I bought a MBP and now want to create a office setup where I could use larger monitor, an external keyboard, and mouse for using the same MBP.
1. How to do this setup ? Is hooking an external monitor to DVI port to MBP good enough ? Can I use usb keyboard and mouse to connect to MBP ? Anything else ?
Can you please share your setup and anything that I should take care of.

We have wireless internet here in my house, and my MacBook will not connect to it. It's a Netgear router, and my Mac tells me I need a password to connect to it. We don't have a password set on our router. So, every time it tries to connect, it says that an error occurred. How do I get rid of this password thing? I just want to use the WiFi!

From your experiences do you guys recommend that I get the super drive (=10% of MBA cost), the extended Apple Care (=20% of MBA cost), or maybe another accessory I'm not mentioning?
I'm just not sure if they're worth the extra cost.
I mean obviously a bag is necessary to carry it around but which accessories do you use besides laptop cases, bags? Is a keyboard protector, screen protector, stand, cooler, graphic vinyls etc... necessary? There are plenty more accessories. Which ones do you use and think is a must?

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy mac seems to be slower as the days go by. on the start up screen when i first got it i can type in my password and when it goes to my desktop the macintosh hd icon is already there and the tool bar at the top with the battery and time is already there too. but now when i log in it seems to take time to load the macintosh icon and the tool bar. i also bought AirPort Express the little accessory that plugs into the wall and lets you get wi fi off of and wireless air tunes and printing.

What would be the best Windows OS for me to buy for a I'll be using it mainly to run some online poker third party software that can only run with a windows OS. A pro on youtube said he decided to use XP for his MAC since it required less memory. However his article was in 2009, so I'm not sure if Windows 7 would be better and more up to date. I'll be using parallels as well. My biggest concern is slowing up my computer or not having it run smooth. Should I get XP or windows 7? Please be specific. 32 or 64 bit, and what version, Home, Business, Ultra, etc.

I just purchased a new Mac Pro (); however, I was a little disappointed with the sound card for a $3000 machine. I was previously using an older home-built PC with a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 PCI sound card. Would I be able to swap this sound card into my Mac Pro? I'm not looking to improve the sound quality so much; rather I'd just like to use all of my 5.1 speakers. I figure I've paid for 5.1 speakers, so I may as well use all of them instead of the 2.1 I'm limited to with the ports built in on the Mac Pro.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThere is so many mixed information all over the internet. I am a little annoyed. So it's either do you need it or not? I am new to Mac. I need to make sure my computer is taken well care of. I don't want it to have files and things all over the place in the next 6 months and something happens. I don't download anything. it's all basic use. Internet, iWorks and iTunes. That's it.
Windows you need it for sure. Used windows for over who knows how many years. BUT with a MAC no one can give a definite answer? Why is that? I getting confused and getting annoyed. First someone said that you don't need it as the computer does it for you 'overnight'. Then, there is some who says to do it every 2 weeks?
It's happened twice this month - my CPU fans will suddenly rev up to 4,000 RPM, and iStatPro will show the CPU temperature as "--". The first time it happened, I was worried that the machine got too hot. The second time, I had just sat down at the computer in the morning... the top of it was hardly even warm.
Both times, after shutting down and rebooting the fans went back to normal, but the computer performed poorly in graphical tasks such as rendering and gaming until I do an SMC reset, which brings it back to normal.
Even though I've now reset the password again, I keep getting the "Sign in Required" box. This is when I'm trying to install an app.
