Jun 29, 2014Before Mavericks, I used to be able to send any files or pictures or videos on imessage from my laptop to someone's phone who also had imessage. Ever since I've got Mavericks, I am no longer able to send any files. I try to send a file but then imessage just freezes, and it doesn't respond at all. I have to force quit and restart imessage..

I have tried everything, even unregistered my phone yesterday and switched iMessage back on today only to find the problem still exists. It is a great new feature of Yosemite but if it doesn't work then it's pointless and I will have to turn off iMessage permanentely

Apr 13, 2009I was mucking around, downloading Stationary Pack, etc., then removed to trash, then decided to retrieve it all out of trash again.. and somehow in the process, my mail will no longer SEND. I can receive mail, but cannot send mail.. the send button remains dim and will not "click" to send anything. I don't know if I inadvertently trashed some major mail execution file or what? I have all my stationary back the way it was, but my mail application (the sending part of it) no longer works. I'm not getting any error messages, it's not a server problem..I think I trashed something important.. a major function.

If i quit out of it it will say "Are you sure you want to quit? Some chats have messages you haven’t read." When the message has be received by the person receiving the message and has replied back.

Sep 11, 2014My iPhone 5c is receiving the same messages that I've already read on my Macbook Pro and I would like to stop connecting my phone number to the computer. Is there a way to fix this? I am using IOS 1.7.2 if this problem has anything to do with my phone and that has any relevance.
Edit: I would not like to turn iMessage off on my phone, as I use it because a lot of the area I live in does not have service while we have wifi.

Feb 23, 2010Whenever I start up my macbook it stayed on grey background with an apple logo and spinning thing. I press and hold the shift key once and it went to safe mode and did my diagnostic and found out that some file got corrupted so I thought maybe I'll just do another start up and everything will go back to normal. Then I restart it again but this time it wont past that grey back ground w/ apple logo w/ spinning thing again. I tried to do the safe mode again and it won't let me anymore. I went to apple site and i found a bunch of keyboard shortcuts, non of those help me. Any here have any idea what might happen to my MacBook. I'm in Kazahstan for work related trip and they don't use Mac here so there is no where I can buy another snowleaopard cd.

Sep 17, 2009For some blasted reason the send button on Mail keeps getting greyed out. I try resetting from time machine backups. It will work for a few messages then become greyed out again.
When I used the Connection Doctor everything checks out as fine. My SMTP information is correct. As it has always worked in the past, works in Outlook, works in Entourage and cross checks as correct by multiple online sources and the ISP's customer service.
I have also repaired permissions.
Why would this button ever be designed to grey out in the first place? An error message after clicking would be better then a button that give no information at all.
Unfortunately this is a customers computer so I can't just swing by to check some more. The above listed steps are ones I went through before performing a time machine restore. Which worked for a while then the same problem occurred. Another Time Machine restore fixed it. Now the customer is having the same problem so I am trying to find another solution.

Jun 5, 2010I do not get any errors that I can't send, Connection doc. indicates all connections are good. Emails just sit in the draft box. Also, when typing, my space bar forwards me to the bottom of the email field in Mac Mail, or the bottom of the web page in Safari. Additionally, the cursor doesn't move when using the space bar, but the space is there. When I start typing after this, sometimes my typing is backwards, it actually starts typing right to left, this also happens in Safari, but not always. The delete key sometimes highlights the text, and then, in Safari only, the program quits. I had issues long ago with the version of MS office (2003) and OSX 10.3, but I don't remember what resolved this, I think it had something to do with a plist. This only happens to my main log in. Other log ins seem to be fine.

Jun 28, 2014I recently updated to OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 and have found I cannot log into iMessages. When I entered my Apple ID and password, the "spinner" spins and spins and I am never logged in. When I bypassed the iMessage welcome screen and tried log in via iMessage preferences, it gives me an error message. The header is, "Could not sign into iMessage." The message is, "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." My network connection is fine as I can use iMessage on my iPhone on the same WiFi network.

Sep 9, 2014Like the title says, my iMessage and FaceTime is not working. I can't log in to either one of them on my MacBook Pro (OS X Mavericks 10.9.4).
I keep getting the message that it can't get configured at the moment but iMessage and FaceTime is activated on both my iPhone 5S and my iPad 2 and works like a charm there. So is should not be anything wrong with the account, is seems to be something blocking the log in on my admin user though. If i choose the "Guest Log in" everything works, here I can activate my iMessage account.
I read somewhere that it could be some program blocking iMessage / effecting iMessage / (The thread said FlashPlayer) so I have deleted all the local savings from Safari, settings and saved choices related to FlashPlayer.

Sep 2, 2014I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and now the iMessage notifications that I get on my Macbook Pro are different, and I'm not sure how (or if I can) change them back to before. It used to be that when I got an iMessage and was using my laptop, the Messages application would bounce on the dock and show a "1" or however many new messages I had.
Now, with Mavericks, it doesn't bounce on the dock or show the number of new messages. It will only play the sound or display a banner if I want it to. Is there any way to get a number to show with the new messages I have, or can it not do that anymore with Mavericks??

OS X Mavericks :: IMessage Shows Not Delivered To Others
Jun 4, 2014Both on my iPhone and my Mac, I have Messages configured to receive at both my phone number and my Apple ID. In both cases, I've set up the phone number to be the caller ID. Up to a few months ago, this worked. Now, however, the Mac only receives a random subset of messages sent to me. And whenever somebody tries to send me an iMessage they get "Not Delivered" — even when those messages have been delivered to my iPhone. This happens even when my Mac is switched off completely. (This makes iMessage somewhat useless, because the person sending me the message never knows whether I've received it or not.)
I can “solve” the problem by removing the phone number from Messages' configuration on my Mac. Re-adding it makes the problem return, though. I've also tried disabling and re-enabling iMessage completely on my Mac, but to no avail. I'd really like to be able to use Messages on my Mac transparently to answer iMessages sent to my phone number.

OS X Mavericks :: Restore IMessage Chats On Mac?
Jun 3, 2014I recently restored my 2012 Macbook Pro to factory default settings after using Time Machine to make one final backup. Satisfied with my newly erased laptop, I opened iMessage only to see a similarly empty application. I wasn't surprised, afterall, since I did reset my Macbook. I did not manually copy over anything iMessage so a little part of me began to panic.
I tried overwriting the ~/Library/Messages folder with the one I had in my backups, but it did not work. I have logged in/out of iCloud and restarted the computer--still nothing. I made a side-by-side comparison of the Messages folder and noticed that my backup did not contain any chat.db. I have two backups stored on my external drive, and neither folders had anything but Plugins.
This is where I become fully distressed, since the chats I had saved on my iMessage were very important. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Would restoring my Macbook using a complete backup do anything? Should I have manually copied over the Messages folder before I wiped everything clean?
