I have Firefox installed on my administrator account. I added a second account for another user and Firefox is not in the Dock or Application folder. I don't want to install it twice, how do I make it available to other users on the same computer?

Is there any way to set up Lion so that application windows are individually selectable, and do not trigger the display of all windows for a given application? As a default, when I am working with two word documents open and I select a Firefox window, then return to my primary Word document, the secondary word document appears and covers the Firefox window that I'm working with. I'd like to have the secondary word document stay behind the Firefox window until I need it. I know I could minimize the secondary word doc, but I have a tendancy to forget that minimized windows are open.
I'm working on combining a lot of information from different sources to make a class outline, and I'd love to be able to individually select an application window without triggering the other windows that are open for that application. Is there a way to make this happen in Lion or with a third-party program?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWell I've noticed lately when sending out emails, I select one of my accounts that I use online(specifically craigslist) but when I get a reply, they are going to another inbox from my other(private) account. I don't want this account exposed, especially to the likes of craigslist as that's a big time spam magnet and for potential scammers. What's going on with the Mail application? I checked my settings and all my account information is correct. This has just started happening recently so it must have been an update or something? I checked my "sent" folder and it's showing as the mail has gone out through the right email account but I got a response showing it was sent to my private account.

I have problems sending mail to people (not everybody) since Google obliged me to change my password on my Google account (attempt breaking-in apparently).
It took me a long time to re-configure everything, I choose the "double" protection from Google (with sms), and my Mac asked me this morning to give several times my Apple ID password, for iMessage, Face Time, etc...)
Now it's not possible to send a mail to my office. It is when I send it via website of Google, NOT when I use "Mail" on my Mac.

The first batch of videos was copied to an external drive from a Windows PC with MacDrive installed. When I came back to my Mac, I plugged the external drive into my Mac and moved those files to my hard drive.The second batch was copied using Connect to Server command right from my Mac.The funny thing is Final Cut Pro cannot recognize the first batch of videos.So I took a look at the file permissions using Terminal. All of the videos in the first batch have a file permission of -rwxr-xr-x@ but the others have -rwxr-xr-x. I tried to do a chmod 755 on every video file, but the @ sign still wouldn't go away.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince about the 3rd day after I got my macbook pro the computer has been making cracking sounds when I open it. When it first started it just simply made one clicking sound when the hinge is halfway open. Now however, When it is open it makes cracking sounds that don't stop ( open 15 cracking sounds per open). Is this a serious issue that I need to address with my local (and very mean) genius or is this issue not going to continue to get progressively worse. If this does continue to get worse will the hinge crack open? what is this worst that could happen?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).

So I took an account photo when i recently installed leopard at the start up...when it's creating the account and all of that stuff...
I was messing around with Photo Booth, and clicked the account photo button, and it replaced the old one that i like with a new one...
How can i get my old one back? where was it located? I have made time machine backups, so maybe if i knew where the old photo is stored at, i could retrive it?

I bought this new MacBook Pro a month ago. When I try logging into my guest account, it froze. I had no other alternative but to get out of it by pressing the power button. Then I tried open a new user account to see if it also has the same problem. Unfortunately it did have the same problem - froze after I logged in. I had done a harddisk check, there seemed to be no problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe had a HDD fail on one of our office Mac laptops (a power pc G4). Apple repaired it and I restored all files etc from a backup. I was the administrator during the restore. Before I could get back, the user changed that account to a standard account and changed the name. Now there is no way to change the account back, because there is no admin to authenticate the change. Anything I can do? I am not an advanced computer/Mac person.

I clicked Get Info and changed the name from Helen Andersson to only Helen. and after that nothing is the same and i cant go back either that I know of. When I start the computer now everything that I had on my desktop and in my Itunes, Icalendar, addressbook, and Aperture are not there. I have found them (well at least what i had on my desktop and my itunes but not the other information), so they are still on the computer but I dont know how to get back to my normal user account.
When I check my System preferences Account I only have one account so its not like I made a new one and have two. But I can also see that the one I am using now that has nothing on it is made today.
So please if anyone can help me get my iMac to go back to the old user and all its settings the same way I would very much appreciate it. Because this user has nothing and I have to start everything from scratch even my internet settings I had to download again to be able to go on the internet. This user has nothing.

I end up with an Admin account and there is no way to convert this account into a Standard account. Facts: 10.7.4 - clean install on a current iMac i5 Freshly created account uses name of a deleted older account (my name)Repaired permissions several times (disk utility and "resetpassword utility" via terminal and safe boot)The older account had been relocated to a external disc for security reasons. I've been using an IMAP mail service in Mail on the family user account and I've now set it up on the work account. If I delete the IMAP account from Mail in the family user account, will this delete my mail off the IMAP server so I cannot access it on the wrok user account?

Issue: keys Cap lock, R and 4 do not work and Mac boots only in safe mode. Account is pw protected-my pw begins with R and have no guest a/c active. Do i need a new keyboard or is there a cheaper way?
