Before you ask...NOT the custom dictionary...it doesn't contain the words I'm having trouble with.
How can I remove "incorrect" words from the basic Mac Dictionary? E.g. when I type the word "internet" anywhere in an application, browser, Google, etc. it auto-corrects to "Internet" (capitalized). The word "internet" doesn't need to be capitalized.
Same thing when I type "website"...it auto-corrects to "Web site" which is really dumb. Neither of these are in my custom dictionary, so where the heck are they and how can I remove them?
OS X keeps autocorrecting 'servient' to 'servent'. If I highlight, right click and select 'Look Up...' it can't find the word. Is there a way to add it to Lion's dictionary?

I have an older build of snow leopard and i can't upgrade it to the newer build, it just doesn't find any new updates, I have Mac OS X 10.6 (10A354).
View 4 Replies View RelatedUsually, when you type a word on the search bar, it will display many words that are related to your search, like when I am searching for the word "lamb"...
And it will display the definition when you click on the word.
However, when I use it on my Mac (MacBook Pro 13"), it display nothing, just a blank, like this when I looked at the word "lame"...
I recently had to reinstall Windows for Mac 2004 because it refused to spellcheck my document (slightly annoying).
I remember that I had to download a plug-in in order to be able to add words to the dictionary. A technician did this, so I dont remember what the plug-in was.
I have somehow added the word "indadvertedly" to my dictionary. This is not a word in any known language. I have tried opening in TextEdit, Mail, and Word. I have tried right-clicking and choosing "Unlearn." Unlearn is not an option. I have tried opening Library-Spelling and editing the contained file (dynamic-text.dat) but this is not the spelling dictionary file and only contains a jumble of almost random letters. It is the only file in that folder. How to remove a custom word from the dictionary? I feel like it really shouldn't be this hard.
I am running OS 10.7.3, Word for Mac 2011, TextEdit 1.7.
I have a macbook 2,1, the white one. Has anyone else had their regular built in sound just stop working right after upgrading to snow leopard? I can get sound to play through headphones, but once I up plug them the little sound icon in the menu bar will grey out and I will not be able to get sound to play through the internal speakers.
If I go to the Sys Pref > Sound > Output Pane, it will say "The selected device has no output controls" in the Settings for Selected Device section.
I upgraded my girlfriends laptop to Snow Leopard even though she could care less. Now she's all mad cause the sound doesn't work.
I hate MS Word, but I find that I can't get rid of it just yet. I love Pages, but I need the thesaurus capabilities of word. I need to be able to right click on a word and have synonyms come up in that very menu, no opening dictionary or another pop-up.
View 13 Replies View Relatedafter doing my upgrade to snow leopard whenever i go to open microsoft word 08 for mac, it prompts me something about "xxx" was a font downloaded from the internet do you want to allow or not allow... but it doesn't do it once... it does it for every font soooooooooooo annoying. i ended up having to just force quit. is there a way i can fix this without having to sit and allow all of those? not clue how long it will take cause it kinda hangs a little in between each prompt. it didn't do this before i upgraded to snow leopard. i need to have access to word by this weekend cause i have a class that starts on saturday.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading? to Snow Leopard, i found my HP 3055 Printer didn't work, nor did MS Word2008 work without crashing. I finally got through the printer issue by re-loading a driver, but after removing and re-loading Word, I still have issues. I've repaired permissions, verified the disk and I still find it crashes when calling up a file. This app is impossible to work with, so what to do next?

Whenever I type a word into a search box, the same word, or a word the computer thinks I wanted to type appears next to it. I would describe it as intrusive, unwanted predictive tet, and I cannt find a way to prevent it or switch it off. I'm using Snow Leopard on a Mac Mini.

Today, after updating to Snow Leopard, I have been noticing that when I have been working on a word document (Office 2008), when I quick (command + q), it will go to close and then suddenly crash asking me if I want to send a crash report and relaunch. Has anyone else been having this happen to them? It has happened a few times today to me. it is always when I am quitting with a document open (but saved).
View 24 Replies View RelatedI need a word processor for Snow Leopard that will read and write to the .doc and .rtf formats. I had NeoOffice but it is basically far from ready for prime time. It will not format picture inserts properly and dropped two out of three pages of my document when I saved it. Yes, I did have the Snow Leopard upgrade for it.

I did not opt for google chrome or gmail to be my default email --- not ever! Yet when I opened up my email preferences, gmail was chosen. I had to shut down after I rechose Mail as my primary email. I found this link at Office: Mac. [URL]. Now everything is working again.

Is there a way to 'bulk' add new words to the InDesign dictionary? I do a lot of menus and a lot of the food terms come up as spelling mistakes.
I was wondering if there was a quicker way to customize the dictionary than telling the spell check to learn the words as I go. EG add one huge text file to the dictionary with all the words or something.
