and HD DVD player plugged into the Ethernet ports. My iMac and girlfriends MacBook connect wirelessly. My question is can I use the Time Capsule in Bridge mode and utilize the Ethernet connections for my iMac? This way backups will be much quicker to the Time Capsule. If anyone sees any areas in my setup that could be improved please let me know.

My setup:
I have a router from my ISP with one cable out which goes into a hub. From there, I have connected my ipPhone, my media center, and my Airport express.
Now the media center's IP number is aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd.
The IpPhone is aaa.bbb.ccc.eee.
So the airport express should be aaa.bbb.... at least.... right (My airport is set up to be in bridge mode)?
but in fact, the Airport has the IP number fff.ggg.hhh.iii.
How can this be? I am using DHCP, so should'nt my ISP just give me one IP number, and my hub distributes the last one or two sets of digits?
I want my Airport to be a sort of an extension of my hub, only for wireless devices.
As you can see I am pretty new to networking, and must admit that I dont fully understand all this, but I thought I had it all under control.

So I want to setup a Time Capsule to work with a Linksys WRT54g. From what I understand, I can plug the Time Capsule into one of the wired ports of the Linksys and set it up in bridge mode for 5Ghz n speeds only. That way the Linksys still does the NAT, DHCP, and wireless b/g, while the Time Capsule does wireless n only.
Couple of questions:
1) I plug the Time Capsule into one of the 4 ports on the Linksys. Where does the other end go into the Time Capsule? The WAN port? Or one of the 3 LAN ports?
2) If I add both the Linksys wireless network and the Time Capsule n network in on my MacBook running Leopard (making the n network higher in the list), if for any reason the Time Capsule wireless connection gets lost.....will the MacBook automatically fail over to the Linksys b/g network? Assuming that both WPA passwords are stored in the keychain.
3) If I plug in a Printer or external HDD into the Time Capsule, can users connecting through the b/g connection, or connected directly to the Linksys see it?

I currently have an O2 wireless ADSL2 Modem connected to my AEBS. I've disabled the Wi-Fi signal of the wireless box since its a G router and i'd rather be using the AEBS for its N signals. I'm wondering if i should connect the O2 box to the ethernet port of the AEBS or WAN port whilst in bridge mode? or it doesn't matter?

I'm currently a Verizon FiOS customer so I'm stuck with their router connected to a Time Capsule in Bridge Mode. My iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV's stay connected to the network just fine but my MacBook Pro randomly gets disconnected. Under Wifi settings it says it's still connected to my Network but nothing will process over the internet and I can't access any websites.

Does anyone know anywhere online that has step by step instructions (or could provide some) on how to set up my ABS to go into bridge mode. The wireless modem/router I use is in the other room, and I would like to connect my Xbox 360 online, and figured I would just bridge the ABS and connect it to that.
I am having lots of problems doing this, and it's hard to find online how to exactly do it.

I'm trying to design a home network for a friend and I want to be sure I'm understanding "Bridge Mode" correctly...
There is an existing router that provides a wired Ethernet network to 2 computers (one of the a MacMini, shown in the pic). If an Airport Express is connected to one of the router's ports and set up in "Bridge Mode" then the wireless network will simply be an extension of the same network to wireless clients. Is that right?
In this setup, the original router provides the internet connection and doles out IP addresses (DHCP server). The Airport just passes IP addresses and internet to clients connected wirelessly. In addition, any computer connected to the network (via Ethernet/router or wirelessly) will be able to access AirTunes and Print server connected to the Airport.
Is this right?

I have been trying to set up an AirPort Express in client mode so I can have some remote speakers to listen too but I have been having problems. I have everything set up and I go into AirPort Utility and choose the Express (at this time I have selected the Express as my network). I am able to choose the option to join an existing network (my AirPort Extreme) and AirPort Utility then shows me my settings and everything looks okay, but when APU restarts the Express I get an error message that says that APU can not find the Express's network. I go to the Express and it is blinking amber (not a good sign). I have the Express' MAC added to the Access Control Pane in the AirPort Extreme's preferences. I have read Apple's support article and followed it to a T and yet I still get the error message.

I need alittle help and hope that someone maybe able to answer. I have a pc ( HP pavillion ) hooked up to a D-link Wireless G Router WBR-1310 and it works fine. I bought my wife a Macbook pro and it hooks up to my secure wireless router, but at times it will become very slow, and even stop for her when shes on the net. I can be sitting next to her with my HP and no problem with the signal at all. Can anyone suggest any ideas? I'm hoping to get a Macbook for myself soon and would love to be able to get this problem corrected before I do.

My brother is going to start school in June for Film. He is all set to buy a Mac and knows the software side of things but not so much the Hardware side.
I have a few questions:
1. Should extra hard drives be bought third party?
2. Should he do a raid setup for backups?
3. How much memory should he buy for Final Cut operations? (third party)
4. Should he look into getting a Dell monitor instead of Apple? What is a comparable Dell monitor?
5. 4-Core or 8-Core?
6. Any other knowledgeable Mac Pro buying advice

I am trying to setup a firefighter's apple laptop into our linksys net at firestation. She got access fine when we did not have it secured but now we setup a wep key. All other members can get in by entering wep key when they choose the wireless router but when we input the wep key to apple laptop airport I think we get connection error. Key is definitely right. What changed in the apple setup other than the wep key, again when signal was unsecure laptop safari worked fine. The linksys is a B about 3 years old.

Here's my goal: simply to share my MBPs wireless connection to my Xbox over ethernet. Sounds simple enough and I know it should be possible but it isn't working. I have internet sharing on to go from the airport to ethernet but when I try to connect the xbox it can't even find a network or get an IP address. I would assume I just need to get my computer to act as a host of some kind and assign it an IP address, but I can't figure out how to get it to do that.

Not sure if this is the right place but I have my Humax HDR T2(a pvr) connected to my macbook via ethernet as my laptop is next to my tv and thats not on the same floor as the router. Before I got the wireless adapter for my xbox I was doing the same setup and using my macbook as a bridge which worked well but the T2 is saying network disconnected. It is showing up all the settings from the network apart from gateway address. On my mac its saying the "ethernet has a self assigned IP so an internet connection will not be possible".

Fudzilla reports that Intel has confirmed that Intel 6 chipset will natively support USB 3.0. Yes, both, mobile and desktop chipsets. Still unsure whether all chipsets or just some of them will support USB 3.0.
I would like to add that it's not 100% sure since Fudzilla didn't show any concrete evidence but they usually know their stuff. At least we have hope now

Does anyone know the status on "Sandy Bridge" with regards to it being utilized in future Mac Pro's? I ask as I just sold my 2008 2.8 8 Core and am considering a 2010 8 Core Westmere. However I can live without a system, so if in 5-6 months Sandy Bridge appears in the Mac Pro, and it's worth the wait, I'm for it.

So I've seen way to many "should I upgrade now or wait" threads, but I've been out of the tech "loop" for a while, and I would just like to ask weather its worth it to wait for the new mbp if it has sandybridge with it.
So I will be going to college soon, and I'm going to be taking some film courses, and I do photoshop work and premier work with a bit of after effects. Would anyone be able to tell me weather the sandy bridge will be able to handle this better than the current cpu's or are the current cpu's going to preform better? I can wait if I have to for the new ones, but I'm currently on a $300 netbook right now, I just sold my i7 gaming/media windows computer for money to buy my macbook. I'm switching to mac for good, I'm getting sick with windows.
I'm going to wait for the 2011 mbp announcement before I make any final decisions though. I don't want to buy a current mbp if the 2011's have some crazy good upgrade and I miss out.
