I recently updated to OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 and have found I cannot log into iMessages. When I entered my Apple ID and password, the "spinner" spins and spins and I am never logged in. When I bypassed the iMessage welcome screen and tried log in via iMessage preferences, it gives me an error message. The header is, "Could not sign into iMessage." The message is, "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." My network connection is fine as I can use iMessage on my iPhone on the same WiFi network.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLike the title says, my iMessage and FaceTime is not working. I can't log in to either one of them on my MacBook Pro (OS X Mavericks 10.9.4).
I keep getting the message that it can't get configured at the moment but iMessage and FaceTime is activated on both my iPhone 5S and my iPad 2 and works like a charm there. So is should not be anything wrong with the account, is seems to be something blocking the log in on my admin user though. If i choose the "Guest Log in" everything works, here I can activate my iMessage account.
I read somewhere that it could be some program blocking iMessage / effecting iMessage / (The thread said FlashPlayer) so I have deleted all the local savings from Safari, settings and saved choices related to FlashPlayer.

I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and now the iMessage notifications that I get on my Macbook Pro are different, and I'm not sure how (or if I can) change them back to before. It used to be that when I got an iMessage and was using my laptop, the Messages application would bounce on the dock and show a "1" or however many new messages I had.
Now, with Mavericks, it doesn't bounce on the dock or show the number of new messages. It will only play the sound or display a banner if I want it to. Is there any way to get a number to show with the new messages I have, or can it not do that anymore with Mavericks??
I've tried it all! I've read through all the tricks and deleted the folders. I just updated my software to 10.9.3! I get the "this number is not registered with iMessage" for all of my contacts

Both on my iPhone and my Mac, I have Messages configured to receive at both my phone number and my Apple ID. In both cases, I've set up the phone number to be the caller ID. Up to a few months ago, this worked. Now, however, the Mac only receives a random subset of messages sent to me. And whenever somebody tries to send me an iMessage they get "Not Delivered" — even when those messages have been delivered to my iPhone. This happens even when my Mac is switched off completely. (This makes iMessage somewhat useless, because the person sending me the message never knows whether I've received it or not.)
I can “solve” the problem by removing the phone number from Messages' configuration on my Mac. Re-adding it makes the problem return, though. I've also tried disabling and re-enabling iMessage completely on my Mac, but to no avail. I'd really like to be able to use Messages on my Mac transparently to answer iMessages sent to my phone number.

I recently restored my 2012 Macbook Pro to factory default settings after using Time Machine to make one final backup. Satisfied with my newly erased laptop, I opened iMessage only to see a similarly empty application. I wasn't surprised, afterall, since I did reset my Macbook. I did not manually copy over anything iMessage so a little part of me began to panic.
I tried overwriting the ~/Library/Messages folder with the one I had in my backups, but it did not work. I have logged in/out of iCloud and restarted the computer--still nothing. I made a side-by-side comparison of the Messages folder and noticed that my backup did not contain any chat.db. I have two backups stored on my external drive, and neither folders had anything but Plugins.
This is where I become fully distressed, since the chats I had saved on my iMessage were very important. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Would restoring my Macbook using a complete backup do anything? Should I have manually copied over the Messages folder before I wiped everything clean?

For some reason when I click on create new contact in iMessage nothing happens? I am not sure why?
Also when I try to create a contact from an existing conversation I also can't do that either.

Cannot log into imessage. it was working fine before, and i had turned on my mac. when i logged in, imessage told me to log in, in which i did with my Apple ID password. However, i keep getting a message saying that i cannot log in at the moment, but I know that there is nothing wrong with my network connection. I've tried a couple times more, but i keep getting the same message.

When I first got my mac I had and iPhone 4s and iMessage was connected from my mac to my phone no problem. I recently got an iPhone 5s and now my iMessage on my mac doesn't show my messages sent from my phone nor does my phone show messages sent from my mac. How can I reconnect them so my messages will show up again?

I purchased a new / used MBA with os 10.9.2. I was trying to set up messages / iMessage.
The first screen asks for my apple id and password. The second screen says I can be reached at my apple id then below it has two two buttons "Go Back" and "Done". When I click the done button it says I need to enter my email address, but there is no place to enter it.
I consider myself as having a decent knowledge of Mac products and their workings, but this has got me completely stuck. I have two mac machines (MBP and MacMini), an iPhone and an iPad. iMessage was working fine on all devices up to a couple of weeks ago. On the MacMini, all of a sudden iMessage stopped receiving and sending messages, and displaying the recipient's name in red, instead of the usual blue (clicking on the name, it says the user isn't registered with iMessage, and it says that for all users). It still works fine on all of the other three devices.
I have tried everything that I've found on the forums - resetting the iCloud password, the keychain, the pram, deleting various files from the user library folder. Logging out on other devices, even a clean installation of 10.9.3 (which is also on the other, working machine). There is no firewall, and another exact same model MacMini that my colleague uses over the same connection works absolutely fine!
It seems that the problem is almost tied in directly to my specific machine - is this possible? as I've already spent far too long trying to fix this.
iMessage is set to offline mode.
When I got to Messages > My Status the box is greyed out. None of the options are available to me.

When I try to log into iMessage from my Macbook Pro (OS X Mavericks Version 10.9.4) the loading symbol appears for as long as I leave it and never actually logs in. I have read every solution to this and tried everything, from deleting the .plist, to turning on firewall and adding iMessage and IMAgent, to changing my apple ID, resetting JAVA, forcing quit IMAgent on Activity Monitor. Nothing has worked, still the same problem every time. I have tried to delete iMessage and see if I can reinstall it somehow but it won't let me do that either.

Before Mavericks, I used to be able to send any files or pictures or videos on imessage from my laptop to someone's phone who also had imessage. Ever since I've got Mavericks, I am no longer able to send any files. I try to send a file but then imessage just freezes, and it doesn't respond at all. I have to force quit and restart imessage..

Whenever i try to use speech marks or apostrophes either side of a word of phrase they appear on the bottom or at least one of them does. "This" is how they should appear but ...
Why this is and/or how i can stop this?
I use iMessage on my iMac, iPhone and iPad. I am signed into iMessage using the same Apple ID on all three devices. I also have the same phone numbers and email addresses activated within iMessage on each device.
When I send or receive messages, iMessage syncs the messages among the three devices. All good so far. But if I delete a conversation on one device, the deletion does not sync to the other two devices. So I have to manually delete the conversation from the other two devices. How to sync conversations within iMessage across devices?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf a friend calls me, it just has the preview window up and nothing else happens -- on their side, it says the call failed.
If I try to start the videochat, it pops up with an error. This is only a recent issue.
I have all of my updates done on my laptop, as well.
My iMessage recently stopped working. When I attempt to log back in it tells me "your apple ID (email address) cannot be used to set up imessage at this time" then gives me a code to share with Apple support. (See screen shot).

I just got my Macbook Air back from apple repair. I went to go facetime one of my friends and it told me to log into my Apple ID. I logged in with my info and chose my contact info (the number and email I use) and clicked next. As I waited for it to load, it did but went back to the screen where it has me log into facetime.
Also the same thing with iMessage where it will not activate my account. I have had no problems with iMessage and Facetime before on my Macbook till now.
