I would like to use Automator to auto transfer files from my film folder to a folder on my externel harddrive. sort of an auto backup system. the problem is, the film titles will always be diffrent when they need to be transfered . I just don't get it to work. any ideas? or better solutions?

I have web sharing on so I can stream all the media on my computer's hard drive to my ipod touch.It works, but the speed performance is pretty terrible. I'm just streaming videos over my local wifi network (not through the net) and the playback buffer on my ipod touch will take a while to start, then there'll be a burst where the buffer starts moving forward reasonably quickly, then it'll suddenly completely stop adding more to the buffer, wait a little while, and then suddenly start adding more into the buffer.
I'm running this on my own wifi network at home, it should be blazing.In fact, I actually get much better streaming speeds into my ipod touch when I actually do watch a video I'm streaming from some other website on the net.
can enyone tell me if you can have one space on one monitor and one on an other monitor?

I can't see an obvious layer to peel, but the top surface feels very "sticky" vs slippery as they do in the store, making it difficult to swipe or scroll effectively.I just don't want to pick at the mouse senselessly and scratch it if it really doesn't have a film layer on it.

I'm trying to make a stop motion film where something floats around, so I went to Gimp and did the steps to erase the rig and I saw it was in iPhoto and it showed the floating thing on the thumbnail, but when I double clicked it to enlarge it, the floating thing just disappeared and I was left with just a background and no floating thing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOne thing I miss from Windows is the ability to glance at the task bar on the bottom and read truncated title descriptors on the task bar buttons of each open window. It's a way of knowing and locating what (and where) each window is by just looking, without having to do anything -- like mouse over an icon, or clicking, or using Expose.
Is there anything I can do to make all open windows have titles or descriptors -- whether it's a file name, or Safari window name, etc. -- in Mac OS? Is there any third party utility app?
I find Snow Leopard to be more application centric, rather than window centric.

Is it possible to have the titles and desrition of the photos stay with the photos out of Iphoto for example dragging to the desk top or into another app.
Seems like it should be easy, but when I move my photos they lose the title and description and just have the jpeg number.
Suddenly, if I insert a cd to rip, all I get is Track 1, 2 etc. If I try to manually look up the cd, nothing happens. Internet connection is fine.

Can anyone explain to me why when I burn a full length film on dvd from my PC using DVD Clone, I can rip the dvd and burn it from the hard drive without compressing. A very simple process. But on the mac the dvd has to be ripped with MTR, or similar, then compressed, then burned using Toast or Popcorn or something similar. Why are these added steps not necessary on a PC. I don't understand.

Ideally it would give a nice long list with columns showing bit rate, resolution, audio bit rate, audio format, video encoding, file type, video length, size, etc. Obviously being able to sort by these different variables would be necessary.
Also excellent would be if the database could somehow sync with the internet and grab information like director, actors, and writers. Does anyone know of something like this? I've got quite a large film collection and it's becoming unwieldy. I'm not looking for things like Delicious Library because those kinds of apps manage physical products not files.
I've read quite a lot about the glossy screens on iMacs and advice offered has been to use a 3m matt film product or remove the glass from the front. Is anyone actually using either of those 2 methods successfully with their iMac? The 3m matt film sounds like it might be awkward to fit without airbubbles etc and might affect sharpness/colour etc Removing the glass from the front could make the screen vulnerable when using things like calibrator devices that need to sit on the screen to work, I don't care what it looks like BTW
Power and features wise the i7 iMac is all the computer I need but need a matt screen is no good for me. I will splurge on a macpro and monitor but its just more than I need and so would prefer the saving
Ive been searching around in a great lot of forums, but I have not yet find the answer I'm looking for. I have got a Canon Legria HF200 (1080i) videocamera and a MacBook late 2009. When I import the video that i have recorded into iMovie (I don't know any other ways - it's AVCHD format) the MacBook warns me that if I'll import in full resolution (1080i) this will might result slow playback on my computer. Why? When i preview the files before I import them the video plays perfectly fine. If I import them to my laptop and then view them they turn out to be played really slow and unclear. Would this be a problem with the way iMovie imports the file, or my hardware? Could it be that my HDD is to slow? This has annoyed me for months,

I can bring up the info window, and I can change the Album name, which does in fact change the name of the relevant directory in the iTunes library. Unfortunately, when I go back to look at my iTunes subscriptions the name of the podcast doesn't change. In fact, the name of the podcast is comprised of text that's not contained in any file in my iTunes library. I can't figure out where it gets the name so I can edit it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOk, I having problems with iMovie HD and titles. On every movie I make the titles are really blurry. Regardless if they are in iMovie itself or exported as a .dv played in quicktime.
I'm thinking I may have some setting messed up, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I'm new to mac and using imovie and I've got a problem which I can't find an answer to when searching. I'm using the titles function and I've noticed that when you apply one they either are placed in the bottom of the screen or in the middle. There isn't a title that is placed at the top.
Is there any way to move the title to the top of the image or alternatively is there a way to add text to an image in imovie. I can't believe that made the titles so limited in function and adaptability.
I have like 500 songs I've ripped into MP3's. Not albums, but just CD's I've collected and burned over years of my custom playlists but only had them on CD's.
So I ripped them to my PC but they all just say "Track01, Track02, etc."
Is there an application I can use to automatically detect and assign song titles artist album title etc.. to them? (if the app is free waaaaaaaaayyyy better)
How do I do the above without having to re-enter all the ID3 tags?

but i have this teeny tiny problem with the subtitles..when i add the sub and finish it i see in the preview that the text is fading(like a ghost of you know what i mean)but i don't want it to fade i want it to be a normal text to despair normally(like movies or anime subtitles)

I'm running an oldish version (5.02) of iMovie on my aging iMac (G5, OSX 10.4.11). I got a matching mini-DV camera this year, and am trying to use iMovie to edit the video.
iMovie allows to create titles (button in the icon dock at lower right). I can create one, and even get a preview. However, I do not manage to actually get it onto or between my fragments. The on-line manual tells (in translation) to "when the title is ready, drag it to the fragment or to the time bar viewer." However, I find nothing to drag and drop. When I click in the little window at the upper right I can only drag the position of the title. Also I do not see any button to click on to tell I'm finished. There is a button to (in translation) "complete", but it is and remains grayed out and unselectable.
i am importing a store bought CD but the song titles and artist info is not coming over. It only lists the songs a track 1, track 2, etc.
