The glowing Apple Logo behind the screen seems to be glowing a slight purple colour, but mainly white. Is this normal due to the screen being so thin?

Why does the apple logo briefly turn red when I switch on my Macbook Pro before reverting to grey and starting up normally? I hadn't noticed it doing this until recently.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis situation began when I put my Imac on sleep. After, the screen turned on in black whit the cursor but I couldn't do anything.
Then to rebooted the machine, the apple logo and sound began fine but the screen turned off, so moving the mouse the screen turned on in black with cursor.
I'd tried many ways, resetting the PRAM, SMC, repairing the disk and permission, analyzing hardware, repairing fsck files.
Suddenly, when I entered in Verbose mode, mi imac brought into user choose screen and worked fine, but when I shut down and tried to start my mac in the next day, it didn´t work again.

I bought a MBP 13" at the end of november and had no problems untill last night. On the glowing white apple on the front of the laptop there is now what looks like a grey smudge. It doesnt rub off though and it appears to be inside and not a surface mark. Could this be a dead pixel or something? it doesnt affect the main screen but is really bugging me.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI own an iBook G4. I could not get it to boot up, it would just go to a grey screen with the apple symbol and a timer/clock that looked like a gear.FYI: I may provide more information than necessary in the text below. I'm not sure what is and isn't relevant.
Following some advice I found in this forum I got out my old OS disks to boot from the disc instead of the hard drive. I intended to archive the old hard drive and install my latest OS (10.4.6 on the disc, 10.4.11 was the version I had been running on the machine, I believe). The machine told me it needed 4.5 Gb to install 10.4.6 Tiger, but I only had 4.0 Gb left on the hard drive. So instead, I archived and installed with the OS that came with the computer originally, 10.3.4.
I got things going, did the archive and install, and got to the log in screen. Unfortunately, I could not remember the password, so I booted up in single user mode, and entered the following to get into the machine:
1. mount -uw /
2. rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
3. shutdown -h now
This got me in with a new admin login, and I started up in 10.3.4. I soon noticed that I could still see all of the files that I put on the hard drive on my old operating system. I thought I shouldn't be able to see them, but since I could I decided to try to copy them to an external hard drive. When I did, I got an error message saying that there was a read/write error. I was not entirely surprised, but I decided it was time to turn back to the forums for help.
What I want to do is copy everything from my old hard drive onto an external hard drive, make room on the iBook hard drive to reinstall my latest operating system (10.4.6). Once I've done that I'd like to get the essential files back onto the iBook from the external hard drive and continue using my computer (even though it is a dinosaur).
Pretty smooth sailing until I had to reboot my mac pro. It just stops at the point where you have the grey Apple logo and the spinner.
I was wondering if there is such a thing as a sticker to make the white glowing Apple, black.
I want the Apple to match my iMac's. I don't want it to be completely black without the glowing light though.
If it does exist, where can I buy it?
I have had my MacBook for almost two years and the battery had just died on me. So I sent it back to Apple and got a new one. But ever since switching over to this new battery, my computer has had issues starting up. A grey screen fades into white and the Apple logo never appears. The computer will just stay like that for hours. A friend suggested turning the power off and back on, holding apple+ctrl+P+R, which worked. However, the next time I turned my computer on, the screen stayed white again, without an Apple logo. Can you tell me what the deal is? Should I bother reporting this to Apple? Is this permanent damage I'm going to have to go thru everytime I start me laptop? Any way to fix it? Thanks.

It's made out of aluminum and has enough space on the back for a logo to be present. Apple put's their logo on everything that has enough space for one. The old remote had it, mouse, keyboard, MacBook/MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPod's, iPhone, docks, and gift cards all have it. Their earphones don't have it because they are to small to put a logo without making them look stupid. I wonder what Jonathan Ive and Jobs were thinking when they decided to not put the logo. The back of the remote almost seems bare without it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad (used) iBook G4 several months now & thoroughly enjoy it, even tho' I live in the sticks where there's no hi-speed/wireless available; I connect to internet & power, which is fine.
This weekend I went to turn off my iBook & it wouldn't turn off. It's now permanently on, with opening info barely visible (like I need to click on F2 to brighten up, except nothing happens).
Currently using my "back up" computer, my iMac Grape, which is pretty much an antique by now.
I have a problem with my 17'' MBP unibody:
1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.
Back to 1)
What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.
my first night with my new Macbook was last night! All is great so far, just one questions though. When I was in the bed las night, the apple logo was so darn bright in the bedroom it woke the wife up once! Can I turn that sucker down a little for night time use, or should I position the pillow to cover the back up?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI own a 17" iMac Core 2 Duo. It has been crashing more and more lately. Now when I turn it on, it sits at the apple logo. The spinner does not appear. I tried new sticks of ram, and same thing. I can boot off a windows or Linux cd with the c key, but they freeze halfway through bootup. I ran a hard disk check also.
Does the Apple logo still light up on the MacBook Air whenever the screen is on? Like this:

Is there malware or something causing it? I had a movie on the DVD slot, it that caused it. It wasn't spinning though.

You'll notice this person's hard drive is labeled simply using the Apple Logo. I've seen alot of screenshots that use this symbol. How do I do it?
I have a 2nd gen Mac Mini that when booting chimes and goto the Apple logo with the circle below it. I tried once, let it go for about 10minutes before holding in the power button and trying again. It's been at this point for about 30minutes.

Has anyone got a solution?! !
Does anyone know of a way to JUST change the apple logo in the menubar?
I want to change it to this image:
I'm on Snow Leopard and have SnowTunes Noir installed, and I'm not a big fan of the Apple.
My circa 2006 Intel-processor iMac does not get beyond the white screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel when I power it on. As per other support documents (Article: HT1533; discussion "Mac doesn't boot") I have tried and SMC reset, all of the keyboard controlled reboot options (with no response - and now a disc is stuck in the optical drive), reset the RAM, etc. Apart from taking it to my trusty local Apple store

When I start up my MacBook Pro I get the apple logo but for the past few days when starting up the apple logo now goes pink, does this mean that there is a problem ?

Just makes my DVD look a little too "Home Movie" ish.

Has anyone here tried/done this to their MacBook? The site that sells it say it is extremely difficult. MacBook Pro is easier. I like to hear your input if you've attempted this.
