View 16 RepliesBit of a strange one to describe this, but I tried to send a message to a lot of recipients and it wouldn't send (I used the wrong server). Now I have an error message that falls off the bottom of the screen and I can't clear it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
About a week ago I noticed that my emails were not being received by Mail. I have my mail set up on my iPhone as well and I was receiving emails on the iPhone, however they were not showing up on my macbook pro. The account is sbcglobal.net. How can I fix this?

I tried to reorganize my mail by using the advice on a previous post. In effect, all of my mail disappeared. Any ideas on how to retrieve my mail? Here is the previous post:Okay, here's what I'd do. Close Mail. Go to a folder named Mail in your Home's Library, open it, and drag everything inside it to a new Folder on your Desktop. This means everything (on your computer at least) is backed up.
Now, find a file named com.apple.mail.plist and drag it to the Desktop too.Okay, now when you open Mail, it should be like-new. Put in your .Mac account details again and re-download all your emails. If your problems are Mail-based and not .Mac-based, this should have solved them. Good luck and tell me if there are bits you don't like in what I've said and I'll try to make it clearer.
I thought you could still get mail in the mail program after July 1st if you were running OS 10.5. I woke up this morning and no new mail on my old iMac running OS 10.5.8. All my other devices are fine. I have a laptop running 10.6 and the mail program will get my .mac acco

I have 2 hard drives - internal 250gb ( running SnowLeopard ) and external 160gb ( running Leopard ).
Recently, my logic board failed - and I took out my internal drive, so I could boot off GF's Macbook and carry on working while the MBP was getting fixed.
For some reason when using the Macbook - all my settings went from Mail - and I had to re-enter all my accounts. When I did this, I couldn't get all my accounts up, and the ones that did had some files and folders missing.
I get a never ending request for my password; from a rejection of the server "url...". My iPhone retrieves mail fine; and I can log into iCloud ok.

Suddenly my 'Mail' program does not 'Get Mail' when I clik the button or choose the command in the menu. Nothing happens, no sign of downloading anything.Â
But the red dot on the Dock icon shows I have 8000+ unread messages.Â
I haven't added any new software or upgraded the OS for a number of days. Worked OK this morning. I've tried restarting both the program and the computer.Â

Is there a way I can retrieve my mac mail password? I keep getting asked for it but I've forgotten what it is as I haven't had to use it for years. I've tried keychain but I have no mail password in it. I tried using the same password as my isp's webmail, which I never use, but it didn't work.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife typed a very long email message, but did not have the recipient's address correct. Immediately upon sending it, she got the form Unable to Send information. She looked in her Sent folder, but I guess since the message was not technically sent, it does not appear. Is there any way to retrieve the very long email she typed rather than starting over?

Occasionally when I am composing a message in Mail (Version 4.3), I accidentally hit a key that deletes a whole sentence. Is there a way I can retrieve this sentence or do I have to start over? In my old Outlook Express on my Dell pc, I could arrow back to find anything that accidentally deleted while composing.

Mail has worked flawlessly for me for several years. But this week, it stopped loading (retrieving) my messages from my .mac/me/iCloud service. For some reason, my .mac account in Mail is offline. When I try to take it back online, mail tells me that my password isn't being accepted. (But it works just fine if I go to my iCloud account and use it to log on and check my mail there. And it's no prob retrieving my mail on my iPhone, either.)
(I have several other e-mail accounts set up in Mail, and they work just fine. Only my .mac/me/iCloud account stopped working.) I've tried to change various settings in the preferences for the account, but it's been to no avail. Some of the various error messages I've received after trying to fix the prob: And here are info panels I see when I check the account in Mail's preferences: Note how port 993 is greyed out here; it's not greyed out for my other email accounts (and it's the same port w/ those, too).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just set up my new iMac, migrated everything from my MacBook Pro, and everything works EXCEPT Mail. I have configured my MobileMe settings to synch everything, and online, everything is there: contacts, all old email, etc... but Mail doesn't show any of this stuff, nor will it retrieve or synch any of my email accounts. Also, I have to Force Quit it everytime to exit the program.
Could this be something with the Preferences file, or .plist file?
I use Mail to access 4 different email accounts, two of which are Gmail accounts. About a week ago Mail stopped retrieving the messages of one of the accounts. It looks like it is trying to download them in that the little status wheel spins, but nothing happens on that account. I can send mail from it, however it is extremely slow to send. I installed Snow Leopard about two months ago and have had no other problems. Now all of a sudden Mail won't download any of my messages from this Gmail account. I haven't changed any settings, and I can access my mail at [URL] using the net interface and also on my iPhone and there are plenty of new messages there. I don't know what to do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter numerous posts on the Apple Discussions site and spending 4 hours one afternoon with the "geniuses" I still can't send email from the SMTP setting for my Exchange account. I've literally tried everything, IMAP is turned on on the office server, we use MXLogic for upstream/downstream filtering but the IP address is the same as it is for our network. I'm beyond frustrated. Is anyone else having issues with SENDING mail via their Exchange server settings? Hotmail and my .mac account send and receive just fine. I've had to "send on behalf of" with every email that I respond to viw the work Exchange server and it's pretty ridiculous.
At the apple store, I used the same exact settings in their Entourage account that I use in Mail and it IMMEDIATELY connected and allowed me to send. I'm just not real fired up over spending $150 for bloated MS software when I've been operating just fine without it.
my ip is [URL], port 110, outgoing port 587
all settings are correct (checked with provider). I can recieve on iphone, ipad etc, just not on my mac mail (although i can send email).
reset all email passwords and rebooted. Outgoing mail server is POP.
Mail worked fine until last Friday; then, suddenly,I can't send email. I can download email, surf the net, and write this, but no email out. After 4 days of apparent attempts to fix the problem, Comcast says it's an Apple problem. Apple has sent several fixes to me. Still I can't send email.
I get an error message: "sender address ..........@comcast.net was rejected by the server." If I use a browser and go to Comcast, my address and password gets me in immediately.
Making several attempts at changing Ports, at times, the error message is, "Port 25 has timed out."
I have gone through Mail Preference settings several times with Comcast and and also with settings that Apple sent.
My wife's computer (G4 iBook, 10.3, AT&T email provider) recently refuses to get or send email (spontaneously it would appear - no installs or updates made). The error that keeps coming up is that it is "Unable to verify SSL server xxx".
I have checked and rechecked the settings at least 10 times.
I tried deleting then reloading the server certificate (in just about every keychain possible user, anchors, cert) and then copied it from my computer that works (same server) and then reloaded the one AT&T provides all with no success.
I tried deleting and rebuilding com.apple.mail.plist
I have searched virtually every site and while there are some with similar problems, their fixes don't work for me.
Finally I downloaded Thunderbird and used the same settings and it works flawlessly the first time.
My computer (MacBook, 10.4) and an iPod touch can both download email without issue and have seen no difference during this same timeframe.
Can't send mail from either gmail or yahoo. can receive mail on both, however
