Feb 5, 2012A phantom folder with the name of a folder that held photos has appeared in my finders>places list. I can't choose it to delete it. It won't move. It can't be found in a search. How can I choose it and delete it?

May 21, 2009I'm connected via Airport to my company's wireless network. Last week I was able to connect to this network via my Macbook. Went home this weekend, come back and now I can connect and browse the internet, but I can't view the "Shared" folder with other people's public folders and shared files. Any idea what may be wrong?
I don't believe anything has changed, as over the weekend all I did was connect to two wireless networks at my house.
I have no idea what's causing this, and it's making it difficult to retrieve files I need for certain projects.

Apr 14, 2012I try to buy music in iTunes. I learned that I have not set correctly the rights on the shared folder in the Finder. I tried to correct the rights to read and write for all three user groups, it´s still not working.I figured that one of the three users is not correct:
1. system (me)
2. wheel
3. everyoneÂ
In my case, it´s not showing system, but it´s stating "loading" with a ?.I think I can´t buy music cause of the missing name in the shared folder, right?

Mar 26, 2012I have tried go to Preferences-->Sidebar in Finder and deselect everything but the folder remains in my sidebar. I am unable to select/highlight the folder in Sidebar. I have tried to drag the folder into the trash or to my desktop, but nothing happened. I just remains in Sidebar. I have also tried to locate the folder anywhere on my computer/HD, but it's nowhere to be found.

I figured no biggie, when I got away from the head office they'd go away. But they didn't. And I can't figure out how to get rid of them.See attached photo.

Oct 17, 2009I was with the messenger Adium on, when I left, then I came back and the keyboard was blocked, the sentences wouldn't come up when I tried to type so I decided to reboot the laptop. when it restarted the grey screen showed up as usual but instead of appearing the apple and then the desktop, there was a folder with a question mark in it instead. I put my ear on the keyboard because I could hear there was a lot of noise coming from inside which makes me think it's not something related with the software or weird downloads' stuff.

Jan 15, 2009how can I get my shared title back under finder on the right side. I deleted it by accident. It is supposed to be right under Devices and Above Places. Jun 6, 2014I'm running Mavericks on my late 2013 MacBook Pro. When I try to access a shared computer on my network, the Finder window closes as soon as I click on the computer I want to access. File sharing is turned on on the target computers, both iMacs, one is running Mavericks and the other is running Mountain Lion. The iMacs can access the MacBook Pro and each other without a problem. Firewall is not on on the iMac. Is there a setting I am missing

Mar 19, 2012My MacBook pro (snow leopard) has had a major issue and the screen boots up with big colour blocks on it. Rendering it useless.
I've plugged another MacBook in via FireWire and it can see my shared folders. So it looks like its booting up and hard drive may be okay.Â
However I have vital files in my desktop and desktop is not shared, so i don't have permission.
Us there anyway to get to these files sobi can back them up before I hand the laptop over to Apple to be fixed. Basically I have some really important documents I badly need. It's my fault for not backing up

Jan 13, 2009I am having problem with my Mac Air. For some reason when I go to Finder, there is no list of Shared computers. However, when I open Finder on my MacBook Pro it shows all shared computers in the area. From my MacBook Pro I can see the shared Mac Air, but nothing in shared of Mac Air. All shared setting on on MacBook Pro. Plus there more shared computers on the network. I think something wrong with Mac Air settings.

Sep 8, 2009New user here, I'm showing "your-w92*******" I blanked out the rest, with a little monitor icon under "SHARED" in my finder? Any clue as to what it is and how I can get rid of it? If I right click I only get Open or Get Info as options. If I click Open I get "Connection Failed". If I click on Get Info it displays "PC Server" under kind. I did try to get my MBP to print in my PCs HP printer (unsucessfully) using cups. So I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I'd just like to delete it but don't know how.

Selecting "go" and "network" doesn't do anything. I checked in the system preferences and the name of the workgroup is correct. The other computers in the workgroup can see my shared folders, but I can no longer see anything shared.

Jan 2, 2009I am trying to find out how to change the way finder presents itself while it is looking at a shared computer, because it appears to be doing this incorrectly, or is messed up some how. If you look at the screen shot of the highlighted drives of this shared computer, you will notice there are multiple instances of drive J and I would like to remove the repeated link. Also some of the drives have names associated with them, while others do not. I cannot figure out why some take the name given to the drive under windows in the macs finder window and why some do not? To throw another odd question in, drive G is not labeled movies anywhere, but rather is a drive labeled TV Shows under windows. Rebooting does nothing, as this has been there for months, even after a restore.

Aug 3, 2009I just got an iMac. For the first few hours it was turned on, my MBP showed up in the iMac's Finder, and vice versa. However now, for the past two days, neither Mac has shown up in the others Finder. Connecting to afp://[their ip address] lets me see the public folders, but I still can't use the shared iTunes libraries, or share screens.
The same thing happened with the MBP and other Windows/Linux devices on the network, as well as my jailbroken iPod with Netatalk installed, but I just chalked that up to the klugey nature of mixed networking. Guess that wasn't the problem.
