I can't burn a disk, any disk. Toast was working fine but now won't launch. I reinstalled it twice, threw out the preferences, tried launching it from different users (including Administrator), repaired disk permissions, ran Disk Warrior to rebuild directories... Toast still won't launch. So, I turned to the Disk Utility to try and burn a disk, the "Burn" button is always greyed-out. Serious Voodoo, I can't burn a thing even if I were a fire bug.

I need to burn a goodly number of files on OS X using a Blu-ray writer. Unfortunately when I write a large number of files with Toast Titanium the app crashes consistently. Are there really any other options for such software aside from Toast for OS X when it comes to Blu-ray?

Safari 5.1.4 update downloaded into Lion 10.7.3 on a Mac mini earlier today. Won't launch. Creates a report saying it is 5.1.2."Reopen" just repeats a report (many sent from different accounts!)As far as I can see other apps still work including Adobe CS4 and Firefox.Cannot enter safe mode to try it there by using shift on reboot as suggested for Lion.Not sure what extensions I have for Safari but very few. This week I upgraded my Macbook Pro 13 (2011) from Snow Leopard to Mavericks 10.9.2. Initially I had problems with email crashing and Preview not launching. I then found the upgrade to 10.9.4 and installed that. This cured the email issue but I still cannot launch Preview.

I tried resetting SMC/VPRAM, re-installing Mavericks, deleting the plist.
I'm on a mid-2009 iMac. I should add...when I put the DVD in the slot...there's a click or two...then it spits it out again - except for the few times I've managed to load it using the Recovery Startup disk.

The plist file is well launched as a Daemon as machine start up. It starts a shell script which is suppose to change one route in the Mac routing table.
The syslog trace mention that the shell script is well started, but when I check the route, it kept the default route.
I suppose the problem is due to the fact that the network interface is not up when the script is started at the first time
If I modify the plist file and get ride of the LaunchOnlyOne key the new route is affected, but the script keep running for ever every minutes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor reasons which escape me, since I rebooted yesterday, I have been unable to launch TextEdit, Preview or Pages - they just say not responding when their icon is ctrl-clicked in the Dock. I just checked Numbers and Keynote, which I have never used and after their initial welcome screen, they too became unresponsive. As far as I can tell, GarageBand, iPhoto and probably others in iLife are unaffected, neither are Mail and Safari.
I found that a similar problem was being experienced a few years ago by some people using TextEdit and Preview and it was solved by re-signing the application in Terminal. I have tried that but it hasn't worked. I have repaired permissions and I'm just downloading the Mavericks installer so that I can make a USB installer and re-install OS X 10.9.3.
I am downloading which may save me the trouble of re-installing OS X 10.9.3, I'd be very grateful.

Trashed photo booth preferences pfile, fixed permissions in disk utilities, still no launch. For the last week or so I've been having an increasingly regular problem with Mail. Upon launching, the app opens a dialog window saying, "Mail can't connect to the Google account 'Gmail'. Enter the password for user (username)." Then when I enter the password, the app crashes. Sometimes clicking the "Cancel" botton allows the app to open, but sometimes that results in a crash as well. Also, when I can launch Mail successfully, sometimes when I try to send mail, the outgoing mail will sit in the Outbox unsent.
I've been getting these warnings with both my Yahoo and Gmail accounts. Until a few days ago I was using Yahoo as my primary account, but the inability to send mail caused me to switch to Gmail as my primary. After a couple days of smooth sailing, I'm now getting the same errors with my Gmail.
This summer I updated to Mavericks and now i cannot get pages to update. I can not use the program. I have gone to purchases and all I get is an error when i try to update pages, numbers and keynote. What can i do?

Ever since i upgraded my OS to Mavericks, my Mac cannot find my iomega Harddrive (Wireless).
When i'm searching for the device, i can hear the iomega hard drive thinking, but not nothing happens.
A friend was downloading the mavericks update and his MBP went to sleep in the middle of it. Needless to say it now boots up in recovery mode.
I can access his Hard disk with my MBP and thunderbolt in target disk mode. with mine in target disk mode I can startup his computer with my ssd and access his drive through disk drill pro 2. it says i can rebuild his hard drive using the software but I dont know if it will format his drive. he wants pics and music off of it.

I've been trying for weeks to update my MacBook Pro to either OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 or 10.9.3 but it isn't working. When I open Software Update, it tells me that I have an update available (OS X Update Combined 10.9.3), but when I click Update and agree to restarting, it says "An error has occurred. The file couldn't be saved because you don't have permission.(513)" Additionally, the update is listed under Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days. However, when I click on About This Mac, it says that I am running 10.9.1.
I tried downloading the update from the Apple Website (OSXUpdCombo10.9.3.dmg) and after installing/restarting, when I login and click About This Mac, it still says 10.9.1.

Updated a 2008 15" MacBook Pro to Mavericks, then Apple store updated incrementally. Superdrive now ejects any disc put into it, external Plextor combo drive fails to recognize already burned media. Have reset NVRAM and SMC several times, done a re-install of 10.9.4 and tried several preferences related suggestions from web searches. Bluetooth on/off, etc. Plextor drive can be mounted by Parallels VMs (Linux Mint 14.17 and Ubuntu) and writes if owned by VM.
This issue started intermittently from Mavericks 10.9.2 and is now total at 10.9.4. Media disc's do not start iTunes post install and in case of external drive are not recognized as written media.

I was running on Mac 10.6.8 and I wanted to update to Mac 10.9, which I did. I am not discovering that there have been some issued with Apache2 and my localhost. I don't know what is wrong, but I got it working once again.
Now I am having a rather large issue with MySQL. That issue being that it's no longer on my computer. mysql is no longer a bash command, and it's not in my /var/lib/ directory, not is it anywhere else I looked. I had a few databases set up, and I don't know if they were deleted somehow or what. I can't connect via Sequel Pro either. Must I completely reinstall MySQL for it to work again, or is some stuff still recoverable?
