Software :: Messenger Id For Adium Not Signing In?
Mar 29, 2008i've got adium because apparently it's much better and can combine my talk and msn messenger which would be great, but it doesn't sign in my msn id.
Currently, the options settings are as follows:
login server: [URL]
port: 1863
connect via http (checked)
check for new mail (checked)
I just don't get what the problem is. I connect by airport to my house internet.
And is there any way to convert wma files to itunes? It used to work on my PC

Sep 7, 2009I installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2008, but I really do not want or need Microsoft Entourage or Messenger. I have read that if you only uninstall part of Microsoft Office, it'll create problems with the other programs in the suite. How can I go about safely uninstalling these programs? Do I need to fully uninstall and then re-install? I made sure while installing Office to opt for a custom installation so I could un-check Entourage and Messenger. However, I didn't see those specific programs on the custom installation list. Are they maybe under a different name (like, for example, "Microsoft Essentials")? I don't know what to do. Help is much appreciated!

Nov 2, 2010I'm more than a little annoyed at this point with Microsoft Messenger 8. I absolutely cannot run a video call. When sent the invitation from a contact, I can answer, but there is no sound nor video. And when I send the invitation, it never arrives or loads. This has been going on for ages, and I am absolutely boggled as to what it is.

May 2, 2009For several days I have been unable to sign in to Microsoft Messenger. I have the leaked 8.0 version. I thought maybe it was a problem with the leaked beta but I can't sign in using aMSN either. I can sign in to web based substitutes like eBuddy, but it's still very annoying. Whenever I try to sign in on the actual application it just tries for awhile and then says the service is not available or you may not be connected to the Internet.

Apr 8, 2009the other day i downloaded the new msn (7.02) along with the new safary (4 beta), installed them and opened them.
msn didn't seem to be working (i couldnt open a chat window) so i quit. i then got one of those 'an error has occurred - report.. etc' messages. i clicked don't report and gave it another try. this time it opened properly and seemed to be working fine, except that every time i write to someone and clicked enter i have to re-click on the window to be able to continue writing, otherwise it just gives me error sounds. this is extremely annoying, especially since i'm practically anal retentive about my computer.

Oct 16, 2010As of Monday 11th October 2010 Mac Messenger just stopped working on my iMac. I haven't added any new programs, messed with any setting or anything. My password is 100% correct and I am most definitely connected to the internet. All I get it the below pop up that states

Sep 3, 2010Now I know that a lot of people have had this problem in the past but I'm hoping that maybe someone will have a solution now that actually fixes this problem.When I attempt to sign in I get the error message "Sign in to Microsoft Messenger failed because the service is not responding. The service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet."
I've tried deleting every trace of msn and reinstalling it, Which did not work. I've also tried upgrading to msn 8 beta (Which incidentally crashes when I try to open it) and downgrading to 6.0.3. Neither of these fixed the problem. I've tried resetting my router, which had no effect. I've tried disabling proxies but it turns out I don't have any so that's not the problem. I've looked at the firewall but msn is not blocked.
Other clients such as amsn and adium are not experiencing the same problem. Msn is working fine on my macbook and other windows machines in my household. It is just my Imac that seems to be having the problem.I have scoured the internet and nothing I have found has been of any use.

Mar 15, 2012Switched over from Mobileme to Icloud. Icloud keeps signing me out. There seems to be no set amount of time. Sometimes it will stay signed in for days, other times it will sign out after just an hour or two.

Dec 3, 2009It's been having trouble shutting down when it's gone unused. Then it won't turn on unless I turn the surge protector off and back on. (I thought it was tied to my backup drive being on, but now I just turn it on when I need it) Even then it doesn't start up automatically, I have to push it a few times. Just now when I held down the start up button it made a loud whooshing sound, started up, maintained the sound for awhile and then normal but I still hear it running louder than usual. I dread it may not start up again one of these times. Side issue, maybe unrelated but firefox is driving me crazy with proxy issues, aol mail issues, and just now I couldn't post in this forum it was "forbidden" when I hit submit. so I used Safari instead and found my post was actually posted.

Jan 1, 2010New owner of iMac 24" 2.8 since last March. Just recently I have noticed that when I take off for a few days, I shutdown the iMac and when I return home a few days later and hit the power button the iMac is already on in sleep mode. The only change I have made recently was to add Time Machine on a Guardian Maximus 1TB raid drive, but I usually power off that drive when I leave. I've checked and searched here and in the Apple discussions with no luck. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

OS X Mavericks :: Can't Log Into IMac G5 After Shutdown
Jun 1, 2014After a full shutting down the computer we needed to get back on, so on restart it came up to the usual 2 user options, mine and guest.
After selecting mine and entering my password the little Ferris wheel spins as usual but then the coloured pin wheel come up and spins for about 2seconds. The screen then flashes white and it goes back to selecting between the 2 users.
I did a Command R restart and went in to Utilities and changed my password (although I was entering it in correctly before) and no change.
I am running the latest updated version of Mavericks and have unplugged all peripheral hardware from the computer, followed by a restart and no change.
I've even left the computer shut down for 2 days and on our return still the same.

Mar 31, 2009I am having some problems with this computer. Suddenly shuts itself off I have had trouble turning it back on. At times I try unplugging the power cord (both ways), and any peripherals (USB, Firewire). Sometimes it works and other times no. I pretty much have to play around with it - but right now I can't turn it back on! In case some are wondering, it is running Tiger, 1 GB of RAM, and I keep it running pretty much around the clock.

Sep 26, 2006It's a G5 20" 2.0ghz machine and is 15 months old approx. He was running something or other, nothing very taxing, when the computer unexpectedly shut down. He restarted it and within a few mins it shutdown again. He restarted it again and used it fine for a couple of hours, shut it down and went to bed. Came to it the next day and nothing. No noise, no lights, nothing. He dropped it off at a local authorised dealer and they thought it was either going to be the power supply (�100 to fix) or the main board (�600 to fix). Sure enough he got the call and it's the logic board thats gone. He doesnt have applecare unfortunately but decided to try his luck and contact apple anyway. Needless to say, they weren't in the least interested and told him he'd either have to foot the bill or toss the machine in the bin. �600 to fix one of these is appauling and more than the machine itself is worth but the options are limited. Has anyone else experienced anything like this and if so are there places to get the machines fixed cheaper? I know this goes to show that it's a good idea to stump up the extra cash initially for applecare but �1200 (the price when new) seems pretty bad for 15 months computing and has really put me off recommending iMacs to anyone else. The days when I can construct my own computer with my own components and run OS X on it, and repair it myself cant come soon enough if this is how it's going.

When I press power it makes the start noise but the screen stays white. The apple doesn't pop up and it won't load. Trying to put in disks that came with my computer don't seem to work either.
