OS X :: Win7 - How To Share Large DVD Images

Jul 28, 2010

I got my old laptop hooked up to my TV and I use it for Hulu, Netflix etc. I recently started ripping all my DVD and keeping them as .dvdmedia files on my mac.

How can I effortlessly create a connection between my mac folder (which is on an external 2TB drive) with my Windows PC?

Windows On Mac :: Win7 Could Not Display Images Available For Installation

Mar 21, 2010

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my 27" i5 and I've been having a little trouble. I heard about people having issues with screens going blank, so I went ahead and followed Apple's instructions on the matter. I put the files they said on an SD card and started into the Windows installer. But after about two screens, it says, "Windows could not display the images available for installation." Then my computer restarts.

One Thing I've noticed is that there is a colouration shift on large images - Running it on a 1080p Monitor, The cAlculator on the dashboard is Green and wallpapers don't look right.

Is this down to the 64Mb Beast of a GPU or my TV?

Mac :: No Sound On My MBP With Win7?

How can I turn this off? I've played with the sound settings with no luck. This worked before I reinstalled Windows, I don't want to play games (And listen to music, haha!) without sound. Windows On Mac :: Win7 Installation Without CD

Dec 22, 2010

I currently have a MacBook Pro and I am trying to put Windows OS on it using the Boot Camp option. I can download Windows 7 using my university's website, but all instructions for installing Windows using Boot Camp require using a CD. Is it possible to do it with it downloaded on the desktop, or do I need to put it on a CD/DVD somehow and then use that? I'm not sure if I can put it on a CD (with the stipulations of the University share program).

Windows On Mac :: What So Special About Win7

Jan 24, 2009

What's so special about Windows 7? I hear a lot of people saying really good things about it and some even go as far to say its better than OS X. Now, I haven't actually used it, but the new taskbar just seems like its a blown up version of quick launch. You see pictures of what windows you have open instead of words. Big deal. I have to admit the whole dragging windows to the edge of the screen thing is sort of cool. But just that won't make most people upgrade. Its nice that it's not supposed to throw stupid security messages at your face all day, though. What's the huge difference between Vista and 7?

OS X :: Installing Win7 In BootCamp

Aug 27, 2009

I installed snow leopard, the GM version, and after getting nice and settled I wanted to install windows 7, in bootcamp. So I create the partition, and then thats the end of it. None of the start up buttons will work, I tried holding down the X button while the mac starts up, but nothing will happen. The apple logo doesn't show up either. Right now, I booted off of ubuntu, and I'm on firefox. It seems the buttons don't work and I don't know why. Also, when I put in the windows 7 dvd, it just read:

1.
2.
Choose cd-rom to boot up from: or something like that.

Mac Pro :: Win7 Drivers For 4870/GTX 285

Dec 19, 2009

I grabbed a new i7 iMac, and have found the Bootcamp drivers to be lacking, mainly causing display driver crashes. I just loaded up the newest from ATi, but its too soon, to tell if that fixes it. I'm considering returning the iMac and getting a Mac Pro instead. Just curious if this problem still persists on the Mac Pro or not in Windows 7. And if I get full driver access control, as you would with a typical PC? (I noticed that Catalyst Control Suite on the iMac doesn't install, it will only install the drivers, so no fine-tuning access the Control Suite typically affords you)

Windows On Mac :: Customizing Win7 To Be More Like OS X

Feb 16, 2010

Having just installed a fresh copy of Win7 (again) and getting a real good look at it, I find the file management to be utterly appalling compared to OSX. The control panel is a big mess with everything ordered hapazardly (why couldn't MS borrow from Apple's system preferences??). The Explorer is a joke. I want my directory hierarchies to expand in columnar format like it does in the finder. Also, when I drag files from one explorer window to another explorer window, the target explorer window should get the primary focus when I hover over it but it doesn't. I have to actually alt-tab my way to do that (in the non-sensical way Win7 does it). Start Menu and task bar just doesn't compare to the dock. Does anyone know of any enhancements to Win7 that can mimmick the behavior of OSX's finder, add a dock and any other important refinements to this rather bloated and badly designed OS?

For some reason I copied a few sensitive documents into partition Bootcamp, then I moved them to trash when in OS X, then when I go to secure delete it gives me this error: (you can click the image to see it full size). I then tried going into Win7 to securely delete it from there but Win7 does not seem able to access that partition.

Windows On Mac :: Getting MBP To Solely Run Win7?

I am leaning towards getting a 13" MBP when they come out (hopefully this tuesday) with the plan to solely (or mostly) run windows 7. I understand that there have been a number of issues in the past including keyboard backlight constantly on, sensitive trackpad, battery life issues, etc. It seems that a lot of these issues have been resolved via driver updates--is this the case? Has the trackpad issue been resolved? Overall, would you recommend getting a MBP to run windows?

Windows On Mac :: Win7 On Bootcamp Not Seeing USB HD

Jul 20, 2010

I just installed Windows 7 on my bootcamp partition. I have a macbook pro intel. Everything is loading fine, i ran the windows 7 update and all things are up to date. I now need to load my bootcamp drivers. I restored my Snow Leopard image file onto a portable HD. Double checked in osx and everything loaded fine.

Now, my problem is.. from Windows 7, when I plug in my usb hd, it does not load. Is there a reason why windows does not recognize the usb hd as a bootable install disc? When I am back in OSX and plug in the drive, it loads just fine. Anyone know if there is something I can do to get windows to boot the usb drive? The last resort I want to do is burn the image file to dvd.

MacBook Air :: Set Up Win7 With Bootable USB?

Jun 24, 2012

I've recently bought a used macbook air 2010 model and i've been trying to bootcamp windows 7 onto it. as you know the air doesn't have an optical drive so i have a windows 7 iso mounted on a usb drive.

note that this is my first time using osx.

the steps i've taken so far are as follows:

-Run Boot Camp Assistant

-Downloaded latest Windows support software onto a separate usb stick.

-Set up the desired partitions

The windows 7 usb drive is plugged in and when i click "install", it says the installer cannot be found. I've searched online for solutions but none succeeded.
