View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best way to remove malware from my MacBook Air running Yosemite? I tried searching the forums but most of the answers I found said OS X is immune from them or did not apply at all. I was having problems with copy/paste not working correctly and other weird issues so I restarted my MacBook Air. Now when the computer starts, this ZipCloud window pops up. The last thing I installed was Dragon Dictation. Could that be the problem? Anyway, I just want to know how to get rid of this ZipCloud popup and anything else that got installed that I don't know about and don't want.Â

I have a MacBook Pro running on OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite. I installed a HP Officejet 4620 connected through WLAN, the printer works but cannot make the scanner work. I installed the printer connecting via WLAN. The system automatically downloaded the right driver set.
Later I installed the HP device driver downloaded from HP. After rebooting network, printer and PC the scanner worked. The fun was short lived. Three days later I could not scan. I get following error message:Scanner reported an error..HP Officejet 4620 series is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later.
Of course the printer is turned on and it is connected to the WLAN. I rebooted network, printer and PC. Still does not work.According the the Apple support page the printer is supported on OS X 10.10. On the HP support pages it is not listed.which printer/scanner product works reliable with OS X even after a release update.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI live in Taipei, Taiwan and saw some of these mac commercials on youtube (I went looking for them, and I'm from the USA). I've seen several commercials of mac attacking PC on the viruses thing so I went on the net and did some research. I found there results (which I'm not saying are right or wrong): "One of the reasons mac's don't get viruses is because no virus maker is going to make a virus for a computer that holds such a small market." I can see this making some sense since I rarely see any apple computers/laptops throughout all my travels over the globe.
View 24 Replies View RelatedWhy is it that leopard doesn't get viruses? I've always heard that it's just because Leopard is not used by as many people as windows and virus designers have a larger incentive to go after windows. Does Leopard ever get viruses? Will there be a tipping point where we all of a sudden get a massive wave of Mac viruses? Should I install an anti virus program on my gorgeous, beautiful new MBP Classic?

View 24 Replies View RelatedWhile I am so happy with my Macs, and will never go back to Windows, I've come to realize that I just need to have it in order to do proper schoolwork. I have been toying with the idea of installing Windows, but I know it opens up for all the Windows viruses. Though, can I get infected with these viruses while working in the OSX partition? Except for downloading a few apps onto Windows, I won't be online.

1. Suddenly I am unable to get Google.I click Google in the search bar (upper right in firefox window)or type it into the address bar and it just hangs.May connect after a very, very long time. Also... many websites will not stop loading unless I click the X in the address bar.Yahoo (which I had never used until now) comes up quickly.
2.I did the security update. The next time I used Google, it opened quickly.Did searches. Back to normal.
Or so I thought.
3.Within a couple of hours, was back to previous behaviour even if I get to the Google home page, it will not do a search.
4.Repeated all of the above with Safari. Same story.
5.Have checked with Activity monitor with Thomas Reed's malware list -
and can not see anything that seems to co-relate.

I have an Apple laptop (MacBook Pro late 2011). Lately, ads have been popping out all over the place everytime I click my mouse to move to another webpage or even within a webpage. Sometimes, the popups open first than the page I wanted. I know this is malware but I don't know to how get rid of them. Since Safari is my browser, everytime the popups become unbearable I would go to the Preferences and delete the cookies....And start all over again. I've called the Apple Support once and they didn't notice anything wrong with my hardware. It's this malware attached to certain programs or sites....

I am running OS X and own several external hard drives, some of which are infected with windows viruses. This obviously is not a problem for my mac but I would like be able to use the hard drives interchangeably between mac and pc and my pc being as old as it is, it probably isn't a good idea to let it find the viruses itself. I am wondering if there is an anti virus for mac (preferably free) that can detect and delete/quarantine these inactive windows viruses.

so lately after switching from windows to mac i've been suffering from Virus paranoia, running scan after scan every day on my pc. now i ask myself, should i have an antivirus for mac?i realize there are only trojans for mac and you have to type in your password to get them but should we run antivirus software as good cititzens? to protect windows users? to stop the spread of viruses? Voice your opinions and what antivirus is best for mac and if we even need one.

I get full page pop-up ads for "mackeeper" and the like nearly every time I click on a link, have annoying ads on pages that I know weren't there before I downloaded this "program", and am now seeing other pop-up ads. With all the new software partitions available for the mac for users to be able to utilize any Windows OS on their Mac, many ask what about all the viruses that comes from windows? Will the Mac still be protected even though Windows is running on it? does the Mac saying "114,000 viruses, not for a Mac," still stand? Give me your input.

Question:Could I have some sort of virus,or has someone "spoofed"my address?
How does spoofing work and is there a way around it short of changing my address?
My son has an iBookG4. Sophus has detected 7 viruses. I'd name them but we're unable to access further info because (presumably) the viruses have blocked his access to the web.
