Sep 17, 2009I've had issues with this before but now I can't seem to get the scroll button to work for any longer than 10 minutes or so. I have used clean cloth or mousepad to work button so that it works and used spray can air to clean out still...only works for a short time before it stops scrolling up or down. If anyone else has had this issue and solved it, can you let me know how to fix mine? I am feeling like this thing is a piece of junk right now.

Nov 25, 2010My Bluetooth mighty mouse isn't tracking at the moment. Not at all. Everything else (clicking, side buttons, scrolling) works fine, but the other day, for some reason it just stopped tracking. I've never had any problems with it before, so I'm a bit confused.

Aug 22, 2010I just recently submitted a service request for my Apple Mighty Mouse, which despite all attempts at cleaning still refuses to scroll down. A hold was put on my account in the amount of $69 for the new mouse, until I return the old of course. Does this mean that Apple is going to replace my mighty wireless mouse with a Magic Mouse? The Mighty "Mice" are no longer available for purchase in the Apple store, not even in the refurbished section. I sure hope that they do...but I was wondering if anyone else has recently sent in their old mouse and what you got back.

Feb 6, 2009I have a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo 20" Aluminum iMac. I often have a problem with my mouse not working when booting. I turn the computer on, and more than half the time, the mouse infrared thing on the bottom turns on then goes by the time the blue screen comes. Then I have to reboot again, and usually about 3 times before it finally works. I use the Mighty Mouse connected to the Apple Keyboard connected to a USB extension cable. I tried it without that but it still didn't work. Any suggestions would be great. If none of them work, I will contact AppleCare as I am still under warranty.

Now I'm going to get a new iMac soon, and I'm wondering what the cord lengths of the keyboard and mouse are. Jul 17, 2009My macbook pro has the most annoying problem. Sometimes, in a totally random fashion, my bluetooth mighty mouse and apple keyboard just freeze. Bluetooth shows them as connected but they do not respond. Sometimes redoing the ?set up a Bluetooth device? option works but other times the computer refuses to see the devices and only a restart, followed by the setup assistant will fix the problem. Am I the only one with this problem or is it common? Hardware or software? Any fixes?
btw, I think it started doing this since 10.5.7 so I would say it is software...

It connects to the Bluetooth App that I have (which coincedientialy is running my Apple Wireless Keyboard perfectly) but when it says click ok with the newly connected mouse it does not move, the bottom of the mouse still flashes green.

Jun 1, 2009Ever since I updated from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, I'm now loosing my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse bluetooth connection with my MacBook Pro. At least once a day, my keyboard and mouse both loose connection. There is no lag going on before it happens, it just happens suddenly. I can get connection back to both my mouse and keyboard by simply using the trackpad to turn bluetooth off then on again from the menu bar. Up until last week this was happening on my 17"/2.6GHz/4GB previous gen MacBook Pro. I have now sold that and as I'm sitting here setting up my new 17" uMBP, I just lost keyboard and mouse connection. Grrr. Obviously it's not my machine and obviously it's not my keyboard or mouse as they both loose connection at the same time - it's 10.5.7 I'm using airport wireless 'n' 5GHz only. I also have bluetooth enabled on my iPhone, but always have - and never had issues when running 10.5.6 (or earlier). I have searched here but haven't found anyone else mention this exact problem. Strange. I would have thought that it would be common now that I've experienced it with two MacBook Pro's running 10.5.7. Can I go back to 10.5.6 somehow without having to rebuild?

Oct 28, 2009I went ahead and disassembled my wireless mighty mouse, unscrewed the scroll ball from the lid of the mouse and found a ton of lint and cr@p that has been living in here for quite some time. cleaned it all up, put it together, now all of the little rollers spin freely, great.
I go to put everything together, including the 2 ribbon cables, mouse snaps together, fire it up, mouse works fine, i can click, side buttons work, but the scroll does not work at all now. left to right use to be fine, it was just up and down. now nothing works.
any idea what could have gone wrong? did i forget something?

Aug 27, 2009This is an issue most of you are probably familiar with. The 360 scroll ball on my mighty mouse has become so lodged with dirt (I'm assuming) making it impossible to scroll down. Scrolling left, right, and up works okay at best. When I scroll in the working directions, it makes a smooth tracking sound (tick-tick-tick-tick), when I scroll down, this sound is absent and is replaced by a "shhh" sound, which is the beginning of the word I'm thinking of when I hear it. I've tried the "dry cloth" (when has that ever 100% worked) with no avail, then I resorted to using a sewing needle to get around the ball (which caught a very small amount of dirt). The down-scroll still doesn't work (I mean, it doesn't work AT ALL, it's not functional) and I don't know what to do. I'm sure the mouse can handle more than just regular-consumer workload.

May 1, 2009I know that the general consensus here is that the Mighty Mouse is a piece of shit. That notwithstanding, I'd appreciate posters refraining from engaging in further elaborations on that concept when replying to this topic (i.e., no comments like "Buy a new mouse," please).
At any rate, I purchased a wireless Mighty Mouse about a month ago and was very happy with it until the batteries apparently died. One day the pointer simply stopped responding and the green light on the bottom of the mouse was flashing. I replaced the batteries and the mouse resumed normal operation. Then, a few days later it happened again. I have yet to re-replace the batteries and have reverted to using my now eight-year-old Logitech dual-optical mouse (possibly the finest peripheral I have ever owned). Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Is this mouse having internal hardware or software issues or is it normal for it to devour batteries at this rate? System Preferences says that Bluetooth is maintaining the connection properly, so I am ruling that out as an issue. I would just say to hell with it, and use my Logitech mouse full-time, but my wife hates it and I payed seventy goddamn dollars for the Apple product.

Oct 20, 2009One of my absolute biggest pet peeves with the Mighty Mouse (aside from the input lag), was that you had to LIFT your middle finger off the right side of the mouse for the left click to register. You simply cannot rest your right-clicking finger on the mouse and left click with your pointer finger.

Jul 28, 2010I'll try to keep my post short somewhat: I've acquired what appeared to be my most useless piece of equipment: the bluetooth mighty mouse. I am not against wireless stuff per se, I love the keyboard. But the mouse has these annoying problems:
1. Batteries wear out way too fast.
2. Trackball clogs way too easily.
Now I can do without scrolling down, and might clean the thing one day from the insides, but what annoys me is the battery life. And having to buy batteries every other week. A simple workaround would be to buy a cheap wired mouse. But for the sake of thinking about a project, has anyone with some background in electronics tried, or tried to think of the possibility, of modding a mighty mouse and enable it to get some juice through USB?.......................

Aug 21, 2009So I just bought a new revision Airport Express, so from reading I've learned that the AE can act as a bridge/wireless extender for my AEBS (dual-band), my question is, can it only do either N-5ghz or G2.4ghz, and not both at the same time? Also can anyone give me some ideas on Real Life range I should expect to get with it? If I can in fact only do one band, I'll be doing the G band as N pretty much covers everywhere but G isn't so good at penetrating the walls it seems.
