I remember coming across a new year's resolution app.. I have no idea what the name of it was tho.. does anyone know which app it is? It was to pretty much keep track of the persons resolution list.. I can use a todo list but I am curious what an app dedicated to New Year's Resolutions has in it
Every time I change the artist, iTunes changes the way my albums are sorted. It always reverts to sorting by album, alphabetically. How can I have it sort by year as to give the albums chronologically? I use grid view.
My camcorder is fairly old, it uses a tape, however it still downloads directly to iMovie digitally: don't ask. When I download it, I press import from camera. Then a window pops up and I press record, then it records the tape. However, once it makes a new event for it, and sometimes it imports under 2003! And I can't put it under the correct year!
For some reason iTunes messes up my complaitions if I sort the albums by anything else than "album", such as year. It "breaks" the compilations up (you know what I mean) even if the year is the same. The weird thing is that some (up to 3 I've seen) tracks keep in bundles (even despite having different artists). Also, if the album stays "intact" by some wonder when I sort by year, the track order usually becomes totally random... (14, 4, 2, 13, 3, etc).
Yes, they are marked as compilations. Yes, album artist is the same (blank field). No, there are no typos.
As a disclaimer, I'm on a Windows machine. Can anyone tell me how to set the "sort by year" a default? It's pain to re-set it every time I launch iTunes.
I inadvertently reached my limit of authorized computers in iTunes, and now I cannot sync my iPhone. I tried to deauthorize all, but itunes claims I used the option last July. I don't remember, honestly, but I might have.
Unfortunately I forgot to properly deauthorize my old computers (I wiped them clean) and now I'm stuck.
Is there any option for this? Would Apple support be able to help me? A genius bar appointment? Is there a department I could call? I really need to restore my iPhone from a back up I have on my computer.
I've only recently added release years to all my albums and now I sort by album by year, which is great. However, I'd like to make some smart playlists based on decades, and this is a problem for anything on some sort of anthology or greatest hits collection. For example, the Barenaked Ladies greatest hits CD was released in 2001.
If I tag the whole album as 2001, it sorts correctly, but the individual tracks from the 90's won't show up in the 90's smart playlist. The other option I can think of is to tag each individual track with the correct year, but then the album stops appearing in the right place chronologically within the BNL albums, since iTunes no longer knows it was released in 2001.
So my question is this: is there some way to do a sort of "Sort Year" or "Album Year" similar to "Sort Artist" or "Album Year"?
And while I'm at it, I'm sure there's no way, but it seems like it'd be cool to somehow tie a track to two different albums. Previously, if I had a greatest hits and some original albums, I would erase any duplicates from the greatest hits and only keep them on the original album. However, since the release of iTunes 8 I use a more album-based approach to my music. I use grid view with shuffle off by default, and often just click "Play Album". But if I do that for a greatest hits comp, it of course won't play the tracks that I've deleted from it. So I have to keep two copies of the same recording for two different albums. It'd be cool if there was some way to tie one track to both albums to avoid dupes. But again, I'm pretty sure this'll never happen.
I have the weirdest problems. Every once and a while when I receive a new email, the text of the email is from a year prior. It is the weirdest thing. Anyone know what the deal is and how to fix this?
1440x900 resolution of the new MacBook Air 13.3" screen is simply too high, making everything way too small and straining on my eyes. Is there a replacement LED LCD panel with a lower resolution (1280x800 like the old MBA) that could be retrofitted?
It is clear there are people who love their high-res antiglare display; the ability to have more pallets open in Photoshop, see more of what you are doing in Logic. However, there is a fair few of us who dislike the high-res because of decreased fonts, smaller graphical interface things.if you had the choice to go for a high-res or normal res antiglare 15", what would you go for?
i am using a hackintosh for a week now. I am using it just to get used to Mac OS X because i am switching to a Macbook Pro in a couple months. I switched from PC to Mac officially now. OK, let's come to the main topic of this thread;-At first, my hackintosh couldn't get my gfx card, i couldn't find the driver(kext) so my resolution was very bad. Everything was huge and blurry. I couldn't even look at my 17" Samsung LCD screen. I made an entry to file which was something like this
Who has actually played games on BOTH the 2010 high res and standard res macbook pros?Reading through that gaming benchmark thread isn't much of an indicator as most people don't post their resolution and if they have they have only played on one or the other.Im trying to get a better indicator on the performance difference with newer games. Are we talking 2-6 fps drop or 10-20 or more?
For those who would like to try adapt to hi-res screen of the 15'' but the not sure if they can, if they can't adapt to the hi-res, it's possible to set the resolution to 1440x900 with no appearence differences from the standard res screens? So the appearence and quality of the hi-res screen set to 1440x900 is the same of the standard res screen?
So i'm trying to figure out the best resolution for using my macbook pro in clamshell mode. I think ever since i installed snow leopard the new resolution choices i have are not longer pixel x pixel, but actual TV resolutions, such as 1080i, 720p, 420p. In the past I've used SwitchResX to do custom resolutions for my tv but that dosnt seem to work anymore.
I'm trying to find a resolution where text is easy to read. 1080i looks pretty but text is extremely small. 720p the text is larger and easy to see but is very fuzzy and not easy on the eyes. I guess this has something to do with the pixels on a tv being farther apart than that of a computer monitor. It's a 32" LCD TV. I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable (Non-Unibody Macbook Pro).
I downloaded a YouTube video via Evom and converted it into MP4, which is supported on my cellphone (Samsung S5603 Touchscreen). However, when I sent it to my phone via bluetooth it said it was an unsupported resolution. How can I change the resolution of the MP4 video to a common phone res so it'll work on my phone?
Lately, my laptop has been freezing for no reason. I've only had it for a year now. Sometimes when I open it to wake it up from sleep, nothing will appear on the screen, but the light indicates that it is on.
I know one can improve performance on a PC by defragging and hard drive clean-up There must be someway to improve my 4 year old Macbook there is still over 100Gb of space on the hard-drive?
I've burned CD's and DVD's at times, and all of a sudden the disk won't go into the slot ..... it hits something 2/3 way in and physically won't go in.....Â
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 3.2 GHz Intel 2011 MODEL iMAC
I had an impulse to buy Avatar on iTunes because I fancied watching an action movie in HD on my Mac, but I'm in the iTunes store an it doesn't specify what resolution the movie actually is - only that it's 'widescreen'.
I've searched on Google and not found any results, so can anyone tell me what resolution iTunes movies normally are and how I can find out?
So i resurrected my old DP G4/450/768/10.4 and strangely, it shows 30% more wireless networks than my Mac Pro/Dual Xeon/4gb/10.5 and both HP Laptops running Vista. The G4 has an internal Airport card(i forgot about them there days!). Of course the Airport card knows nothing of WPA encryption and have to disable security to connect. It amazes me that the reception is so much better in this legacy machine.
Say I buy an iMac, My year is about to come up. (I have 35 Days Left) If I renew it with 1 year does that mean I have 35 days to add another year or does is give me another 365 Day count? Easier Mode: Do I ONLY get 365 Days period, even If I renew it in the future say like 60 days after I purchase? Does it reset to the 365 day limit for 3rd applecare. (I dont want to buy 3 years off the bat because incase I accidently spill water on it or something. Dont wanna waste 400 Dollars.)
I went to the refurbished online store and I noticed they are both selling for the same price. One is the latest generation and has all the nice features like 7 hour battery life and better screen, but the other has the dedicated gpu. I will be playing a fair amount of games, and I am wondering if the 9400m will be enough.
I just read where someone said that they 2 year old MBP would not connect without a $160 cable? Is that true? If it is I guess I will be buying that 27" imac
I bought a mid 2010 imac 27 inches beginning of 2011 and the screen already have some greyish color,it takes 300yrs to boot.Apple won't take some of the responsibilities n give a new imac or repair my imac,THEY SAY IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR...
I've been having problems sorting _some_ albums. I'll give you a specific example: I rip Simon and Garfunkel's 'The Concert in Central Park' which has 19 tracks. I want them to play in continuous mode, and in order. I show track number in the columns, make sure all the tracks are of the same album and artist and I don't specify and sort options. Now I click on the column header 'Album by Artist/Year' and I see that track 16 is first followed by 18, 19 then 1,2,3, etc.
I'm not sure why 16,18 and 19 are out of order, but they are and I don't know what other field it is using to apply this sort order since I've turned off the sort fields. I should say that I think the sort fields are turned off since I selected all tracks, hit command-I and made sure that the artist and album are the same, then went over to the sorting tab and selected each checkbox and made sure that the field was blank. Clicked on OK, then went into each track one at a time and verified that the general info and sort info were as I specified.
If I change the sort column to be just 'Album' then it sorts correctly - I think that the year is messed up, so I add the year column to the display and see that it is 1982. I click on the year and the sort is just fine. I set it back to 'Album by Artist/Year' and the same bizzare sort shows up. The same mis-sort shows with 'Album by Artist' so I do a check on the artist name (even looking for leading or trailing spaces - nothing). I could probably delete the album and re-rip it, but I would rather find out why the sort is messed up so I can correct this problem.
I have a mid 2011 27" iMac (the one with thunderbolt) and the display is starting to fail after 1 year of average use (an hour of use every day on average). The display is now much dimmer on the left half of the display (the GPU sits underneath that portion) and also flickers the whole display now and then to a lower brightness.I am about 45 days out of warranty and basically will have to cough up $500 to have it fixed by Apple.Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? The genius bar employee thought that it was something he has seen happen to displays when exposed to heat over long periods of time.So basically playing starcraft 2 and doing video encoding killed my display if you believe that to be the cause. Are there any conditions in which apple would recognize this as a manufacturing defect and fix it free of charge? Otherwise it looks like im writing a check for $500 next week.
