Applications :: Flash Player 10 Constantly Crashing Safari?
Sep 15, 2009
I upgraded to Flash Player 10 a few days ago, and since then both Safari and Firefox are crashing almost every time i visit a page with Flash. I have tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling a developer's copy of version 9 but the crashes continue.
I have read a lot of complaints about similar problems, but have not been able to find a solution or even an explanation as to why it's happening. So I don't know if it's a conflict with the latest version of Leopard (not Snow) or what.
Google Earth plugin in Safari started to keep crashing after I installed Adobe Flash Player 11.2. The plugin works fine in other browsers (Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome). The same occurs at home, too.I use Mac Pro at work and iMac at home. Both are on OSX10.7.3, Lion.
After Latest update (security update) that came out not so long ago, my safari experience has gone from good to bad. I have crash on me at least twice a day. Anyone else had this? I noticed that it usually happens when I try to compose email on Gmail, when I press compose and enter my friends email press enter to select contact, after that the wheel starts spinning and then you get "Safari quit unexpectedly"
Does anyone else have this issue? Also my startup times started to get slower.
I'm having a terrible problem with my adobe flash player always crashing. It just started doing it, when I go to youtube, or anytime I try to watch a video. I have the latest version of adobe, and I checked my settings, everything sees to be okay. I'm using a pro mac osx, 64bit Intel.
I have had a lot of issues with Adobe Flash Player causing grief in Safari, and now it is causing it to crash. I am on a clean installation of OS X (just formatted and reinstalled yesterday).
I should point out that I use Adobe CS4 and have Flash CS4 installed. Maybe that is causing a conflict?
Good morning, I recently updated my software via Software Update yesterday, and I noticed that I can no longer play Flash videos in Safari. I just get the generic lego block and it says that Flash unexpectedly quit. I'm running the most recent Safai and Snow Leopard, and have included a screenshot of the updates that I ran yesterday. I also tried to run Camino and FireFox, but they just quit when I get to a Flash video. I also tried to install the most recent Flash player, and also the newer beta Flash player, but none seem to work. Anybody know of any fixes? Do I have to reinstall Snow Leopard?
Ever since YouTube has updated their video page, I keep on getting these "Old Flash - Go Upgrade!" error messages. I have re-installed Flash twice and I'm still getting the problem... however, just refreshing the page seems to work - but is getting very annoying.
I'm using Safari 4, anyone else having this problem?
since i have updated to flash 10.1 my mid-2010-mbp i7, in safari (version 5) scrolling is very laggy, when on a page with flash contents. especially when on intel gpu (i use gfxcardstatus). on nvidia its a bit better, but it still sucks.
furthermore, if i do a right-click on any flash content and go to settings, it totally freaks out and switches gpu every second, and the only thing i can do is force quit safari. this doesnt happen, when i'm initially on nvidia-gpu.
Yesterday, a web site that I use frequently suggested that I upgrade my Flash Player and gave me a link to do so. Ever since I downloaded and installed the new version, any time the Flash starts to load, the browser crashes.
I downloaded the Uninstall for Flash, unintalled it, restarted from my Install Disc and repaired the permissions as suggested. Then I restarted, installed the new version of Flash Player (with all browsers off!) but as soon as I accessed a web site and needed to use Flash, the browser crashed (both Safari and Firefox). Is there a solution or am I just out of luck now?
Suddenly today whenever I try to play a youtube video on Chrome or Safari (the only browsers I have installed) I get the message "The following plug-in has crashed: shockwave flash" in Chrome and "plug-in failed" on Safari.
At first I thought it was Chrome so I reinstalled Chrome, tried disabling the chrome native flash plugin in about:plugins (then the other one) but no joy, then I realised it was happening on Safari too.
So I downloaded the Flash uninstaller for mac and uninstalled > reinstalled and still no joy.
I'm running the latest version of both browsers, latest lion updates and flash version on a Macbook Pro (Dec '11)
Just did update to Safari 5.0 via software update. G4 Dual 867 OSX 10.5.8. Crashes every time I attempt to click on any link. Starts to connect, Beachball-crash. If left idle, without clicking any link, still crashes after less than a minute. Fixed permissions, re-installed with download from Apple site, permissions again..... no difference. Disabled Click to Flash, Ad Blocker...same thing. Just won't work!!!
I have Diablo 2, which is built for PPC macs, running through Rosetta. I expected it to be a little bit buggy but seriously it crashes every ten minutes. I figured maybe Rosetta just doesn't work that well until I got Neverwinter Nights 2 for intel mac and encountered the same problem.I have a new 13.3 in macbook pro with upgraded RAM and storage. I definitely meet specs to run these games. Are there any patches or anything that you can think of that I need to install before it will work smoothly?
After weeks of trying to download Flash player to Safari, I removed the program using AppZapper and downloaded a new Safari which behaved beautifully. What puzzles me is that when I opened this new Safari, it contained all my favorites and Bookmark bar bookmarks. Is there a ghost in the system or did AppZapper miss something?
Safari 5.1 on Lion. Keeps saying blocking flash. Wants me to download. Already tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting, clearing the cache. Driving me nuts? Don't remember seeing this before the safari update?
I have an issue I have been seeing since upgrading to Lion (10.7.3) and the latest version of Safari (5.1.3, I believe?). When browsing the web for a while (particularly, Flash heavy sites, I have noticed my computer's temperature getting hot and more beach balling starting to occur. The first time this happened, I opened Activity Monitor and noticed that Flash Player was using, almost, 900 MB of RAM (and I had less than 100 MB available). Other than Safari, I only had a couple of other applications open, neither of which were memory intensive. Quitting Safari gave me back a huge amount of memory, my temperatures, quickly, dropped back down to reasonable levels, and the performance lag went away. I never saw this kind of memory hogging under Snow Leopard. Is Flash Player this much of a nuisance under, either, Firefox or Chrome?
I have a 2010 MacBook Pro, 2.53 GHz, i5 with 4 GB of RAM.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I was given older I-Mac with software installed that worked for most surfing. What can you do to get your newer system back if older version from disks was installed and Apple won't let update your Mac now older system in on the computer?
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.3.x), Had newer system how 2 get it back
Adobe Flash installer completes successfully, but web sites requiring Flash still say that I need to install Flash. None of the relevant files are present, and the Adobe diagnostic page shows only empty boxes where the Flash version should be listed. This problem occurs with Safari 5.1.4 and 5.1.5 running on Mac OS 10.6.8?
I am running Safari 5.1.5 on Lion 10.7.3. For about a year now, I have been having trouble running Adobe Flash Player to view videos. I can verify that I have Flash Player 11.2.202.235 installed, but on some (not all) website, most notably [URL] I just get a button to "Get Adobe Flash Player" even though I already have it. Flash-based ads work fine, it's really just for videos. I end up having to watch the non-working videos on Chrome where they work fine.
I need to install updated Flash player when I click on the 'install' button for Flash player - nothing happens. I have tried to 'uninstall' and again nothing happens. Running 10.7.4 and have Safari plug-ins enabled.
I have a macbook pro retina, mid 2013. I can use “flash player” in “chrome” but not in “safari” I've gone to the “adobe” site where it said if “adobe” is installed on your computer "x" will be displayed in this box or if it's not installed "x" will be displayed, in both instances the box was blank. I'm extremely frustrated, I'd like to “safari” but would also like to use “adobe flash player”.
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
I installed adobe flash player 9.0 extension for safari on my Mac OS X Lion system. The installation went well. But the web page that needs it complains that the extension is being blocked by my browser. I can't figure out why this is happeneing. I'm not intentionally blocking any extensions to Safari.
I just installed Adobe CS4 which includes Flash Player 10. Since then, my QucikTime does not pop up and open stream audio file automatically. Instead, the Flash Player opens the file within the safari 4. Is there any way that I can make QuickTime Player become the default player for this type of file?
About a week ago, we accidentally installed what we think is a bad version of a flash player when attempting to register a rewards card. We un-installed the software as soon as we realized it was not the correct website for the rewards card. Since then, we are getting a flashing pop-up ad in the right column of the browser as well as a video window that pops-up from left bottom of browser and then multiple windows in Safari will just open.
