Is it possible to keep a folder from a network as a favorite in the Finder Sidebar, even after the networked computer has been restarted? In the course of the week, the folders I place in my favorites remain (we keep our computers on all week), but we shut down on the weekends, so come Monday morning, all of the networked folders are absent from the sidebar. I'm attempting a work-around by creating folders in my user/Home that then have aliases of the respective folders, then placing that in the sidebar, but I'd love to avoid this work-around.Â
I'm on a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac, but the computer I'm trying to remain linked/favorited to is a 2.8 GHz Quad Core tower (both running Yosemite).

I upgraded my MacBook Pro quad core 2.5 from Lion to Mavericks. Since then I get a LOT of beachballs when I'm using Finder. I repaired permissions, deleted com.apple.finder.plist (twice) and finally reinstalled Mavericks over the first one. Still painfully slow and lots of beachballs.

I have gotten tired of having to drag files to the trash, instead is there a way i can send it to the trash without having to drag it?
After searching a lot i found i could do it if i held cmd + backspace, but that requires two hands and means i have to take my right hand of the mouse, instead can't i just use the delete key instead of cmd+backspace?
I downloaded this application for my iPhone which installed itself into my applications folder. Soon after I downloaded it I decided I didn't really want it and tried to delete it, but it kept on saying "Unable to delete" cause it was in use or something. I did look at some threads giving advice on this subject and tried some other ways of deleting it but nothing happened and the file name is now "deleteme.rtf.app". Whenever I try Terminal it says there isn't a file on the desktop and I've made 100% sure all the letters are the right spaces apart etc, so now I'm stuck.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the Finder window you can create Favorites - folders you want easy access to. Now I'm ready to delete a few of these "Favorites". The Finder doesn't seem to want me to. It seems to want to trash the actual folders that these finder favorite aliases are pointing to. How do I delete a Finder Favorite?

all About 20mins ago a shortcut appeared in my Finder sidebar, for something called Untitled CD. Instead of having an eject button next to it, like an actual cd would have, this has a black and yellow wheel next to it. This is of particular annoyance to me, as i am now unable to burn any CD's. Instead a message pops up saying burn is currently in use by another program. I have tried everything to delete it, but it just wont go! Whats more interesting is that I have a macbook air, and the icon appears even when my external dvd drive isn't plugged in.

I have tried go to Preferences-->Sidebar in Finder and deselect everything but the folder remains in my sidebar. I am unable to select/highlight the folder in Sidebar. I have tried to drag the folder into the trash or to my desktop, but nothing happened. I just remains in Sidebar. I have also tried to locate the folder anywhere on my computer/HD, but it's nowhere to be found.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly Finder keeps asking me to input my password whenever I delete a file to the trash. Emptying the trash is fine, though.I thought maybe I had clicked an option in Onyx that caused this, but having looked several times, I can't see anything in Onyx that would cause this. I've tried repairing disk permissions using Disk Utility, with no effect.
