OS X :: Cannot Get Best Resolution To MDP And HDMI?

Apr 14, 2009

i recently purchased hte Mini DisplayPort > HDMI adapter from monoprice. When i plugged it in and turned on the TV the best resolution i got was 1920x1080 (Interlaced) and it looks like crap. The tv is 1080p and when i was using the mdp > vga adapter it worked fine at 1080p. When i tried to go back, (after trying the hdmi) the computer would not display the high resolution anymore.

Hardware :: Push Higher Resolution With HDMI Over VGA?

Mar 27, 2010

I have a mid-2009 mbp. I have an old RCA Scenium L16WD14 TV I inherited.

My vga connection maxes out at 1024X768 on a 26in TV!! Would I get a higher resolution with an HDMI connection?

The VGA response rate is already a little slow. How will that affect movies and the like with HDMI in the event I can push a higher resolution.

MacBook Pro :: Monitor Resolution Changes With Mini Hdmi Use?

Jun 19, 2012

I am running Lion OS on a 17 inch unibody Macbook Pro.  I have been watching television on my Sony XBR television through my computer using a mini-hdmi to hdmi converter - essentially using my television as a second monitor by using mirror mode.  It has been working perfectly until just recently.  Now everytime I hook up the mini-hdmi connection, it is changing the resolution of my Macbook Pro screen.  It is crushing the picture of the Macbook down and making Safari - the controls as well as the screen image contained therein - really dark. I have tried playing with the display controls-including trying to get my computer to re-detect my television.  I am stumped as to WHY this started happening all the sudden.

1440x900 resolution of the new MacBook Air 13.3" screen is simply too high, making everything way too small and straining on my eyes. Is there a replacement LED LCD panel with a lower resolution (1280x800 like the old MBA) that could be retrofitted?

MacBook Pro :: 15" Antiglare - High Resolution Or Normal Resolution?

Apr 29, 2010

It is clear there are people who love their high-res antiglare display; the ability to have more pallets open in Photoshop, see more of what you are doing in Logic. However, there is a fair few of us who dislike the high-res because of decreased fonts, smaller graphical interface things.if you had the choice to go for a high-res or normal res antiglare 15", what would you go for?

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Use Custom Resolution For Tv / Best Resolution For An LCD HDTV?

Aug 17, 2010

So i'm trying to figure out the best resolution for using my macbook pro in clamshell mode. I think ever since i installed snow leopard the new resolution choices i have are not longer pixel x pixel, but actual TV resolutions, such as 1080i, 720p, 420p. In the past I've used SwitchResX to do custom resolutions for my tv but that dosnt seem to work anymore.

I'm trying to find a resolution where text is easy to read. 1080i looks pretty but text is extremely small. 720p the text is larger and easy to see but is very fuzzy and not easy on the eyes. I guess this has something to do with the pixels on a tv being farther apart than that of a computer monitor. It's a 32" LCD TV. I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable (Non-Unibody Macbook Pro).

OS X :: DVI Same As HDMI - Looking To Buy Mini - DVI To DVI Or HDMI?

Jun 11, 2009

I have a VGA connection to my monitor from my Macbook currently cause I had a mini-dvi to vga adapter conveniently. But I heard DVI will be better, so I was looking to get another adapter. Should get a Mini-DVI to DVI or Mini-DVI to HDMI? Would that produce the same picture cause they are both digital? I don't plan on connecting to any other diplays or tv's but would one be more versatile than the other? Oh, and I saw that Apple doesn't make a HDMI adapter, is there a reason why not? I saw it on eBay so it made me curious. I've searched this topic, but I didn't see a thread that answered my questions.

OS X :: Changes In Screen Resolution?

Sep 26, 2010

My wife and I have near perfect vision - for being average adults within our mid 40s. Within our Win XP and Win 7 systems, we set their Control Panel - use "large size" fonts and both fonts and menus become larger. Thus, allowing much better "comfort reading" on their default 1600x900 scren resoutions. Within one location, we simply change its "global level" font sizes and menu sizes, and still have clear screen images.

Do I need a mini displayport -> DVI, then DVI -> HDMI? Or is the process simpler than that?

Mac Pro :: Resolution On Second Display?

Sep 15, 2008

I've connected two LG 22 wide displays on my Mac Pro using both dvi and vga connections, because I have a vga splitter to split the image on the second display to three additional displays. The problem is that the recommended resolution for the display is 1680*1050 (which the primary display has ) but I don't have that option on the list of suitable resolutions for the second monitor. I'm totally new on Mac and probably asking an easy question, but I'm out of options now. How do I get the right resolution on the second display?

Mac Pro :: Can't Get Native Resolution On Second Monitor In OS X

Oct 13, 2010

Here are my hardware specs:

Mac Pro 1,1

NVidia 7300GT (I need a new video card, anyone want to sell me one? [=)

2 x Samsung Synmaster 2494SW (native resolution 1920x1080)

Update:

I booted into windows 7 and I am now able to get both native resolutions.

Though, I am still unable to get both native resolutions (using DVI to DVIs) inside OS X for some reason. In OS X my second monitor is displayed as "VGA Display" and it completely black.

I am not sure why it works in bootcamp using Windows 7, but not in Snow Leopard. I am guessing this is a problem with the OS X configuration.

OS X :: Does Not Detect HD TV Native Resolution

May 19, 2008

I am connecting my Macbook on my HD TV but the osx does not detect the appropriate native resolution. MY Samsung TV has a native resolution of 1365x768 but the osx only detects and offers 1280 or 1920 (they both look really bad on my TV). I used a mini-DVI to DVI adapter and a DVI to HDMI cable. I also tried, without success, to create specific display settings using SwitchResX and DisplayConfigX. (10.5.2) I know that there is not a big difference between 1280 and 1365 but still, it's very annoying espacially that I my old PC with XP detected the right resolution as soon as connected it...
