OS X :: Best Way To Stop Popup Ads From Thinsations Appear On My Screen ?
May 31, 2009a pop-up ads from Thinsations appear on my screen often when I login to my yahoo email account. Is there anyway to stop it? I am using Safari.

OS X Mavericks :: Stop Network Connections Popup?
Sep 12, 2014In our house we have 4 macs...two of them are new and I set them up by restoring from TimeMachine rather than with the migration tool as I have done in the past. This was recommended to me as a "cleaner" way to set up new machines (at least on an alternating basis).Â
On these two new machines I get a popup "Do you the application "microsoft word.app" to accept incoming network connections (this is also for excel or any office product). I'm still using Office for Mac 2008.Â
The only way I can find to stop these annoying popups is to turn off the fire wall, which I do not want to do (and which I have not done on the 2 mac books and they work fine).Â
Is there some setting or script I can run to fix this?Â

OS X :: "Accept Incoming Network Connections" Popup - How Can I Stop It
Jul 13, 2010Everytime I open up Office Word or Itunes, this popup repeatedly shows up even though I accept "Allow" every single time.
I have gone into System pref->Firewall and see that it is set on "Allow Incoming Connections".
I've tried deleting it from the list and re-adding it again but it still shows up.
I'm running 10.6.4 on a late 09 UMBP with the latest version of Word and Itunes.
Mac Pro :: MacKeeper Icon Popup On Dashboard And Screen?
Apr 26, 2012I had a MacKeeper icon pop up on my dashboard and my screen tell me I needed to get this to clean up my Mac Pro and protect it from viruses. It looked legit because I wondered how it got onto my dashboard. I installed it but when I moved through the steps it then listed a price which I thought was suspicious. When I googled it many responses said it was a fraud. What can any of you in the community tell me about MacKeeper. If it's a fraud, how do I uninstall it. I tried dropping it in the trash, but it popped out.

This is a 15" Powerbook G4 Model # A1095
I turned it on one morning, and a black screen appears with the following message:
Apr 1 03:19:57 launchd: can't exec /bin/sh for single user: No such file or directory
I have the Software Install Restore Discs 1 & 2.
When I insert Disc 1, I hold down the C key, and the info pops up beautifully. I get really happy at this point. The steps it shows me are as follows:
Introduction
Read Me
License
Select Destination
Installation
I am able to get up to the "Select Destination" portion, where it asks me to "Select a destination volume to install the Mac OS X software"
However, there is nothing listed, so I cannot move on to the next step.

Jun 4, 2007I am having image issues when I play any of the crysis games (the only games I have). Random, irregular, odd shapes and lines start popping up on my screen. Everyone keeps telling that it is because i need to update my nvidia driver, but they never work and cant install. the driver i have now is the one from bootcamp. i just got my mbp a month ago and i hope it isnt a hardware issue. there are no screen problems when i am doing anything else. where can i find updated drivers that will work on my mbp in windows xp?

I'll be on Firefox or the desktop and without touching the mouse or keyboard or anything 'var' appears highlighted in yellow at the bottom left corner of my screen and a speech bubble will define it. The definition matches the one for 'var' in the built-in dictionary but I very rarely use it and have not had it open while this has happened.Â
It happens about once a week and the word defined has been different 1 or 2 times but mostly its just 'var'. The Macbook also freezes occasionally or has periods of very slow loading; something which never happened with my old Mac White. Do I have a virus or something?

Aug 30, 2009I'm having a brain fart, but since I've installed 10.6, if I don't touch my mouse for 1 minute or so, the screen dims. It didn't use to do this before, and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to fix it. My cord is plugged in, and under energy settings I can't see anything related to this...how do I fix this? Is it acting as though I am running off of battery power, and dimming after a minute. I even changed the settings to NOT dim, even on battery power.On another topic, this update actually cost Apple money, because I was planning on buying a new MacBook Pro, but I zeroed out the hard drive and did a clean install, and my old Mac is so fast now, it is as if I DO have a new MacBook!

If I open a file in the open folder, the finder "slides" offscreen, to the right, as the file opens. When I close the file, instead of the Finder window I see the desktop.Â
If I'm working through a folder with lots of file I have to check or alter, this is a massive waste of time. How to change the settings so that Finder simply stays open?Â
Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.2 Splash Screen - Dead Stop
Jun 29, 2014Updated to 10.1.2 via App Store- launches, gets to splash screen, sits there forever. Not frozen (can quit FCPX, for example), but it never goes further.
Tried deleting preferences - same thing.
Uninstalled app as per Apple Support Document, then reinstalled from App Store - same thing.
Tried launching by double-clicking on a library from a previous version - eventually got to a screen asking me to select a library; when I did, app Crashed.Â
Tried restoring 10.1.1 from Time Machine backup -> this worked, and the 10.1.1 ran fine.
Then updated from App Store - back to splash screen dead stop problem.Â
Repaired permissions, verified disc, booted up in recovery mode and tended to disc - no change in behavior.Â
MacBook Pro :: 15" MBP Screen Flash / Blink - Stop It?
Sep 26, 2009I've had my 15" MBP for just over a month, it was a refurb purchased direct from Apple. I've noticed the video issue where the top 1/2 of the screen would flash, blink. It's happened maybe 3 or 4 times. It seems to only happen after it wakes from sleep and the only fix is to reboot. I know i can switch the video card over and from what i read, it solves the issue.
Here's my question, since I can't get it to do it on demand, ( i did however record a video actually 2 on 2 separate occasions) should i take it in for repair now? will the problem get worse? or should i wait it out for bit in case something else goes wrong down the road??

I have tryed to re-install it from the disc but still not luck as it still stops at the apple logo. I have run several Hardware tests and its sais that there is no problems.

I tried it after first getting my Mac. Just this past week, I tried to do it again and it is not working. Not that it is a serious issue however it is more of a curiousity why it stopped. Did some application I installed on my machine cause this feature to halt? Just curious if anyone has the answer. Dec 17, 2009OX 10.4.11. Screen freezes when I stop working on computer. Usually can happen anywhere from 5 minutes to hours after I leave and come back. It doesnt happen when I'm working on computer and it doesnt seem to matter what programs I leave open. Ive tried zapping the pram...disabling the screensaver..I did an archive and install of the operating sysem (actually surprized myself by doing that one ) Ive run a disk utility and hardware check.. My computer is running a lot faster now, but it still has frozen up and needs to be restarted by holding down the button for a few seconds.

I have to press the power button to shut it off and turn it back on. Usually it comes back on slowly and is fine. Just a few minutes ago, the same thing happened, however the screen went blank white instead of black. The music stopped, and the computer was still "on" but I couldn't do anything until I turned it off and back on.

This takes up a lot of time when working on several images.(enlarging the cursor size is not an answer and makes it worse because it's hard to exactly align the cursor with the text or else it edits the wrong line of text).

Dec 1, 2008When dragging a file into a folder window which is partially off the bottom of the screen, OS X will slide it up so that the whole thing is in view. I can't tell you how many times I've dragged something into the wrong folder because suddenly there's a different folder underneath my cursor. Is there any way to turn this off? It does not suit my workflow at all.
