how to remove the black borders that appears around pdf links in Preview? Â
I created the pdf from powerpoint. The black lines around the transparent rectangle links only appear in Preview and not in acrobat for mac or pc.Â

I am having a problem with symbolic links getting corrupted. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.7.3.
I have defined symbolic links:
/Users/walker/G2S -> /Volumes/L2A/G2S [this is pointing to a different partition on the same JBOD RAID]
/home -> /Users
The second link was created after unmounting /home and removing it from the /etc/auto_master file. Both symbolic links worked for several days. But then for some reason, without a reboot, the links became corrupted:
> pwd
/Users/walker
> ls -al G2S
lrwxr-xr-x 1 walker staff 16 Mar 24 03:08 G2S -> X??G???GÒ?G???G
> cd G2S
G2S: No such file or directory.
Same nonsensical definition for /home link. I repeat, this did not happen after a reboot. It first happened on /home. I thought that might have been related to a new OS handling of the "/home" label. So I deleted the /home link and did a clean reboot. The G2S link was created after that reboot, not before.
After the above two problems happened, I created a new symbolic link:
/Users/walker/G2S2 -> /Volumes/L2A/G2S
I then did not use this new symbolic link in any of my processing scripts. A few weeks went by, then this link somehow got corrupted too:
lrwxr-xr-x 1 walker staff 16 Apr 2 17:22 G2S2 -> G???G1?Gu?G
How symbolic links are managed on a Mac (any process that controls their linking?), or For example, could it be due to bad RAM? I have 32 GB.

I checked on the internet, but none of the download links were valid, all expired. I had the whole of Preview on my desktop, instead of an alias, and I accidentally deleted it. So could someone please send me it using an online download link (I don't want to get out my installation disk).

I seriously thought that this was a new trend of some sort....I noticed a lot of sites lately have Helvetica showing up as outlines rather than solid letters.Today I just happened to bring it up to a friend of mine and asked him what he thought of this new trend showing up and showed him a site as an example and he said "what are you talking about" and showed me a screen shot....his looks normal....mine looks like outlined letters.
Does anyone know why this would be happening? It happens in both Safari and Firefox for me....I'm thinking it might be a font installed on my computer somehow overriding a default font but how would I look into something like this or fix it?lease help - now that I know its not some new trend to have outlined letters....I want it back to normal!Heres the same images we swapped...mines the dumb looking one.Its not EVERY font....just THAT font and only when in bold.
I'm wondering how do you print grayscale or black and white when printing PDF files in Preview?

Is there anyway to open a eps where the artwork is bigger than the artboard (if the artboard is set to max, if there is a max?) in illustrator?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just scanned some negatives (about a 3 hour endeavor) and when I rotated some of the images in TIFF format in Preview, there is a pause as it loads in the information, and then the photo turns black. I tried running it in Photoshop and the images are still black. Is it because the file size is too large so preview decides to throw away all of the information? Are there any ways to get these photos back? Â

In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? I'm forced then to remove the link it adds to my iTunes library after every preview.

I'm looking for a few good ways to transport and use my UMB. I figure buying a hardshell case & a timbuk2 bag seem like a good combo. Question is - which do you guys think is better, the Speck or Incase cases? Anyone have any experiences? I had the Incase hardshell for my old whitebook.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?

I know i could use software updates but i want to re-install the programs so that won't work

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a PDF document (actually, several PDF documents, but for a single purpose) that contains information on various points in music with links to examples that should play when clicked.The problem is, when I click on the links, nothing happens.They are in a folder just beneath the folder that contains the PDFs and I can easily Spotlight for them and run them, but would prefer clicking on the link and getting them to run by themselves.Is there anything I can do to make the links load themselves?BTW - I'm opening the PDF in Preview. Links to pages seem to work fine, it's just the links to the music examples that don't seem to work. Should I be using Acrobat Reader instead?

Also, on facebook non of the buttons at the top left (Friend requests, messages, and notifications) are visible but they work. HELP! Tried it with four different Macs, using different OSes, even used Mozilla and iCab. The main page displays. But clicking a link, zero response. Nothing happens. Can't navigate. Didn't have this problem a couple of years ago. I'd love to leave feedback for DirecTV but, as I say, can't even do that. Anything? These guys charge $$ for phone orders, and tell you to just go online. I'm using 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac, 4 GB RAM, OS10.5.8. (But same problem with my laptops, other OSes and non-Safari browsers.
Lately, I am not able to open any web links from my safari. This happens only when I click on short link on webpage by which I expect it to open another webpage of a different website. Interestingly, I am able to open the same links from the same MacBook but from from a different log in account! I have tried Safari, Firefox, Chrome but with same results. There is something in my profile which is causing this. Any ideas?
I tried to click the 'Download Beta' from Apple/facetime today and it has the same results too.
For the past few days, when I try to click on a URL link from an email, Firefox will open up but not to the link. I have to right click and copy link and then paste it into the location bar. Very frustrating.
I have also noticed that when I double click on a .html file from Finder, I get a pop up window asking me if I want to open it up and I click "yes" (this is normal), however, once I do that, nothing happens, but if I double click it again, it will open up in Firefox. And each time I do that for each file, the file is not opening up in a new tab, but in a new session of Firefox (my preference for this is set to new tab instead of new window).
I have checked both Firefox and Mail preferences but can't find anything about links to assist/guide me. Any and all advice is welcomed because I am stumped.
I can't seem to find the right preference order to make it so when I click on a link that should open a new tab, it instead keeps opening up a new window. I have the first and third option checked in the tabs preference but it doesn't seem to matter. I might be delirious from playing with leopard all day/night, but I just want to figure this one last option out before bed. I Would like to open links in new tab WITHOUT having to hold down the command key.
