OS X :: E-mail With Links Not Being Sent In 10.6.2?
Feb 27, 2010
yes when i send a link/page or replay to a e-mail it do not go sometime i need to rebote and than do it over it ok for a short time it never stay i call apple no help i am used window on my mac mini
For the past few days, when I try to click on a URL link from an email, Firefox will open up but not to the link. I have to right click and copy link and then paste it into the location bar. Very frustrating.
I have also noticed that when I double click on a .html file from Finder, I get a pop up window asking me if I want to open it up and I click "yes" (this is normal), however, once I do that, nothing happens, but if I double click it again, it will open up in Firefox. And each time I do that for each file, the file is not opening up in a new tab, but in a new session of Firefox (my preference for this is set to new tab instead of new window).
I have checked both Firefox and Mail preferences but can't find anything about links to assist/guide me. Any and all advice is welcomed because I am stumped.
How do you tell Mail.app to open links in a new tab in firefox? I have firefox set to open links in new tabs, but whenever I click a link in mail, it opens a new window.
I have three mail accounts setup in Apple Mail app: Gmail, work email and Me.com email. Whenever I receive an email with a hyperlink in it I hover over the link and it displays the hyperlink address with "blocked" added to the beginning. Once I click on the link I receive a message which says "Error: No associated application could be found". This happens no matter which email account I am accessing and works with both http and https type links. I recall having a similar problem using MS Outlook on a Windows machine.Â
By accident I activated the mailto handler on google chrome, to be handled by Gmail. I deactivated it successfully but I can't reactivate the mailto links to be opened by the mail app.I googled it and tried almost everything without any success.
After my so-called "techie" son (knows everything, 16 years old) used my MBP last week.Links in email will not open when I click on them, I have to copy and paste them into the browser.
I have recently developed a problem with the Mail application. When I try to click on links from the email, nothing happens. I have tried a few different emails and have the same problem with all.

Using mail is great. My default web browser is Firefox. But when I click links in my mail they open in safari. Is there a way to make it open in a new firefox window or tab if firefox is already running?
Mail has been working well for a year on a mac air. mail had been running on my computer yesterday and, I assume it crashed, because when i got home and opened the computer mail was no longer open. and when I opened it it started running me through setup as if i had never used the program.there was no way to open mail without going through the setup -- that seems to be a problem to me right there.I kept canceling the setup but then it wouldn't launch mail. so finally i went through setup and resetup one of my email accounts. the name of the inbox is slightly different althought , as it turned out, the name of the outbox is identical.
the program recognized that there was already any outbox with this name but instead of linking with that in some way it instead named the new outbox "delivered" that's cool to avoid a conflict but there doesn't appear to be any way to tell the program just to reconnect with the previous boxes. I can import them but then then they come in an import folder. I'd like to get all my mail for a certain account into the same folder, not have what is essentially an archive folder for each account and an active one.
how to reconnect to these old mailboxes as active accounts, or how when importing to merge the appropriate mailbox with the appropriate account.or to restore mailbox settings/preferences or users or whatever was lost. I do have a backup that includes my library files to sugarsync if there is some kind of restore I could try.
Some download links on the internet are re-direct links ie you can't right click to save link as (such as on the apple site for itunes 10.1) for some reason on both safari and firefox with these links it just loads the page and no download dialog box opens, i've disabled pop up blockers on both but it still seems not to work, what am i doing wrong? I know i could use software updates but i want to re-install the programs so that won't work
On facebook and apparently the person who's profile it was, was obviously hacked. I used to play World of Warcraft and I was keylogged a few times from links like this I clicked on when I was on my Windows XP computer. I was just curious if I could possibly get a virus from this on my Macbook pro? I've heard rumors that there are no viruses for Macs at the moment? I know there are a lot of threads about this, but I wanted to tell you what exactly happened.
I've got a PDF document (actually, several PDF documents, but for a single purpose) that contains information on various points in music with links to examples that should play when clicked. The problem is, when I click on the links, nothing happens. They are in a folder just beneath the folder that contains the PDFs and I can easily Spotlight for them and run them, but would prefer clicking on the link and getting them to run by themselves. Is there anything I can do to make the links load themselves?BTW - I'm opening the PDF in Preview. Links to pages seem to work fine, it's just the links to the music examples that don't seem to work. Should I be using Acrobat Reader instead?
The logos and links on a website do not show on safari. For exampe, when I go on google the logo nor the search button shows. Also, on facebook non of the buttons at the top left (Friend requests, messages, and notifications) are visible but they work. HELP! Its just safari because I'm using Google Chrome and everythings fine. Heres a photo of google and apple homepage.
www.directv.com Tried it with four different Macs, using different OSes, even used Mozilla and iCab. The main page displays. But clicking a link, zero response. Nothing happens. Can't navigate. Didn't have this problem a couple of years ago. I'd love to leave feedback for DirecTV but, as I say, can't even do that. Anything? These guys charge $$ for phone orders, and tell you to just go online. I'm using 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac, 4 GB RAM, OS10.5.8. (But same problem with my laptops, other OSes and non-Safari browsers.
Lately, I am not able to open any web links from my safari. This happens only when I click on short link on webpage by which I expect it to open another webpage of a different website. Interestingly, I am able to open the same links from the same MacBook but from from a different log in account! I have tried Safari, Firefox, Chrome but with same results. There is something in my profile which is causing this. Any ideas?
I tried to click the 'Download Beta' from Apple/facetime today and it has the same results too.
I can't seem to find the right preference order to make it so when I click on a link that should open a new tab, it instead keeps opening up a new window. I have the first and third option checked in the tabs preference but it doesn't seem to matter. I might be delirious from playing with leopard all day/night, but I just want to figure this one last option out before bed. I Would like to open links in new tab WITHOUT having to hold down the command key.
so on igoogle.com i click on a link, it opens in a new window, this is really annoying, i scoured the prefrences but i cant find a option to change it. FF opens links in a new tab, so can safari open links in a new tab?
I noticed that some people have have links just below the address bar from sites they previously visited. They just click and a new page appears. How do I set this up?
I need to make Symbol Links for some files and was looking for a way to make them. I don't want to use Terminal as I am just getting used to using a MAC. Is there a free program out there that will do this?
First sorry for my english.I bought the new mac mini last week and I have a problem with wifi and downloads jdownloader. When I put the links in jdownloader it was very slow and there is up and down of speed. In my macbook not problem with the same links and it is always maximum of speed.Anyone have same problem?I've refund two mac mani for this problem.
everytime I click a link to download something it does nothing. The only way I can do is by right-clicking and choosing 'download linked file'. I dont know why this has started,
I currently have and HP C84 printer working with my macbook running osx 10.6.2. All is fine except I only need a printer occasionally and the inkjets are running out linke crazy just sitting around. I am wasint too much money. I would like to get a simple black and white printer, amybe laser, but need to be sure it is compatible with my system.
I was using Sarari 5.1.4 to send Email links, but after installing Google Chrome, Chrome asked me if I would like to send Email links using Chrome, I selected YES since I thought it would allow me to send Email links when using Chrome. Now, I cannot send Email links using Safari. I uninstalled Chrome, but I still cannot send Email links through Safari.
I get the following message when trying to send Email through Safari:
An Email message cannot be created to send the link becasue Safari can't find an Email application. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send email. To do so, you might need to install Mail using the Mac OS X Install discs. I tried the following without any luck:
In a Finder window select your home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder.
Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari and try again.
I have reset Safari as well without any luck. Is there any other way to set Safari to send Email links "File> Email Link To This Page" so that it will send Emails

Periodically, all links on a page (any page including Apple) will stop working. Quitting Safari and the restarting works to clear the problem until the next time. The links fail to work with either the mouse or the trackpad.
