Mar 6, 2012Does anyone know how to remove 360 Controller Driver Daemon from the Startup Items on an iMac? I downloaded this so I could use an Xbox 360 wireless controller for Onlive but since downloading this I get a conflicting driver error when I load up Onlive. I thought I'd deleted this from my mac but I can still see this sitting in System Information/ Software/ Startup Items but I can't remove from here. It does not display in my System Preferences to allow me to remove from the Startup Items?

Sep 22, 2010I had my hard drive partitioned via bootcamp to run windows vista. I use software at work that isn't supported by Mac (it is now, but our version is old and it costs 10k to upgrade yada yada yada). One night I was playing around with the time machine feature (had the macbook for three years now never touched it, wish i hadn't) and accidentally told the time machine to use the partition made by bootcamp for windows to back up my mac. Well this messed everything up. Now that partition is gone (windows) and that volume is now called time machine backups. I have used some threads in here to try and remove that and nothing seems to work (most of the threads are from 2007 to 2008).
What I need help with is removing that time machine volume so that I can run bootcamp again to reinstall windows. When I attempt to run bootcamp right now it says "This startup disk is not supported." When I restart and hold option only the mac hd is available to choose. I also use(d) VMware Fusion to run Windows.

Mar 7, 2009My own account login items list in my systems preferences window is limited to one item- an istat menus helper app. But my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder contains two items that I don't recognize and don't think have much to do with starting up the computer. One is a Qmaster folder and another is named RDUSB00A3Startup. Each folder contains a few items, including a unix executable file and a plist file. My mac hd/system/library/StartupItems folder is empty. Can anyone please advise on whether the items in my mac hd/library/StartupItems folder are necessary and if deleting them could affect my computer? I don't use Qmaster and have no idea what the RDUSB00A3Startup folder is for.

I used to be able to just right click on the program and select remove from dock but everything program I now right click on says "show in finder" with no other options to delete it. I've only just recently installed OS X 10.3.9 (I can't remember what I used to have on here as this was a new OS CD).

Jul 6, 2010I had some folders on an external HDD that I moved to the trash and then I moved around the folders on my external HDD and renamed some. Now the items that I moved to the Trash won't delete! They no longer have their normals icons and instead have the plain white piece of paper icon.
It seems the Trash can't delete them because it can't find the file's original file path. The items only reappear in my Trash when I connect the HDD but it's still really annoying.

Dec 30, 2007I don't know what happened but for some reason, I can no longer right click or remove any items from my Dock
I have Onyx installed which has an option to lock the dock, however that is off. I am certain that my dock isn't locked because I am able to move items around the dock, and also add new items
I don't know when this started but it may have been because I was changing the dock's appearance by replacing some of the pictures in the system files (frontline.png, separator.png etc.)
I've restarted my Macbook a couple of times and have also done killall Dock in the terminal but everytime, I still have these two problems
Also, when booting up my Macbook now, the dock takes much longer to load. Before, it would usually be one of the quicker things to bootup but now it is always the last (before Quicksilver was usually the last program to load for me)
I also used a Terminal command to add a "Recent Applications" stack by following instructions posted here:

I've since removed this Stack but the problem still occurs. Don't know whether or not this had an impact or not

I am having issues and permanent encounter in having my removed login items reappearing after reboot. I have very MANY of the same programs in 'open at Login accounts' eg: Messenger,Safari,Skype,Evernote,Dropbox,antivirus, but they are listed dozens of times. in this 'open at login' area.
Here's the steps I have taken:
1) Open Applications, Account Preferences, cluck my administrator acc, select program to delete, click on - and wait.
2) Remove some login items (with or without unlocking the lock, doesn't seem make a difference, tried both)
3) Login items are now fewer
4) Reboot
5) voila, the removed login items are still loaded and displayed in login item tab.
