View 5 RepliesI have a concert I recorded and I would like to extract the audio from either the MPEG-2 file or the DIVX file. Is there any program that will extract either the AC3 or MP3 audio? If it is the AC3, what else do I need to use to convert it to MP3 or AAC or WAV?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy friend uploaded a recording of a show on megavideo and I downloaded it but when it did, on my desktop there is just a blank page icon and it won't play on iTunes or quicktime. I thought i might have needed to unzip it so i tried using zipeg but zipeg didn't recognise it.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I downloaded two free mixtapes recently and I was unable to open the first. I downloaded it again and tried again, same error. I figured no big deal, but when I got the same 'Error 1 - Operation Not Permitted' for the second file days later, I got mad.
I repaired disc permissions and tried again, still the same error.
So I tried with StuffIt and it said "The archive may be damaged (Error #17537)". I downloaded Zipeg and tried both files-it said 'file type not supported'.
I tried the Terminal:
grant-austins-macbook:~ Grant$ unzip bobbyraynodj.zip
unzip: cannot find or open bobbyraynodj.zip, bobbyraynodj.zip.zip or bobbyraynodj.zip.ZIP.
Same error for the other file. After all that, I restarted and tried it all again, and got the same results
I downloaded workpress on my Macbook
I already have stuffit,, which should be enough to open it right?
I click on wordpress, in my downloads and all I get is a file called wordpress, with a bunch of documents that just seem to have codes
What am I doing wrong, I have searched online for help but everyone says it should be enough to just double click
I downloaded a zipped file from the internet (its stated on it's website that it works on Macintosh as well as windows and Linux) and when I tried unzipping it this message came up: Unable to Archive "thefilename" into documents. Error 1: operation not permitted
I'm on the Admin account so I don't see the issue...
So how can I unzip it? Its happened with a number of files
I have received a 'zip' file from FedEx and instructed to open and print the image, but I am unable to open it with what I have on my IMac.

I am using osX 10.9.4 on an iMac. I am unable to unzip files with either the Archive Utility or The Unarchiver. When I follow the instructions, I merely get another zipped file: .zip.cpgz. (These are files downloaded from the soon to be defunct [UR].)

I have downloaded an mp3 audiobook from my public library's online database that I would like to load to iTunes. When I double-clicked it to decompress it, all I got was a .cpgz file Double clicking the .cpgz file only created the file again. I downloaded other software such as Stuffit and Unarchiver, but got error messages that the file was not recognized or could not be opened with that program. I also tried to use Terminal and Archive utility, but no luck.

To play wmv files I downloaded Windows Media Player for Mac. It came in a .bin file. Which I extracted using unarchiver it produces a .sitx file. Which I again tried extracting but it shows an error saying this file cannot be extracted with this program. I downloaded WMP from two three sources but got the same file so same issues. And I don't prefer flip4mac as everytime you try and play a video it starts importing which takes time.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am searching for a plugin, software or a solution for a situation I have with an Excel/Word Mail Merge.
It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?

View 6 Replies View RelatedNew Mac user here (these forums helped me make a great, informed choice of my refurbished 2.66ghz iMac), and while the learning curve is significant, I'm loving it, and already realize its just what I've wanted in a computer experience all these years. I talked with someone recently who recommended I download Stuffit for zip/unzip purposes. I did a search here on the forums and noticed quite a few people expressing frustration with it, and suggestions of multiple programs for different people. I'm a very 'basic user.' I'd rather have one program that I go-to and use for these purposes. What free zip/unzip program do you recommend?

View 3 Replies View RelatedBeing a relatively new Mac user, I'm not sure what the best freeware would be for what I want to do, and I don't want to download twenty different programs before I find the right one. So, I'm looking for recommendations.
1) I want to find a program that lets me easily convert .wma files to .mp3's.
2) I also want to find a free, simple program that allows me to unzip .rar files. (This is another case with mp3's, except I have twenty songs zipped into one, and can only play them with VLC RAR-Loader.)
I am downloading a zipped folder which contains multiple .wma files. I need to unzip the file and convert it to for use in iTunes. StuffIt Expander does not recognize the file, there is not an option to unzip from my desktop, and the files do not format if i drag and drop into iTunes.

ive been using my mac to unzip zip arhcive files ive downloaded from the internet and for the past few months ive had to troubles at all. but more recently my mac wouldnt actuallty zip the files. so i started using a free application in the app store called stuffit expander. but now even stuffit expander wont unzip my files. what is happening? the stuffit expander just says it is unable to recognize the file type which makes no sense, and when i use the default unzip application already on my mac it just turns the zip file into a file with the extension .cpgz

Have an older version of unstuffit from 2007. Just downloaded Arc Explorer GIS Reader in zipped format and there is something in the header that makes stuffit stop before unzipping.
So I went to CNET for a later unzipper to see if that is the problem, downloaded MacZip (most downloads with Stuffit 2010 next).
I got an .hqx file and nothing I have is interested in opening the .hqx file or launching or whatever is required.
Guess I'll try for Stuffit 2010 and see if that works better but any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am trying to unzip files straight into my ftp server.
To do so, I am using Cyberduck. I am able to connect to my server, select the file, control click on the file and choose expand.
Then, the cyberduck activity is spinning for ever - without success.
I am also trying to unzip the same file via the terminal.
Again, I am able to connect to my server and put a command line like "unzip abc.zip" but the terminal do not recognize it.
On a new (June 2012) MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.4 I am seeing a process called "unzip" in the Activity Monitor. It pops about every 5 seconds and is using anywhere from 5%-35% of the CPU and then goes away, then comes right back.I am having some system performance issues and I am wondering if this is the culprit.

I'm trying to get used to Mac because I want to write some novels with Scrivener, but I'm mainly a Linux guy. I made a .7za passworded archive and threw it on Dropbox, but now I can't for the life of me extract it on a MacBook running Leopard. I've tried 7zX and Keka, but both of them are determined to create either a .7z or .zip archive rather than extract the .7za. What am I not getting here?
I tried to get 7zip, but all the links I find to a Mac version are broken.
I have a few .rm files (RealAudio 10 AAC), and have done a "container swap" so that the AAC is now in a QuickTime container, and is therefore readable by iTunes etc. The problem is that my iPod won't read these QuickTime files. How can I extract the AAC data into an .m4a file that an iPod can play? I have QT Pro.
