Is it possible to transfer a Mac App Store game between computers while saving the game data?
I searched my Finder but the only think that shows is the app itself - but the file size is the same as when it was first downloaded so I was assuming the game data must be somewhere else.

I'm putting in an SSD in my MBP and am planning to reinstall from scratch, the old harddrive will be put into an external enclosure that I will be able to access. Moving iTunes seems to be a simple matter of de-authorize computer and copy files over, am I right here? Documents are also simply drag and drop, but what about email? Is "Archive Mailbox" what I'm looking for? Is there anything else I need to consider (grabbing my bookmarks, but not any keychains).
I would like to transfer all my data from a Windows 7 PC to a Mac and I’m told this will open a second account on the Mac.
The existing account (on the Mac) is in my name and I don’t want another account of the same name (even with the usual 1 or 2 added).
Is there a way to completely delete the existing Mac account before I begin the transfer? And will this solve the problem?

I have 2 versions of OS X running on my mid-2012 MacBook pro. They're on separate partitions. I want to put everything into Mavericks and just use Mavericks exclusively.
Can I simply open the 'disk' (which contains the partition with the other OS X installed on it) in Finder, locate what data I want to copy and put it straight back in to the Mavericks partition (copy and paste) or do I have to put it on a removable hard drive while booted in to the other partition and do it that way?
Ideally I want to get rid of the other partition with the other version of OS X on it. Can I safely destroy that and re-allocate that 100GB back in to my Mavericks partition without any issues or will it have an effect e.g. loss of data/settings even though all my data and applications with the exception of anything I created while using the other version of OS X on the other partition... which I understand would be lost if I formatted the disk or deleted the partition without saving a copy of that elsewhere first.

I have a time machine backup on an old firewire drive. My new laptop does not have a firewire port so I was wondering if I can just copy the time machine files onto a new thunderbolt drive and use it to migrate data to my new computer.

a friend showed me this game a couple days ago called curveball. since first playing i have become extremely addicted. on my windows laptop, I used to save flash games and movies that ireally liked to my computer by accessing them in my temporary files folder and by copying them to another location. i have tried to do a similar thing using safari and IE, but i can't figure out how to do it...

When i restarted the laptop I went to the purchases section of the app store to resume the download. The only option there now though is to install. If i click it the button dims for a few seconds then is bold again. Not setup sequence starts. Is there a way of restarting the download?

It can't run Snow Leopard or Lion, so this one issue is holding me back from the iCloud transition - I would have to replace that computer to do so, which seems ridicluous. I have searched, googled, etc., and not found a satisfactory answer. Briefly, I have used my ITunes on our MBP and on an old Dell PC. At various times I have downloaded music, TV shows, movies etc to either system. Our AppleTV syncs with the Dell and purchased stuff is on there. I just bought a new 27" IMac and a qnap NAS. I want all the media to be on the NAS. How do I go about "merging" the ITunes data from the two computers into a single file on the NAS drive? Is there a way to do so - without losing stuff or without having to individually go through every single song, show, movie, etc.?

I just got a new macbook 13 inch unibody with the base stats. Anyways, i chose to snag the iPod touch 16 gig since my 8 gig is already full. Is it possible for me to put all the songs from my old iPod 8 gig touch onto my macbook then into my new iPod 16 gig touch? None of the songs were purchased on iTunes, I got them other ways... Also what about the applications I have on my old 8 gig, I have wolfenstein 3d, Bloons, and a few others that I paid for and would like to have on my new iPod without buying again. new to this board if a mod could put it in the right place for me edit: Nevermind, I allowed my new mac to be one of the authorized computers and I'm able to transfer my Applications with the songs now.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I just successfully migrated all of my data and settings from my old iMac to my new 27 inch iMac using the Time machine backup on my Western Digital 1 TB external hard drive. Aside from the Time machine backup folder I also dragged a few other things over to the external hard drive because there was so much extra space on it. The drive is not partitioned.
So I'd like to start using Time machine with this new 27 inch iMac but the empty space that's left on the external hard drive is barely large enough to cover what I now have on the internal hard drive on my new 27 inch iMac. If I were to remove the Time machine backup from my old iMac there would be plenty of space again unless starting Time Machine on this new 27 inch iMac will just copy right over that backup file? Everything on this new iMac, the data and settings and so forth, is exactly the same. So is the user account. However the previous Mac was running Leopard while this new iMac is running Snow Leopard.
So if it doesn't copy over the old backup it will just create a new backup file? And if it does create a new backup file is there any point to keeping the old backup file since I no longer have the old iMac and wouldn't be able to access it again? Obviously if I didn't have to keep it I could erase it which would create plenty of extra space for me to start using Time machine again but with this new iMac.
I recently lost access to my Seagate eSATA HD after my Mac froze up and I had to do a hard shut down of both the Mac and my eSATA drive. When plugged in, OSX says I must initialize the disk before use (Windows says the same thing, but uses the word "format"). I figured out the drive is now in RAW format. I found a nifty little program called Recover My Files, (which cost a cool $69.95, far less than professional data recovery services) and ran a scan on my drive. It found what appears to be all of my files, but it doesn't look quite like what it did on the drive. Several top level directories are gone, and their content folders and files just spread out in the list.
All of this is OK by me, but when I try to save the files to another location, the software says my selected files take up 2.43 TB of space to save! The eSATA drive itself was only a 500 GB hard drive, so I don't know how it could find 2.43 TB to save. And I had only used around 350 GB of space on the drive. I did go through and found it had several duplicates for many of the files, that looked like maybe older versions or temp versions (with a ~ in font of the file name). I'm not sure how all these files could fit on that drive, but maybe I am misunderstanding something. Anyhow, I want just to save the correct files. A) I don't have space for all that stuff, my max to copy to is 500 GB (minus used space), and B) I don't want to have to sort through all of those files to get the one's I need (assuming there are tons of dupes in there).
I just installed a new SSD. Time Machine is active. It says it is saving data. When you open TM, it opens the times that it saved data except there is noting in the boxes and the button to choose a backup to restore is greyed out, not allowing to choose anything as there isn't anything to choose. The TM says that it has backed upped 350 gb of data. There is nothing there however. I rebooted, disconnected external drive, even reformatted and started over. Nothing seems to work.
