I've tried running some basic undelete/recovery programs on it, but they don't go back very far.
I'm looking for the most powerful tool for this job out there (Mac or Windows software will do).

Aug 21, 2014We've upgraded to Mavericks and Abobe CC in one time, so I'm not sure this is a Mavericks or an Indesign problem..Switching between 2 programs is very very slow now.f.ex copying text between Word and Indesign takes several seconds - if I copy too soon, I still have the previous text loaded.
Also opening several Indesign files, and switching between them is a problem: it takes time to preview correctly, text "dissapearing" for a few seconds, or only re-appearing when toggling between views..I work on a iMac mid 2011, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8 GB memory. how I can get the same spead back as before?

Jun 27, 2014I tried to open iPages after upgrading to Mavericks. I was given a report that the current software could not be opened and to contact the developer. I have tried to download the new version from App Store. It won't do that since I have up to date software according to their record of purchase. I have now deleted and emptied the trash containing these old programs. Now I still can't download new versions.

Mar 25, 2010I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?

Dec 3, 2014I am running OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 on an iMac 27" mid 2011. If I run OS X Recovery on my system just to wipe everything clean and start fresh. Will I also loose all my other Apps and installed software like MS Office, Adobe CS6, etc. etc.? If so, how can I do a system recovery without losing all my current apps or programs. I don't have any of the original disks.

Jun 3, 2014Why does the red button in windows' top left corner have different functionality in different programs? For instance in Messages, it closes the window but leaves the program running. In Reminders, however, it closes the window and the program and the same happens, for instance, in Disk Utility.
I am surprised that OS X-specific programs behave differently like this.

Aug 30, 2014We have 4 Macs in the office and a bank of 4 printers all of which have been working great and connecting together for a while with no issues. However in the last few days the iMac can't find 2 of the printers. We tried to reload them through Print and Scan preferences but they didn't appear in the preferences. Checked all the cabling and hub and everything seems OK. Booted the iMac in Safe Mode and it could see them both straight away, rebooted the iMac and again they did not appear in the list, Tried to share one of the printers from a MacPro and it appeared in the list however sometimes it just won't print to it, it seems to print but nothing appears at the printer. Since then we have reinstalled Mavericks, Verified and Repaired Permissions, Verified the HD, reset the PRAM, all to no avail.
Apart from that the iMac prints to the other printers on the network without any problem and connects to the other Macs with no problems as well. We're using 10.9.4 on a 2.7GHz iMac with 8GB of memory. The other Macs can all see and print to all the printers. We are using a wired ethernet connection, not wireless.

Jul 1, 2014I am running Mavericks 10.9.3 on my iMac and recently had to have the Genius Bar completely reset my system due to issues with performance since the upgrade. I was primarily using Backblaze to back up my entire operating system. I am now trying to restore "Mailboxes on My Mac"in Mail. I was able to get the actual names of mailboxes back via going to my library in the back up and moving all folders to my current library, however it only restored the mailboxes themselves. There are no emails that were but should have been included.

Sep 10, 2014Recently I appear to have lost my external hard drive for my mac, where I kept my backups of my entire computer. In trying to find when I lost it, I'm trying to figure out when the last time I plugged it into my computer was - although my computer says that it's been 147 days or so since my last backup, I know I plugged the hard drive in since then (it just never fully backed up.)
Is there any place on the computer that has a date-by-date history of all the drives accessed/plugged into the computer? There is a risk that my identity has been stolen, if indeed I lost the hard drive long enough ago that someone has their hands on it and the sensitive backups inside it.

Mac Pro :: Unable To Find A Way To Download Mavericks To Do Fresh Install
Dec 1, 2014I have a MacPro 2009 with OS X 10.9.5 installed. I just added a PCI-e card with a SSD on it. Can I install a fresh copy of OS X 10.9.5 on the SSD and use it as a boot drive too? I plan on using my MacPro for audio production and the requirements are quite stringent to be able to provide good performance. So, my hope is that I can boot to my existing HD while using Office, Safari, etc but when I want to use it for audio production be able to boot to the SSD and have nothing on it except my audio software (Cubase, Wavelab, & associated plug-ins) on the working system. I also plan on upgrading to Yosemite for my "regular" HD boot drive but leaving Mavericks on the SSD for the time being as the audio production software is not yet compatible with Yosemite.
I don't want to just move from my existing HD to the new SSD as I don't want all the associated software to be copied over as well. Just a clean install of Mavericks on the extra internal SSD. There is nothing on the SSD at this time. Only initialized. I believe I can use a keyboard short-cut on boot to tell which drive to boot from but I have not been able to find a way to download Mavericks to do a fresh install of it on the new SSD.
