View 1 RepliesMy two year-old was messing on our computer and managed to reverse all the colors. (black is white, red is green, etc.) I can't figure out how he did it and how to change it back. Apparently my back-up hasn't been working, I now find out. Ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not happy with the backdrop that appears on my display when my MBA starts up, before I log in to my user account. So I'm not referring to the wallpaper that you'd see on the desktop if all your applications were minimised or closed, but the background when you first switch the notebook on (visible when the theme tune is played, and the apple symbol shown). The MBA I purchased in September had a lovely background that was a subtle cross hatch of dark and medium grey. The newer model, purchased this June (after I destroyed the first one through water damage) has a boring, solid light grey background instead. I haven't been able to work out how to alter this in system preferences.

The sleeve I keep my laptop in got wet tonight and now the bottom of my macbook is a weird grey/green/yellow colour. The sleeve is by logiix. I can't find the product online but the inside of the sleeve is micro-fibre-ish kind of material... I took some pictures but the quality is really bad, i took it from my cellphone.... I'm wondering if there's anyway to clean it up or do i have to live with it forever... Why does this happen? Might Apple cover it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNew to using Mac's... this is an older desktop but I haven't had any issues with it yet. I went on to use it and the colour was a yellow/orange looking colour and it changes the way pictures and text look on the computer. Is there a way I can troubleshoot this problem or is it something to do with the monitor itself?

change the color of my menu bar to white
Code:
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.WindowServer 'EnvironmentVariables' -dict 'CI_NO_BACKGROUND_IMAGE' 1
it prompts me for a password and then i put it in then i restart my mac and... it doesnt change, its still this like off gray color.
well i guess like most people i like to customize my mac. so i was wondering how i could change the color of my menu bar to black and have the text (the apple and the file, edit ect) to white. i have custom icons and docks but this has eluded me. i have tried to change the bar to transparent and have the wallpaper behind it be the color i want but that doesn't help change the color of the text and i doubt its the best solution.

Hello everyone. No I AM NOT looking to mod the apple logo in my menu bar. My question is this: Why does my apple logo change color from time to time? I have seen it Red/Orange, blue, white/grey, and traditional black. Why is it doing this? I have never seen it before. No I haven't changed backgrounds/themes. It isn't all the time, infact I am not sure if it is related to any specific user intervention. I am just curious as to why it may be doing this. I've googled and only founds ways to hack it. NO I am not on hallucinogens. I thought it was related to the Apple Software update, indicating I had new updates, but this was disproven today when it was Red and I checked for updates.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI started having a weird problem about two weeks ago. I'm working in an application (any application, I think) when suddenly the focus is gone. That is, any keystroke draws a beep. If I single-click in the window, life goes on normally. When this happens, the name in the menu bar does not change.

Without using an external program, that is. I know you can change it with an external program, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to modify it from within OS X's files themselves?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?

I've just bought a 2nd hand Iiyama screen and am finding that 1/4 of the internet has used sRGB attached to its images, which is creating a whole new world of fake tan for me. If I save one of these images and apply the monitors colour profile in Preview the image looks normal, I've also tried to calibrate the display both in Apples Color and via the screens controls - all to no avail. The problem appear to be with the OSX colour profile for the screen? Does anyone know how to override one of these? - and yes I've tried calibrating the current profile and using as many other available in the displays control panel as the OS supplies.
