OS X :: Reinstalling Snow Leopard - Not Prompted For ILife?
Dec 30, 2009
I did a fresh install - and usually it prompts me for the Applications cd towards the end of the installation. For some reason it didn't. I didn't change any of the default options and normally with other OS installs in the past it's prompted me.
After i migrated back from my Lion clone after a clean Lion install, i have had issues with iPhoto. How can i totally remove iPhoto, or another iLife apps, so when i reinstall the software, there won't be several copies of iLife apps left? Where are the pkgs. contents, etc for the iLife Apps on Lion? Also have Airport utility installed several times, and i need to remove those as well.
Oh, and when i reset my TC, i know i need airport 5.6 to set it up, but should i keep it installed and still have airport 6.0 as well? Or should remove 5.6 after i set up TC and wifi network, then remove 5.6 and install 6.0 ?
I had to deleted everything on my Mac and reinstall the OS (which is Lion btw).I noticed that I don't have iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand (the iLife suite basically), which I had when I had bought my MacBookPro. When I go to the Appstore and look for such applications it looks as if I have to pay for them. Is that normal? Why would I have to pay if I had the license when I first bought the computer?
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I am considering reinstalling Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro. At the moment I use one hard drive for the System, Applications and Users.
Is it possible (and easy) to install the system to one disk, and the applications and users to another disk?Or do some applications prefer to be on the same disk as the system?
I installed Snow Leopard long after installing OS X5.5, now updated to 10.6.8. If I have to erase the HD and reinstall all software, Would I have to use the install CD's for both 10.5.5 and Snow Leopard?
I have to re-install my MacBook Pro with the install DVD, Mac OS version 10.6. Only... I'm on the other side of the world and don't have access to my install DVD. A man traveling with me do have the Install DVD, but with version 10.6.6. Can I use this to reinstall?
I'm on Tiger 10.4.11 w/ iLife 06 (on C2D iMac). Everything works great! I'd probably stick with Tiger as it's been very good and stable. However I'd like to get an iPad but see that syncing the iPad with a Mac/OSX requires 10.5 or newer. I figure if I'm going to upgrade I might as well get current with 10.6. Seems people have had mixed results with getting the $30 upgrade disk and going direct from Tiger to SL. I don't mind getting the "Box Set" from Apple. $130 isn't the end of the world. Couple question maybe someone could help with regarding the Box Set: Can I do an in place upgrade of OS and iLife with the Box Set? If in place upgrade fails or performance isn't quite what I expected can I then do a clean install? A friend said his SL performance was much better after he did a format and clean install as compared to when he did the upgrade (from Leopard) on his MacBook Pro.) I will backup my info. Is there anything to worry about with exporting or backing up iLife apps (iPhoto, iTunes, GarageBand), Email, Address Book, etc in Tiger then restoring in SL and iLife 11?
If I install 10.6 Snow Leopard (I am planning to erase and install) how do I keep iLife 08 that came with my aluminium MacBook? Do I just put in the grey disk that contains iLife 08 and it will install fine?
I need to reinstall Snow Leopard over my current Snow Leopard installation because the system has failed. I need to know what will happen if I proceed with an install. Because there are no options for installation, I dont know how to do an archive and install and it is essential that I have my home folder and it's contents intact. Does anyone know if reinstalling snow leopard will automatically archive my home folder or if there is something else I need to do?
I am a graphic designer and therefore have a LOT of software (Adobe, Quark, the usual suspects). I want to upgrade to Snow Leopard on my G5 with 16G of RAM. I have made a copy of my 500GB startup drive with Carbon Copy Cloner and I am ready to wipe the original disc and make it happen. But before I start, can I drag and drop my applications and library folders so I don't have to reinstall everything?
well i dont want to upgrade just yet on my ilife08 right now. i have a white macbook 2.1ghz with 1GB RAM will Snow Leopard run well on this macbook? if so then i hope ilife09 will be included in snow leopard then i'll just buy snow leopard. however if snow leopard can not be run on my 2.1macbook then i'll just upgrade my ilife?
i JUST got a new aluminum macbook in october or whenever they came out... so does this mean that i have to pay 260 australian just so i can upgrade to ilife 09 and iwork 09? then i thought,, that if i was going to upgrade to snow leopard, would this come with ilife 09?? =S i dont wanna pay for ilife 09 twice. can someone help me out? and whats with those software coupons that came with iwork and i think they came with ilife as well...? can i use them to get ilife and iwork 09 for a cheaper price?
if this is obvious, but I was curious if iLife 09 is going to come packaged with Snow Leopard when I buy it or would I have to buy iLife 09 separately?
Does anyone expect to see updates come to iLife 09 to extend support for OpenCL and Grand Central shortly after Snow Leopard is released? Or do you imagine this will be held off until iLife 10? iLife features some of the most resource intensive apps (iMovie, Garage Band, iPhoto) used by most users so I believe that Apple could really showcase the improvements brought to Snow Leopard from both OpenCL and Grand Central by doing this asap. Here's to hoping we don't have to wait long for this functionality.
Is Snow Leopard compatilbe with Ilife 08 ?Thinking about upgrading but do not need Ilife 09' as have only ever used Imovie 08 once so figure this will suffice..
I'm still running 10.4.11 on my late 2007 BlackBook. If I do a clean install using just the cheap Snow Leopard upgrade disk will I have iPhoto etc. or do I need to buy iLife? Also, could you please recommend an idiot-proof, step-by-step guide to formatting the HD and installing Snow Leopard from scratch with the upgrade disk?
I have Leopard, the late edition of 09, or was it '08, in October? Anyhow, I am going tomorrow to upgrade to Snow Leopard mainly so that I can have iLife 11, but it is not compatible with Leopard. My question is this when I am installing the new stuff, do I need to go thru and delete anything at all??? Or do my things transfer over automatically? Also, will this new software, or is it hardware? will it take up more space on my Macbook or does it override Leopard, kind of take it's place and not take up more space on my computer? Yeah, I know, once again, lay(wo)man's terms and I know that I should know this stuff but I don't. I also do not have any external device backing up my stuff, which I know is a HUGE and COLOSSAL mistake. Is there an easy way to back stuff up, online or something? What about an inexpensive way? What do you all suggest for that, backing up, INEXPENSIVELY? Flash drives are out of the question for something of this measure, right? Discs also? I know nothing about this and I'm guessing that before I go installing Snow Leopard & iLife 11, that I need to consider this.
How do I get iLife 08 (which came preinstalled) onto my Mac after I do a fresh installation of Snow Leopard (if possible)? Is it possible to do a fresh install of Snow Leopard? I've heard all sorts of things, but I don't know what to believe. Will I just have to reinstall Leopard and then install Snow Leopard? (Will I have to get all the updates [10.5.x updates] once Leopard is installed before I install Snow Leopard?)
I looked at Apple's website and searched some threads here and still don't know for sure. Want to get my dad iLife '09 so he can take advantage of iPhoto's "faces and places". I bought iLife '09 last year for $79; but does the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade have it as well? He is running Leopard now.
I have a MacBook Pro (Early 2011), which had Snow Leopard on it and came with iLife installed. I've installed Lion onto this machine (initially from the app store, but I had to re-format and re-install). My question is: How do I get iLife back onto Lion?
I've looked in the app store, however on iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band the button doesn't say "Install", but rather "Accept". Pressing this prompts me to put in my password, and then says "Future versions of this app can be downloaded from software update." However, software update has no new updates. How do I get these back?
Since I've heard snow leopard incorporates 64-bit features, does this mean iLife '09 itself will encode movies faster, idvd encode faster etc.? I'm not familiar with 64-bit advantages.
the title vaguely suggests I've recently made the upgrade from OsX Leopard to the Snow Leopard. In doing that, I did a clean install (as in I made a backup, and then wiped my HDD and then installed Snow Leopard) and Now, foolishly realised that iLife isn't a "App" but rather a $80 software purchase. So, I tried to copy + paste (yes yes, I'm a noob - but this is how I understood it would work) iPhoto (as its the App I wish to use, so I can view my iPhone photos on my Mac) and it's now mentioning I can't open this program as I don't have iLife 09'. So, short of repurchasing the software package. Is there any method for me to have the functionality of iLife again? I've tried to locate individual updates from the Apple support site, but the version I tried, 8.1.2 I believe. Was not needed, again due to iLife 09' not being installed. And I don't wish to sit through downloading numerous updates in the hope I may find the correct one.
Ok I did some updateing and now get a black screen after booting. Here is what I did WAS running 10.5.8 Updated to 10.6 using a USB Downloaded and installed 10.6.3 Combination update (everything worked great) Installed iLife 2011 Downloaded latest update for iLife because is said I could not use it unless i updated.
Restarted fine logged in, showed display background. Then all black. Rebooted, black screen. Reboooted again, Black screen.
The issue only came up when I did the software update for iPhoto, iMovie,iWeb,iEverything else..
I have a 3.06 intel core 2 duo with 4 gig ram and 500 gb free space. Backed up on time machine on seperate HDD still plugged in to USB. Since I don't have USB selected as a boot drive can I still boot from the install 10.6 USB?
Info: iMac 3.06GHz, 4GB, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 3.06GHz, 4GB
I performed a fresh install of OSX with my Snow Leopard upgrade disc, and now I'm missing iLife. I don't have a copy of the OSX version that came with my Macbook Pro. Is there a way for me to retreive iLife without having to shell out more cash? I would think I could request a copy of my original OS from Apple, as I've done in the past with other companies.
My hard drive died and was replaced a week or so a go. The technician in the iSpot store (the substitute for Apple Stores in Warsaw, Poland) installed Snow Leapord and apparently did not install iLife. After I restored using Migration Assistant from my Time Machine, the iLife programs and Mail would not load.
I took it back and the tech reinstalled reinstalled OS 10.6 and iLife'09. I restored again from Time Machine the the iLife programs then would load and work fine, but Mail is still bombing. Here is what it says in relevant part in the window that appears after clicking on Mail in the dock.
I have tried to reinstall iLife'09 and still get this message.
Does anyone have suggestions for what to do? How do I get it to find the "suitable image"?
So I bought Leopard family-pack and installed on 4 Macs (and de-installed one). All installs were "clean installs". And all yielded Leopard WITHOUT iLife products (iPhoto, iTunes, etc.).
Now people tell me that they also did "clean installs" and iLife was present afterwards.
The only difference I can judge is that I used a family pack whilst the others used a "single licence" pack.
