Aug 31, 2014A couple of years ago I loaded all my music onto a Macbook Pro and used iTunes to load it to my iPhone. Now my computer has been stolen and so I have bought a new one with Mavericks. No matter what I do iTunes won't import and play my wma files. What do I have to do to get iTunes to recognise these files.

Aug 31, 2014I purchased the $5.95 version of Flip4Mac in order to be able to play .WMV files on my MacbookPro (Mavericks). However, every time I open any .WMV file, I get this error message: THE APPLICATION ATTEMPTED TO USE AN UNSUPPORTED FEATURE (Flip Player). I also attempted to play the files on Quicktime, but I get this error message: QuickTime Player can't open "XXXXX.wmv". I tried VLC also, but unfortunately did not work.

Sep 11, 2014iTunes freezing up a lot, can't add files/play media.Try to update to latest version, then App Store opens very slowly and just stays at blank gray screen. Both require force quit. I have read instructions by Linc in other discussions, and I have already tried the following:
-Logged in as Guest: Seems to work great.
-Logged in my profile in Safe Boot: Still have issues.
BTW, if I update iTunes under the "GUEST" login, will that update also show under my own profile?

Jul 1, 2014It is Macbook pro 13-inch with 4GB 1333MHz DDR3, OS X 10.9.4 (13E28), bought in late 2011. Today I have some DVD and CD of my coursebook and want to play it on my Macbook pro, but I could not even insert it into the drive first. Then I go to System Preference and click on CD&DVD Player. It was inserted, and it spinned and rejected. I wonder what happened? Is it OS update issue? Or Hardware issue?
PS: It was once dropped from a learning table in my class. I am curious if that is the reason I cannot play CD or DVD

Sep 5, 2014Long ago, last year to be exact, I had a Macbook Pro 2009, with Open Office and MS Office older versions installed. They played embedded videos in both Impress and Powerpoint PERFECTLY.
This year I bought a Macbook Air and installed Open Office 4.1.0 and MS Office 2011. Now I cannot play any of the videos in these presentations.
I attempted to make new presentations and re-embed the videos. They play in Powerpoint fine ONCE, then not again. They do not embed at all in Open Office. The videos are all MP4 files.
This does not appear to be either a Microsoft or Open Office issue. To me this is clearly because of my upgrades. This is extremely frustrating, as I am a college professor and need to be able to use these programs without a problem. I also use presentations in my creative work.

May 31, 2009I can't seem to find a way to play .ts files under OS X. I tried Apple's DVD Player, QT, and VLC and none of them would play it. DVD player and qt would tell me that .ts is not a video file and VLC would load it into its playlist, but nothing happens after that. I know the video files are good as I can play them under Windows using VLC and MPC.
