I transferred korean music from my windows pc to my macbook pro. Not all but most of the korean fonts are all broken up and unreadable. I went to the apple store and they couldn't figure it out. I tried the id3 tags and reverse unicode and the whole 9 yards. I am able to type in korean and all and able to read all korean websites. its just some files in korean fonts that are unreadable.
I just got the new 15" mbp and noticed that safari top sites would scramble itself at times. I've looked around the net and seems like a normal occurrence for people with the new MBP's. My question is, what is causing it? And how do you get rid of it? Is it just a matter of turning off "automatic graphic switching" so it's running on the discrete nvidia card? Is it a software issue with flash or safari?
I've been using my MacBook Pro 2012 Retina with an external monitor lately with the lid closed. Today I tried open the lid without having the external monitor connected and that worked fine for a few minutes. But then the screen got "scrambled".... It's hard to explain but it seems that some pixels are dragged vertically. See attached image. Doesn't seem to stop doing this. If I restart the computer it might look OK for a few seconds, but then it will start looking like this again. If I shut down the computer and wait a while until I turn it back on, it will stay OK longer, but will eventually start getting "scrambled" again.
Just as I was writing this question, using my external monitor, the scramble effect stopped and my MacBook screen returned to normal. Not sure how long it's going to last and I would still like to know more about this.
My MacBook is also really hot right above the F3-F7 keys.
Info: MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I have a Korean language keyboard that I'm using with Lion that has a key next to the spacebar for switching language (han/yang = korean/english). I would like to use this key to switch languages rather than apple space. Is there any way to make this happen? I tried changing the keyboard shortcuts, but am unable to do so. The OS doesn't recognize the key.
I just bought my parents, who live in Korea, an airport extreme and an iPad. I have been trying to load Diablo II on a new 20" iMac with OS X v 10.5.1. I have attempted to load it a number of times, downloaded the patches and tried the "native" installer. The game appears to load properly; however, when we try to start the game it runs through the initial graphics (ads) and then shows a scrambled diablo page (looks like large square puzzle pieces placed in the wrong positions on the screen) and you can only escape to end the game form that point.
fonts must be messed up in Snow Leopard. Some system things display strange fonts. For example, my user name in upper right hand corner of the screen doesn't look right.ALso, the font on the "tabs," in Safari is not correct, and I can compare it to other SL computers.
I have recently got some awesome collection of font from URL but as first time mac user i dont know how to install them on my mac book . I need to install them as quickly a possible for my designing project .
I have searched the threads for an answer, but found none for my issue. I downloaded the new Google Earth app to our new iMac (20", 2.4Gz, 2Gb). It started up fine and looked OK at first. As I zoomed in, the images began to fragment and scramble. The closer I go, the worse it gets. I tried adjusting settings and preferences in both the app and on the iMac. Nothing seemed to work. Any ideas? Oh, it was the latest version, 4.2 something, with the sky images.
Since i updated to maverick last week i got an issue with the Mac Preview app, it opens the documents ok, but when opening several files at the time, the thumbnails are all scrambled and not showing the miniature of the selected file.
if i click on the thmbnails area and navigate with the keyboard's arrows it allows me to go through the open files, all files open ok but the thumbnails is the only part that is having this issue.
I have deleted the com.apple.Preview from ~LibraryContainers but still having the issue.
So, like a complete idiot i downloaded a torrent file with a few thousand font files. i installed them all and it has bogged down my OS and taken over programs like Safari, firefox and entourage (which i use for email). when i change the font in the preference menu in the respective program it will change the size but not the actual font style. another strange thing is that safari will not load pictures now either.
i want to just wipe the hdd but i do not have a disc because i bought it used. i can take it back to the guy i got it from as he refurbishes macs but i was wondering if i could avoid the trip if any one has a tip or two for me.
I just bought a Mac book, it's a 13". The battery life is phenomenal and the trackpad is luxurious. However I find it really difficult to see the text on my screen. In the browser this wasn't a problem as I could zoom in, but the text in the address bar, and in all other applications the font is very small. I looked into changing the DPI for my Macbook and couldn't find a solution. I'm zooming in to see things but it looks distorted and obviously horrible.
I moved to Mac OS from Windows 7 recently and extremely unhappy about the bad quality of fonts on web pages or my email communications. It seems the LCD rendering is not working or something.Below is a screen capture.
I was downloading some fonts from [URL] because I was going to use them in some software. Now it told me to just double click the file and hit "install" I did that and then this window came up and I hit the little + sign to add them. And then it started copying all my fonts I think? I stopped it and then it sowed a bunch of them that were not there? So I basically hit the install button it came up with coulombs in one window. The left coulomb had a list of my name my computer and all that. The middle coulomb said the three fonts I wanted to install.
So in the bottom on the middle coulomb there was a little plus sign + I hit it and it looked like it started copying all my fonts. So now I am stuck. Also once I had canceled the install/copy/who knows what. There was a message under I believe 4-6 fonts that were all in the middle coulomb that said some warning! About the font having multiple or something. Also is said I could use a command to resolve this or something? I don't want to damage my computers software!
I used bootcamp to install windows 7 on my MBP. Everything runs smoothly except the fonts on webpages look very odd. The letters appear to be very skinny.
I just got a new 13 macbook pro and am loving it and for some reason, the icons and fonts are resizing, is it something i am doing without realizing or what?
Just bought new 15" mac book pro with OSX and I'm going blind trying to read the finder font sizes. In reading about this in the community, there are many people who have decried this problem. I want to add my two cents worth to the issue. Even after increasing the page size to adequately read the contents of a web page, I'm still left with the miniscule type of the menu bars. While I see apple has acknowledged the complaints, there seems to be no indication of when or if things will get better. Even the unveiling of the new OS (Yosemite) didn't clarify this.
My System fonts seem to be the default, however using other programs the font is different. For example: How can I get rid of this? I have not installed any new fonts or anything!
I have bought Adobe suite and apperantly I have a lot of fonts, including the one Apple uses, Myriad PRO Semibold. Well, I wanna know, how do I make Myriad a font on my whole computer, web, mac os x, everything. I tried locating it, and this is what I came to:
I am trying to connect my 13" unibody Macbook to my brand new LCD Samsung TV with the following situation:
-Cables: Apple's Mini display to DVI and DVI to HDMI cable.
-TV: 32" Samsung LCD HD 2mp - 1920 x 1080 @ 60HZ.
The only settings that does work:
Anything else shows this:
Could it be a faulty DVI to HDMI cable? even though the lowest resolution works?
UPDATE::
I got the DVI to HDMI cable replaced and now my macbook does display on the big screen, however i am having a problem with colors and fonts looking weird..
Beside playing with the settings on the monitor, is there anything that I can do on the Mac itself? or any apps to modify these settings?
Just bought a used MacBook5,1 and need to load a bunch of fonts to support Illustrator, etc. Is there a way to select and drag multiple fonts over to the MacBook instead of installing them individually? Ideally, I'd like to replicate the fonts in my 24" iMac. Is this a simple copy/paste procedure?
