OS X Yosemite :: Having To Enter Apple ID And Password Multiple Times Since Upgrade

Dec 10, 2014

Since upgrading to Yosemite I am being asked by Apple apps to enter my password much more often than before, to the point that it's annoying. The reason for this usually is not apparent, and happens even though I'm using only my home computers, from which I've signed in many times previously and which should be recognized by Apple, and on which I have elected to stay signed in. Worse, oftentimes when I sign in, the dialog box refreshes, with the PW field empty, giving no indication why my entry was not accepted.

Sometimes I'll have to enter my PW two or three times before it's accepted, all with no alert that the ID was not recognized or the PW was incorrect. It's like the system is trying to call my bluff or having me say it three times before it'll believe me! This happens so regularly that now when iTunes or Mail, for example, asks for my PW, I enter it very slowly and deliberately, so I know I'm not making a typo. Besides, I never experienced this behavior with any prior OS X version.

Is this a new security step—the owner of the Apple ID will continue to enter repeatedly what he knows to be the correct PW even when it's not initially accepted, whereas a hacker will move on to a new guess after a first attempt with the correct PW is rejected?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: My Apple Macbook Pro (Mid 2010) Crashes Multiple Times A Day

Jun 8, 2012

My Apple MBP keeps crashing on me multiple times a day. It used to be rare, now it is so frequent, it is easily reproducable. I have tried the Disk Utility and  shift+ctrl+option+power btn to reset some unit. but it is not working. Is there a Mac guru that can go through the log and let me know what's wrong? I can't believe Apple makes such crappy products. I fell in love with Apple a couple of years ago and have ended up buying many Apple products, now I have started to hate my MBP I got for almost 3 grand just 2 years ago.  May be this is the beginning of the end for Apple, the QA is doing nothing.

Applications :: Unable To Enter Password In Terminal / Asks For Admin Password?

Jul 2, 2005

I am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!

This is my school laptop that I use every year since last year. I had a few problems last year with this laptop but they were enventually fixed. This year my computer was fine until one day I couldn't open my folders on my desktop as easily. I used to just double click very easily and they would open. Now I have to click on each folder 5-6 times before it opens. I restarted my computer about 3 times yesterday and nothing worked.

Aug 30, 2009

I trying to figure out why my macbook pro running tiger has started logging me out immediately after I log in, and what I can do to fix this.I am correctly entering the password (just in case you thought I didn't know the password) as it accepts it and logs in, starts to change the desktop background and then just as the Finder bar appears I am logged out and send straight back to the main login box. It does this for the main User (admin) account. I have tried booting in safe mode and this does the same thing. The Guest login does work however.

OS X :: Why To Enter Password To Move Files And Folders

Aug 14, 2009

Just did "Archive & Install" and when I am trying to move my OLD documents to the new locations, I get a Password dialog box, and it will only move/copy/trash them once I enter my password. I have tried resetting "Everyone: No Access" and "<myusername>:read&write" from CMD+I for all relevant files and folders, but it still does this. This is pertinent to stuff such as ~/Documents ~/Pictures etc, (NOT ~/Library by the way).

Software :: Airport Doesnt Let My Enter Password?

Jul 23, 2009

I have a 1GHz, 12inch powerbook running OSX 13.9 and I have a problem where my airport connection wont allow me to connect to my wireless router.

I can see the connection in my airport but the 'OK' button in the dialogue box to enter the password is greyed out—reminds me of a criticism Steve Wozniak has of OSX where options in the GUI are greyed out but without any explanation of why, which gives you no chance of solving the problem or accessing the option. How frustrating.

The wireless connection had been working fine, but what would happen is once a week or so this problem would happen. Unplugging the router and plugging it back in would fix the problem. But that has failed to fix it over the last couple of days.

The wireless security is WPA personal, the router is a Belkin and the broadband modem is a Dynalink if that helps at all.

(please excuse the use of my, instead of me in the threads topic - ha)
