View 4 Replieshow can you take a snippet of audio from a dvd (eg film) or from say a divx or xvid movie file on your hard drive.... and say save it as mp3 or wav file. As a whole, and as a user definded section of the movie file/dvd. can someone break down the basic options on how to do this? can built in mac apps do this? quicktime? VLC player? pro tools? toast? idvd or ilife etc for either pc or mac. Preferably mac as i use it more.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using iMovie 09 and iDVD to make DVDs but I'm really disappointed with the quality. I use a Samsung HD camera called Samsung H104 (in europe) and it records in full HD 1920 x 1080. What way is best to get good quality on a DVD? I have a fairly new MacBook Air (from sept) but I usually use my iMac (from 2008) to import and burn the DVDs. The quality I get is really poor and everyone end up look quite overweight because of the widescreen.

View 7 Replies View RelatedOkay, so I am here at work, and have spent the last 4-5 hours trying to resolve this issue, and cannot find any working solutions for it on the internet. We have .3gp recordings. All of a sudden, we started getting this error on some of our computers. Example: I want to play test.3gp; I try to open test.3gp in QuickTime, and I get an error that reads...
"Error -2002: A bad public movie atom was found in the movie:test.3gp" But when I go to play test2.3gp, it plays fine. This issue varies from computer to computer. I get this error on all three of my machines. 2 Windows 7 64bit, and 1 Windows 7 32bit. My colleague and boss can play test.3gp fine through QuickTime on their computers. One is Windows 7 64bit the other is 32bit.
Anyone know some causes of this and hopefully a way to solve it? I tried cleaning up registry errors, running as administrator, updating, reinstalling... Nothing is working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get used to Mac because I want to write some novels with Scrivener, but I'm mainly a Linux guy. I made a .7za passworded archive and threw it on Dropbox, but now I can't for the life of me extract it on a MacBook running Leopard. I've tried 7zX and Keka, but both of them are determined to create either a .7z or .zip archive rather than extract the .7za. What am I not getting here?
I tried to get 7zip, but all the links I find to a Mac version are broken.
I have a few .rm files (RealAudio 10 AAC), and have done a "container swap" so that the AAC is now in a QuickTime container, and is therefore readable by iTunes etc. The problem is that my iPod won't read these QuickTime files. How can I extract the AAC data into an .m4a file that an iPod can play? I have QT Pro.

When viewing a movie file in my browser in Leopard, I was able to right click on it and save a copy to my desktop/computer. Now, I can't seem to enable this option...I have no way of saving a movie to my computer. Am I missing something? How does one do this now, do I need to click on a specific spot?

What do you guys think? I made this.
Right click multiple zip files on Windows Explorer and there you have a handy "Extract to" option where you can select to extract all the files to a single folder. How to do the same thing on the mac? Not using terminal, not opening each file and doing the extraction, not opening it with stuffit where it extracts to a folder automatically, i'd like to do the exact same thing that I can do on windows... which is extract X zip / rar files to a specific folder that I can choose, just by right-click.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to extract a DVD to .mov without having to spend money? I use Handbrake, which is great; however, I would prefer to have my files as .mov instead of .mp4. Is there something out there like Handbrake that is free without catches? Are there other alternatives?
I know about software out there that does this, like quicktime pro and dvd ripper. I feel that there shouldn't be a reason to shell out more money for just converting files. We all know being a videographer isn't cheap.
Since I need to bring my mini-tapes to a media transfer store to be made into DVDs, I thought I might be able to bring it to that same place or a rite aid or duane reade to be converted to .mov files instead of a DVD.

However, I can't just extract on my Mac and then upload what it dumps out to the server - the file needs to be unarchived on the server. However, I'm not quite sure how to do this. I currently use Cyberduck as my FTP client, but I'm willing to use anything else that can extract this if Cyberduck cannot.
