My Bluetooth mighty mouse isn't tracking at the moment. Not at all. Everything else (clicking, side buttons, scrolling) works fine, but the other day, for some reason it just stopped tracking. I've never had any problems with it before, so I'm a bit confused.

I have the beta installed on my aluminum MacBook and most things are working okay. I can't get the eject button to work for some reason and I can't get my bluetooth apple keyboard or mighty mouse to connect. Is anyone else having bluetooth issues?

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy macbook pro has the most annoying problem. Sometimes, in a totally random fashion, my bluetooth mighty mouse and apple keyboard just freeze. Bluetooth shows them as connected but they do not respond. Sometimes redoing the ?set up a Bluetooth device? option works but other times the computer refuses to see the devices and only a restart, followed by the setup assistant will fix the problem. Am I the only one with this problem or is it common? Hardware or software? Any fixes?
btw, I think it started doing this since 10.5.7 so I would say it is software...
Ever since I updated from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, I'm now loosing my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse bluetooth connection with my MacBook Pro. At least once a day, my keyboard and mouse both loose connection. There is no lag going on before it happens, it just happens suddenly. I can get connection back to both my mouse and keyboard by simply using the trackpad to turn bluetooth off then on again from the menu bar. Up until last week this was happening on my 17"/2.6GHz/4GB previous gen MacBook Pro. I have now sold that and as I'm sitting here setting up my new 17" uMBP, I just lost keyboard and mouse connection. Grrr. Obviously it's not my machine and obviously it's not my keyboard or mouse as they both loose connection at the same time - it's 10.5.7 I'm using airport wireless 'n' 5GHz only. I also have bluetooth enabled on my iPhone, but always have - and never had issues when running 10.5.6 (or earlier). I have searched here but haven't found anyone else mention this exact problem. Strange. I would have thought that it would be common now that I've experienced it with two MacBook Pro's running 10.5.7. Can I go back to 10.5.6 somehow without having to rebuild?
View 24 Replies View RelatedAbout a month back, I purchased a wireless mighty mouse and tried using it with my 2009 Mac Pro. The lag and tracking were terrible, making it unusable. When connected to my MacBook Air (on the same desk) it worked flawlessly. I assumed at the time there was a problem with the bluetooth on my Mac Pro so I've been meaning to get Apple Support on the case but just haven't got around to it (using the old wired mouse as before).
Now, I'm reading some stories on the peripherals forum that owners of Mac Pro's have issues with lag and tracking with the new Magic Mouse, and some are stating that it's a known problem with the Mac Pro chassis that it doesn't enable adequate bluetooth operation due to all the metal. Is this true? What's your experience using a bluetooth mouse with the Mac Pro?
I know mighty mouse might be the perfect mouse for iMac. But is it too big for MacBook pro 13" and downgrade portablity? Should I buy bluetooth mighty Mouse for my new MacBook pro 13" or go for those smaller, lighter and cheaper bluetooth mouse from logitech/Microsoft? Besides, does bluetooth mouse work while using iPhone tethering over bluetooth?

I have to keep plugging in my wireless usb mouse to disconnect the MM and then reconnect it through the bluetooth option. I'm really glad I have the usb wireless mouse, but what if I didn't? My g/f will take the usb wireless mouse with her sometimes, so when I'm at home and my MM loses connection, what can I do to to fix this. I obviously can't move the mouse to the bluetooth option on my top right screen and then I also tried turning it off and on again and that doesn't work either.

I don't want to get a Mighty Mouse due to some of the problems I've heard about re: the scroll ball. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 12" PowerBook G4 (the very last revision in 2006) and I've never had issues with the bluetooth before (although I've only ever used it to move a few pictures from my phone to my laptop occasionally). This week, I bought a wireless mighty mouse and connected it no problem. Yesterday was the first day I used it and it worked like a champ all day. Today, I was using it and in the middle of moving it around, it just stopped responding. My trackpad still works fine, but the cursor stops moving with the mouse, the clicker doesn't work, etc. When I turn the mouse off for a minute and then turn it back on, it works for a few minutes and then quits again. The first thing I tried was to swap batteries, but that didn't help. Neither did a restart.

View 4 Replies View RelatedClicking with the left and right mouse buttons doesn't seem to be working properly. I first realised this when a message box warning me of low disk space popped up and I couldn't click on OK. Scrolling with the ball works, as does clicking with it. I restarted my iMac and removed the batteries from the mouse for a minute, but all that happened was that left and right clicks started acting like middle clicks. A wired mighty mouse works fine. I've tried cleaning it by turning it upside down and rubbing the ball on paper and a clean damp cloth, no change.

A hold was put on my account in the amount of $69 for the new mouse, until I return the old of course. Does this mean that Apple is going to replace my mighty wireless mouse with a Magic Mouse? The Mighty "Mice" are no longer available for purchase in the Apple store, not even in the refurbished section. I sure hope that they do...but I was wondering if anyone else has recently sent in their old mouse and what you got back.

I was thinking of purchasing an Apple Wireless Keyboard, and an Apple Magic Mouse. I'm absolutely sure it'll be a wise investment, and an awesome Christmas gift. My current Mighty Mouse is quite horrible, I don't even have the ability to scroll up. Of course I don't bother to waste my time cleaning it. Oh well, they don't have a scroll bar for nothing.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if my Mac has the proper capabilities to enable usage for the wireless perpherials I'm planning to buy. This is somewhat how my Mac looks, though I'm running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (I purchased the disk). I believe my computer has Bluetooth, there's an Icon for it in System Preferences. In my System Profiler, it also has a Bluetooth tab (here's the information is shows, I just cropped out some info. at the top, and my name).
How do I know if my Mac is set for these two items?Looking forward to your responses.
This is an issue most of you are probably familiar with. The 360 scroll ball on my mighty mouse has become so lodged with dirt (I'm assuming) making it impossible to scroll down. Scrolling left, right, and up works okay at best. When I scroll in the working directions, it makes a smooth tracking sound (tick-tick-tick-tick), when I scroll down, this sound is absent and is replaced by a "shhh" sound, which is the beginning of the word I'm thinking of when I hear it. I've tried the "dry cloth" (when has that ever 100% worked) with no avail, then I resorted to using a sewing needle to get around the ball (which caught a very small amount of dirt). The down-scroll still doesn't work (I mean, it doesn't work AT ALL, it's not functional) and I don't know what to do. I'm sure the mouse can handle more than just regular-consumer workload.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOpen a Terminal Window and type the following: defaults write -g com.apple.mouse.scaling 5.0. "5.0" being the number designating the speed. Change that number to whatever you like. I've got my Magic Mouse set to 150 or so. This does not change the acceleration, just the scaling. Altering the setting via the preferences pane overrides the Terminal command. Log out and back in to activate. For a more complete solution, get USB Overdrive.

That notwithstanding, I'd appreciate posters refraining from engaging in further elaborations on that concept when replying to this topic (i.e., no comments like "Buy a new mouse," please).
At any rate, I purchased a wireless Mighty Mouse about a month ago and was very happy with it until the batteries apparently died. One day the pointer simply stopped responding and the green light on the bottom of the mouse was flashing. I replaced the batteries and the mouse resumed normal operation. Then, a few days later it happened again. I have yet to re-replace the batteries and have reverted to using my now eight-year-old Logitech dual-optical mouse (possibly the finest peripheral I have ever owned). Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Is this mouse having internal hardware or software issues or is it normal for it to devour batteries at this rate? System Preferences says that Bluetooth is maintaining the connection properly, so I am ruling that out as an issue. I would just say to hell with it, and use my Logitech mouse full-time, but my wife hates it and I payed seventy goddamn dollars for the Apple product.
One of my absolute biggest pet peeves with the Mighty Mouse (aside from the input lag), was that you had to LIFT your middle finger off the right side of the mouse for the left click to register. You simply cannot rest your right-clicking finger on the mouse and left click with your pointer finger.

I have tried the Magic Mouse, Logitech, and Microsoft mice and they all track slow while using the Mac OS. The Logitech and Microsoft mice track fine with Windows. Tracking speed is turned up to the max with the Mac OS. I understand that third party software such as better touch tool and others (don't recall the names). Will they help and are they safe downloads? Do you suggest a particular one?

I have both loaded operating systems on my new MP and it just feels like the mouse tracks better in Windows... like it's just snappier as if it had a higher refresh or sampling rate. I've actually always noticed this going back and forth between Macs and PCs for years -- the mouse just works better in Windows -- maybe Windows has better mouse drivers or something because it just feels more responsive. I should try an old ball mouse to see if it's the optical factor. My mouse on the Mac just feels ever so slightly choppy. Maybe I need one of those special optical mouse pads(?)

This is the "problem" I'm having:
I connected an external mouse (logitech) to my computer, and went into system preferences and set tracking speed to max. The response I get from the mouse is still a bit slow for my liking in Mac OS X.
Also the really annoying bit is that when I move my external mouse slowly, the tracking is extremely slow.
When I boot into windows 7 (via bootcamp), the tracking is just perfect.
I guess external mouse tracking in Mac OS X is not "windows like"?? Is there a way to fix this?
I got the Magic Mouse I bought like two days ago. I'm very new to Mac and I've been wondering if there is any way to make the Mouse Tracking even faster than it's possible on the System Preference.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy new Magic Mouse appears as a wireless Mighty Mouse on my iMac 10.6.2. When I open the mouse Preferences Panel, I get the options for the Mighty Mouse, not the Magic Mouse. It worked fine on my hackintosh with 10.5.8 but not with 10.6.2, so it seems the culprit might be in 10.6.2? It seems that USB Overdrive is the culprit for some, but I don't have it.
