Screen Captured images are no longer going to my Desktop. I can hear the camera click sound but the image is nowhere to be found. Is there a Screen Capture preference anywhere?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes (about one-fifth of the time) when I do a screen capture (using Command-Shift-4) there is a horrible loud cracking in place of the camera clicking sound. I have a pair of Yamaha speakers which are about nine years old but they work fine otherwise, no static, play iTunes great, etc.
Is there a setting I can change that would obviate this from happening? It's getting on my nerves because I'm starting to expect it each time, even though it's the exception rather than the rule. Or does it mean my speakers need to be replaced? I don't do anything musically-intensive on my iMac so I can change settings, but I would like to keep a decent basic level of stereo output.
I'm using a first-generation 1.8GHz 20" iMac with 10.4.11, but will probably upgrade to Leopard sometime this summer.
I ordered my Iman directly from apple and it came with Lion OS installed and I did not receive a Disc with Lion on it. So, I can't download the necessary file from the CD. I have read about how to reinstall this application if you have a disk, which I don't.

For some reason my screenshots are no longer showing up on my desktop, or anywhere on my computer that I can find. When I press Command + Shift + 3 or 4 I can hear the snap sound but it doesn't appear on my desktop. I've tried Spotlight search for "Picture" but found nothing. It was working fine a few days ago, I don't know what happened.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have a Late 2006 xsrv which has always run fine. A while ago, it froze up and we rebooted, all still works fine however the Hard Drive no longer shows on the desktop, nor does it show up in the Finder or in Disk Utility. The server is running Raid 5 and when I look in Raid Utility everything shows as "Good", including the Volume, the Raid Set and the three drives. The strange thing is that everything is functioning fine on the server other than the above. The problem however is that the drive is not showing so backups cannot identify the source to run.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI go into System Preferences, choose a new photo, close System Preferences, the old photo is still there. I have rebooted multiple times, closing all programs first, just in case something open is preventing the switch. I just cant figure this out, I have always been able to change before with no problem. The ScreenSaver is changeable, by the way, that works fine. Â

I have an Imac which used to emit sound from my desktop speakers. Now they've stopped. I've tried Iceclean, turning off bluetooth, and running disk utility repair. All of which hasn't solved the problem. I tried the speakers with my laptop and they work fine. So I  tried a different set of speakers with my Imac thinking it might be the speakers, but they work fine with the laptop. The speakers are connected into the headphone jack. In the sound pane, output source does not show the connected speakers. When the jack is removed from the headphone connection sound is heard from the built in speakers from the Imac. I have the latest IOS software installed.

I have three external harddrives all of which are connected through different ports, all show up in finder, all show up in disk utility, but none of them will show up on my desktop. I looked at a few other posts similar to mine but the answers given to other problems have not worked. There is no way all three of my cords are causing a connection problem and I have repaired and verifyd all the drives and still nothing.

Double clicking an icon in my Desktop no longer enables it to open to give the pertinent information available on the icon or folder.Have been unable to figure out what to do to remedy the problem. Did try shutting down computer, but that was ineffective.

Starting a few days ago when I double click a folder on the desktop it no longer opens. Instead, I am taken to a new desktop window that shows the folder clicked plus all other items on the desktop. How do I restore the double click to open the folder? I have tried resetting the double click speed with no results.Â

My other account is fine. .mac mail comes in fine on iphone and ipad. When using my laptop I can get to it and send from the icould site. What would have caused this/how can I get it back? It is still listed as an account in mail preferences.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 23 inch Samsung LED that I am using with a new 15 inch i7 MBP. Everything was working wonderfully until today when I had to power my MBP off due to a program lockup. Now the picture on the MPB that used to fill the Samsung screen no longer does. It leaves about 1 1/2 inches of black on either side of the Samsung that is just dead space. Some of my programs now hang over into those areas and you cannot see them fully.Why would it have changed like this just due to a power off and how do I get it back to displaying the full screen on the Samsung? I have toyed with this for over an hour now and am getting nowhere.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a cheap used 12 1.33 PB, that has worked great for a couple of months.Yesterday the PB shut off totally while in sleep mode. I couldn't power it back up at first, but was able to after I reset the PMU, and plugged the power cord in. The computer worked fine after that for the rest of the day.This morning, I noticed the PB shut off again during sleep mode. But this time, I can no longer boot it up. The PB chimes, but then nothing comes onscreen, and there's no hard drive activity (so I'm pretty sure its not the screen.)

Sometimes the Black screen occurs almost immediately, sometimes it takes up to a minute after the desktop appears (after logging in). This did not occur until I got 10.7.3 and only within the last 2 months.

when i turn on my mac it comes up with a gray apple logo, and then a loading bar comes up underneath, it stays like this for about 3mins and then logs in. once it has logged in i find it has taken my computer back a few days and is getting very annoying because i loose all the work i did before i turned it off.

Here it is: Code: System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background So the million-dollar question is → Does anybody know of a way to keep this running even after you quit Terminal? Yeah I know, it's a waste of CPU cycles and battery power... but my Mac is plenty fast and is a desktop machine so I'm not concerned about that. So how about a Terminal command to made the above Terminal command not require Terminal to be open in order to continue?
View 8 Replies View RelatedOkay, I am running OS 10.5, and one of my kids did something to the desktop that makes it look "jumpy". When moving the mouse, the screen moves also, since not everything fits on the screen any longer. To see the dock, you move the mouse down, but then the menu bar at the top disappears. It's almost like they did something to make the screen larger than the display, so not everything on the desktop can fit the display (iMac). Luckily, it is not my user account, but still, it is driving me nuts!!

I have to drag the cursor to top, bottom or side to see what is not shown. The resolution is set at 1440x990 in display preferences.
