I upgraded to Flash Player 10 a few days ago, and since then both Safari and Firefox are crashing almost every time i visit a page with Flash. I have tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling a developer's copy of version 9 but the crashes continue.
I have read a lot of complaints about similar problems, but have not been able to find a solution or even an explanation as to why it's happening. So I don't know if it's a conflict with the latest version of Leopard (not Snow) or what.
how to upgrade the old version OS to the newest one? Should I pay to upgrade the OS X v10.5.8 to Snow Leopard and then pay again to upgrade to Lion? Can I directly upgrade the OS to Lion?
I re-ripped one of my CDs recently (for reasons of no importance), and I noticed that the audio improved. There was less distortion and I could notice more details (smoother sound). I tried this with a few more albums, and the result was the same each time: better sound. This confused me; how does ripping actually work? And what could be responsible for the sound difference? P.S. X Lossless Decoder also produces results different from iTunes.

My Firefox asked if I wanted to install updated system plug-ins. I closed the browser, drug the install to my Applications folder, and now there's a copy in there as well as a Firefox ejectable icon on my desktop. I don't know where to go from here.
Ok, my once a week auto Mac auto update just finished and now my itunes 10.6 will start then crash as soon as it opens. Error report as followsÂ
Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â iTunes [746] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â com.apple.iTunes
[Code]....
If you want the rest of the multi page thread I will paste it.
I have tried restarting the machine and no dice. I thought of reinstalling itunes from apples site but each time I go there its says congrats on downloading it but will not download a single thing. On the problems downloading its only gives me answers to PC problems. Â
Do I really have to completely reinstall from my iMac install discs just to get itunes back ? I dont use time machine as I have a 1T hardrive in my imac and use most of it for itunes, even I cant afford a 1T stand alone hard drive just for backups.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Just did the weekly auto update.
For some reason, when I go to listen to a band's music on MySpace, the player will load and play the music, but it won't show the song titles, and the little visualizer thing on the player all moves as one big blue block, rather than looking like a waveform. I downloaded the latest version of Flash, and I'm having this problem with both Firefox 3.5.5 and Safari 4.0.4.
Hey, I have a 3 GHz 8-core Mac Pro that is about 2 years old, and it seems to get the beachball and forcing a manual shutdown 2-3 times a day. Usually what happens is I am in Final Cut Pro (doesn't really matter WHAT I am doing in it), then I will get the spinning beach ball, can't quit it, 'force quit' menu says it is not responding, so I force quit it. That doesn't work, it's still active in the dock, and if I try to shut down from the menu, everything clears from the desktop like it's about to shut down, but it never does, so I have to shut it down manually. This isn't limited to FCP, it happens in Photoshop, Motion, Finder, Fetch, TM backups etc.
I'm on latest Leopard, Using FCP 7 (did it in 6 too), and I have put in a brand new harddrive and did a clean reinstall of the OS and software, worked fine for a bit, then hit the problem again. I have 9 gigs of RAM, 1 from Apple, 8 from Crucial and the ATI Radeon X1900 XT.
Just did update to Safari 5.0 via software update. G4 Dual 867 OSX 10.5.8. Crashes every time I attempt to click on any link. Starts to connect, Beachball-crash. If left idle, without clicking any link, still crashes after less than a minute. Fixed permissions, re-installed with download from Apple site, permissions again..... no difference. Disabled Click to Flash, Ad Blocker...same thing. Just won't work!!!
Ever since updating through software update iTunes to 10.6, it has become almost unusable. It crashes whenever my iPod Touch is connected. I have tried re-installing 10.6 from teh direct download and i have tried to downgrade to 10.5.3 but the system won't let me delete 10.6 as iTunes is now, apparently,a necessary part of the OS.
After Latest update (security update) that came out not so long ago, my safari experience has gone from good to bad. I have crash on me at least twice a day. Anyone else had this? I noticed that it usually happens when I try to compose email on Gmail, when I press compose and enter my friends email press enter to select contact, after that the wheel starts spinning and then you get "Safari quit unexpectedly"
Does anyone else have this issue? Also my startup times started to get slower.
The computer freezes or crashes fairly regularly - sometimes within minutes of being started. I have wiped the hard disk several times and done a clean reinstall of Lion. The computer still crashes - again within minutes of the Finder launching. However, it behaves itself when I boot it into Windows, or if I do a Safe Boot. This is starting to drive me nuts. Here's the latest kernel panic
I upgraded to 10.1.3 last week and have had nothing but problems. The program crashes continually for a variety of reasons, and while I can eventually get it up and running again, I can't isolate the causes of the crashes. I would like to "revert" to 10.1.2 or 10.1.1. How do I do this? ( I don't have the old program saved).
I have been using FCPX since it came out and FCP (the original) since it was introduced.
Info: Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), iMac 3.5 GHz Intel i7
Got the computer a couple days ago and firefox has been crashing a lot. I cleared the history and cache but it still crashes. I did a quick search and it seems like a lot of people are having this issue and there's no solution for it. I was doing something very important and this has been pissing me off. If I don't find a fix I'm going to return this POS as the only web browser I like is Firefox. It's rarely ever given me any problems on windows based computers.
I have Diablo 2, which is built for PPC macs, running through Rosetta. I expected it to be a little bit buggy but seriously it crashes every ten minutes. I figured maybe Rosetta just doesn't work that well until I got Neverwinter Nights 2 for intel mac and encountered the same problem.I have a new 13.3 in macbook pro with upgraded RAM and storage. I definitely meet specs to run these games. Are there any patches or anything that you can think of that I need to install before it will work smoothly?
I'm using Leopard 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro.Audio Midi Setup keeps crashing, I'm trying to use Motu midi fast lane, it will not recognize the unit, and anytime I try to click on anything or delete any midi devices in AMS midi, it crashes.I've tried deleting midi drivers, preferences, etc. there's no solutions out there I can find.
I've had my iMac, 27" 3.4 Ghz i7 16GB, since Jan 2012. From my excitement of having 2TB, I put all my info from every hard-drive ever owned on it, deleting the originals with the faith that I can trust it till I purchase a 2TB external for the backup.Â
Two months later it crashed showing the 'grey screen of death' and got stuck with every restart on the welcome-screen (grey apple logo with the circuling loading graphic underneath) only with a new loading bar in below them. The service center claimed the HD crashed, and replaced it (and it took me more than a month going around finding a place that would recover the data before they could replace the HD)Â
I finally receive it after a long period of living on this earth without a computer (which is problematic for a freelancing graphic designer) and 4 days later crashes again the same exact way, this time the service center claimed it was a software problem but got it fixed.Â
I've received it yesterday again and I only downloaded trusted software (VLC, DIVx...) and did not dare transfer any old data and stuck to only surfing the net catch up to what life I've been missing out on. It is still crashing but restarting fixing it.Â
The only thing common with all 11 'crashings' is safari was open, and I really doubt and do hope that it's not the problem.
I have a Late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro. I love it, it's great. I upgraded to a 500gb HD and 4GB of RAM.Since I purchased it, Flash videos (Vimeo, YouTube, etc..) are jerkey in both Safari (3.0 and 4.0) and in Firefox (3.0 and 3.5). I've tried updating my Flash player, and just nothing seems to work. The audio plays fine, but the video stutters almost every few seconds. My video settings are on "Best Performance".
Every time I open Safari (5.0.6) on Mac OS X (Version 10.5.8) it crashes. It crashes 30 seconds after I open the application. So I open Safari, I see my homepage than roughly around 30 seconds later it crashes. I have already uninstall every third plug-ins such as adobe flash player, but still the same.
i have a G4, serial number qt21106cl3v. i just installed os x 10.2.3. i cant get on fb or any site that uses flash. it says for me to download shockwave. ive tried and it wont install. i tried to download a new browser, like firefox, or another version of safari and i have no luck.
i cant decide whether its a virus or what. i just got the computer from a yard sale and its in excellent condition. i had to reinstall os x though cuz it had no os. any ideas?? you can find additional info by searching for specs through the serial. i have no prior knowledge of macs and am trying to learn quickly.
also, as in the heading, safari keeps crashing when i try to download any kind of new browser, and the auto updates arent working either.
So Ive been using macs for years, Ive also been watching flash videos on my macs for years, and up until about 4 months ago they very rarely crashed on me. It seems that recently something has changed, I dont know if its flash, or safari, or something else but my flash videos (especially in hulu) crash very often. In fact it seems that more often than not they crash now. Im not really upset about it because Hulu does not crash and I just switched my youtube settings to stream everything with HTML5 which seems to work...
But im wondering why this is happening, and why now? It (flash) worked so well for years, and on older machines like my old eMac... And now when apple is so visibly anti-flash my mbp is experiencing these crashes all the time... keep in mind my windows 7 machine is not having these same videos crashing... so whats the deal? Is apple messing with stuff in their latest builds of safari and or Snow Leopard to make flash less stable so users choose to break away from it? Or is this just a random bizarre problem that only I am experiencing? What are you guys seeing?
I have just started to notice something really weird. When ever I go onto a page that contains Flash any web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) crashes on my mac. Do I need to re-install the latest version of Flash? I have the most upto date of everything (OSX, Safari, Flash) etc.
The only way I could get onto Macrumors was to install ClikcToFlash.
I have a new 13" macbook pro. I updated to the new flash and now every time I go to a page that contains flash, my browser crashes. I've tried on safari, firefox and I'm currently on Chrome. I have no idea what to do. Everything else works fine it's just when I go on a site containing flash it crashes. I wanted to watch a stream from ustream and every time I went on the site it crashed. I've never been on that site, but I'm guessing they use flash. So, I downloaded the latest flash and now it's even worst. What do I do? The program actually freezes, but I can't do anything so I have to force quit it. Except Chrome I only need to exit the tab, I think.
