OS X :: Mouse Worked For Little While But Then Just Stopped Working?
Sep 8, 2009
I have a Bamboo tablet and a wireless mighty mouse. The mouse worked for little while but then just stopped working. It still moves but I cant click on some things and it doesnt change the pointer when i go over text for example. Any one know why?
Every once in a while the mouse pad will stop working. A wireless mouse will work in its place. The keyboard will also act extremely slow during this time. It seems like the buffer is full and it moves on to the next letter i type without using the previously typed letter.
I just bought a MacBook Pro about a week ago, and installed WinXP SP2 through Boot Camp. Everything has worked fine up until this morning when my BT mouse suddenly stopped working on both Mac OS X and Windows.
I fixed the problem on the Mac OS X by trashing a preference file, and the mouse now works perfectly.
It still does not work on Windows, though. When I try to install it, it locates the mouse, connects, but the system tray displays the following message: "A problem occured during hardware installation. Your hardware might not work properly".
I have a feeling it is a software problem. I tried reinstalling the Boot Camp software, but it didn't work.
Last night I had to do a forced shutdown of my PowerMac, and when I booted it this morning, myLogitech wireless set was no longer recognizedby the system. So far I've rebooted (a fwe times) with the receiver plugged directly into the tower, and uninstalled / reinstalled the Logitech "control center" software.
When I scroll down, I get no response. Everything else is fine. The clicking sound has also stopped when scrolling down, and I guess this is the reason why it's not working.

I've got an iMac with a Magic Mouse which was working perfectly, but which now refuses to recognise the two-fingered swipe to navigate in any program. I've tried disabling and re-enabling the gesture, rebooted etc.
I have a problem with my magic mouse (imac 27'' C2D) because the 2-fingers swipe feature has stopped working. What can I do now ? Can I reinstall the mouse software ?
I installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...
I know that the general consensus here is that the Mighty Mouse is a piece of shit. That notwithstanding, I'd appreciate posters refraining from engaging in further elaborations on that concept when replying to this topic (i.e., no comments like "Buy a new mouse," please).
At any rate, I purchased a wireless Mighty Mouse about a month ago and was very happy with it until the batteries apparently died. One day the pointer simply stopped responding and the green light on the bottom of the mouse was flashing. I replaced the batteries and the mouse resumed normal operation. Then, a few days later it happened again. I have yet to re-replace the batteries and have reverted to using my now eight-year-old Logitech dual-optical mouse (possibly the finest peripheral I have ever owned). Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Is this mouse having internal hardware or software issues or is it normal for it to devour batteries at this rate? System Preferences says that Bluetooth is maintaining the connection properly, so I am ruling that out as an issue. I would just say to hell with it, and use my Logitech mouse full-time, but my wife hates it and I payed seventy goddamn dollars for the Apple product.
Quicklook has stopped workingon my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8. Pressing the space bar on a file yields nothing. Is there a way to update or reset it so it starts working again?

during SW to my mini-mac wireless key board the keyboard stop responding. now i have left without an ability to work with my wireless keyboard. is there any why to reset the keyboard to default setting so it will come to live again..
When I wake from sleep, my mouse cursor is a beachball that is NOT spinning. I can use my mouse like normal, move it, and click on things, but its still a beachball. I beleive it stays like this until the mouse is actually supposed to be a beachball (when I open a few programs at the same time and the computer starts "thinking"), then it starts spinning and after that it goes back to the normal black arror cursor.
Might be a problem from the 10.5.3 update? anyone else experience this?
I have been connecting wirelessly to the same router for about 4 months now, using DHCP, and having the settings on the automatic connection. I left the computer on, but closed, so sleeping, for about two days. When i opened it, the battery did not yet run out but the internet has not connected since.
I have full connection in internet connect to my network. Status says connected. If I have the IPv4 using DHCP, the status says that i am connected but my computer have a self-assigned IP adress. When I put in the IP manually, the Network setting give me a green light on airport and says that I am connected to the network thru airport. Needless to say, no browsers (Firefox, Safari, Netscape, or Internet Explorer) have been able to connect to the internet.
I have tried running Disk Utility for any errors, but there have been no changes.

all of a sudden the middle mouse button stopped opening dashboard and now works as autoscroll. I have checked in expose and DB is still set to middle mouse button.
Ok, so I went to the apple support webpage and did all the junk they told me to do, but my might mouse still won't scroll down. It scrolls left, right, and up just fine, but for some reason it won't scroll down. The ball moves fine when i'm trying to scroll down, but, again, nothing happens...anyone have any suggests??? and Yes, i've cleaned it and haven't done anything to it and I can't think of anything I could have done to cause this...
I have been having some problems with my wireless mighty mouse. For some reason it has stopped scrolling up; it will scroll down but not up. Unfortunately, I have lost the disk that comes with it so I can't reinstall the software. Does any have any suggestions as USBoverdrive does not as yet support the mouse.
I was installing X-Plane 9 on my fairly new Mac Pro when it stopped working. I switched disks and nothing happened, the drive just won't spin up. I have tried a number of different CDs and DVDs and none will spin up. I can verify that by looking at the position of the disk when I put it in and take it out, it never moves.I have tried the usual reboot and resetting the PRAM. (I did the command option o r and un-plugged with power button for 5 seconds)I tried calling Apple care 2 times and the message I get is, the call center is closed. That's it, they don't even tell what hours they *ARE* open.
Recently my 2 month old (+/-) rev B MBA USB stopped working. When I plug in a thumb drive, DVD drive or anything, the power light on the usb peripheral comes on, but the drive does not mount. I am running SL, and until last week I had no issue.
a few days ago, (after reseting my computer with time machine) my Quick Look stoped working. all that hapens when i hit the space bar (or any other way of opinging quicklook) is the big grey box with nothing in it. I can still see the prevews of the items with coverflow.
When i checked console i got this message every time i trie to open a file " Finder[103]: [QL] Display bundle <QLGenericDisplayBundle: 0x11638e120> did not return a layer although it was required to because it did not return a view either."
My MBP's (October 2007) screen just stopped working. I don't know what's up. It's not the backlight, because I've turned my backlight off before and you can still see the screen faintly, but I can't see anything. I ran to Target to buy an external monitor - but they were out, so I bought a TV (Sylvania lc195slx) in hopes of that working. Well, it didn't work. I am currently using a newer MBP (September 2009) borrowed for a few minutes from a friend to write this and test the TV.
Her MBP was able to hook up to the TV just fine. So now I'm wondering if there is a video driver error or something. This is really bad timing, as I have to do a presentation on Tuesday for a final and I'm still working on finding the information. Anyway, if you can offer any advice to get the screen and/or tv working, that would be great! And I'm using my DVI to VGA adapter to plug my computer into the tv.
Safari on my iMac (10.7.4) has been acting up recently. Very slow to begin loading my opening Tabs and CPU intensive. Today it has just stopped working at all. It just sits there with high CPU use and nothing loads into my opening tabs. I've tried Google Chrome and it works fine with the same tabs. Tried downloading the latest Safari and installed it, but it didn't help. Don't know what to do next. I've seen all the warnings about not deleting Safari. Is there any alternative to reloading Lion? Can't I just delete Safari from Terminal and then reinstall from my Safari download and import my exported Bookmarks?

The i key has stopped working on my 2011 Macbook Pro. i've tried taking the key off and cleaning underneath, pressing it hard, pressing on the side, tried turning off text to speech...
All the other keys are working fine. Tried to book a genius bar appt but there are none available and i can't afford to pay for tech support!
Suddenly command-W has stopped working on my system (OS X 10.6.4, iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). Instead of closing the current window or browser tab, it takes me to the Finder. I have tried rebooting, but it did not fix it.
