All of a sudden, Mail has begun rejecting my password for my Gmail Account. Yesterday the password was fine and had been fine for about 10 or 11 months, until tonight. This is the box I see when I try to get mail: Mail is rejecting every single password that I use. I'm 100% positive that I'm entering the correct password. Is it possible that Gmail is down or doing maintenance which is causing this problem?

I have been using apple mail for a while now, I have 4 accounts on it (2 gmail accounts, 2 psmail accounts). All of a sudden yesterday both psmail accounts stopped sending and receiving emails, and apple mail started asking for my password. I am able to sign in to both accounts online, AND I am able to send and recieve emails via my ipod touch. So it seems to be a problem just with the mail app.Â

After talking to Apple support a few times, the problem was escalated to a Specialist who suggested the following:
1) Change the "Check for Mail interval" from Every Minute to a longer interval (e.g. Every 5 minutes).Maybe I don't understand the way that iCloud IMAP works, but I thought only POP mail requires a specified interval for polling for new mail. The beauty of IMAP should be that all events and changes to Mail are reflected instantly to all devices.
2) Change your Mail pasword. I didn't want to do that because it would take a lot of work on the number of OS X and iOS devices that I own.

I have not been able to receive or send any mails from my mac or ipod touch. When I get onto the icloud. site I can see that my mails are coming through so it seems to be a port/server problem with mail settings.Â
Have tried every trick posted online - deleted old account and set it up again, changed port settings to 993 and reconfigured for imap.Â

Mail has been rejecting my wife's password. This started happening when we were still on Snow Leopard and had moved from mobile me to icloud. Someone said we needed to update to Lion to fix it. We upgraded to Lion yesterday but Mail still rejects her password. It says, " The smtp server (smtp.me.com) rejected password for user ________. Enter password again or cancel. She enters the password she uses to access ICloud but Mail still rejects it.Â

I have my yahoo email account set up in my mac Mail. Recently I keep getting this message saying that Yahoo.ca IMAP server "imap.mail.yahoo.com" rejected the password. My password is all correct and I checked "Remeber this password in my keychain" but it still doesn't work. This message keeps poping out everytime no matter whether Yahoo is trying to receive new emails or not.
I originally thought it was a probelm from Yahoo, and I had emailed them this problem, and they said they had solved this issue from their end even though I kept telling them my password is still not accepted. The strange thing is that I think I could still send and receive emails (although not sure if I am receiving all the emails since the message kept poping out and that my yahoo keeps on going processing mode and then in the end a triangle with exclamation mark just appeared)
Another strange thing is that I have another Yahoo account on my Mail, yet this one never had simialr problem like this before. It is alsways this particular account I have that is having this problem. I tried changing my password, logging in Yahoo from their website making sure the POP setting has checked. Still didn't solve my problem
I have tried going into my keychain to verify and repair my password from Keychain First Aid. But no problem was found.I have also tried deleting my account from Mai Preference and re-added back on, still doesn't work.The first time this problem had happened to this account, I ended up deleting it from Mail and added back on and it seemed to work, however this time nothing seems to be working.

Mail has worked flawlessly for me for several years. But this week, it stopped loading (retrieving) my messages from my .mac/me/iCloud service. For some reason, my .mac account in Mail is offline. When I try to take it back online, mail tells me that my password isn't being accepted. (But it works just fine if I go to my iCloud account and use it to log on and check my mail there. And it's no prob retrieving my mail on my iPhone, either.)
(I have several other e-mail accounts set up in Mail, and they work just fine. Only my .mac/me/iCloud account stopped working.) I've tried to change various settings in the preferences for the account, but it's been to no avail. Every now and then, like just now, when I opened up mail I get a message, : Enter the password for Account MobileMe. The mobile me IMAP server 'mail.me.com rejected the password for user '______' Enter your password again or cancel. Mail normally comes up automatically as the password is stored. But I enter my correct password again and it still rejects it. This has happened before and usually self corrects in a day or so, but still is seriously annoying. My wife's MacBook Pro did this a couple days ago and still wont work. She has a MacBook Pro, I have a MacBook. They both run Snow Leopard and we both switched over to ICloud a while back.

(I keep forgetting passwords, and hate resetting them). how to find my password for the first gmail account (Finder>Utilities>Keychain>imap.gmail.com>enter email account name>select 'show password'>enter Mac user password). I was hoping that I could just change the first account name to the second under the imap.gmail.com entry, but when I do this, the password shown continues to be that of the first account, not the second.Â

I just configured my Gmail IMAP account in Mail.app. In the Settings > Labels section of Gmail, I unselected the "All Mail" label. In Mail.app, I chose the Gmail > Trash mailbox and then "Use this mailbox for Trash" from the Mailbox menu, and did the same for Spam and Drafts.
Now there are no mailboxes listed in the Gmail mailbox, but it still appears there at the top of the mailbox list with a little triangle next to it. When I click on the triangle to expand, there's nothing in there - but the mailbox won't go away. It's an off-white color whereas all the other mailboxes are the standard bluish color.
Well I've noticed lately when sending out emails, I select one of my accounts that I use online(specifically craigslist) but when I get a reply, they are going to another inbox from my other(private) account. I don't want this account exposed, especially to the likes of craigslist as that's a big time spam magnet and for potential scammers. What's going on with the Mail application? I checked my settings and all my account information is correct. This has just started happening recently so it must have been an update or something? I checked my "sent" folder and it's showing as the mail has gone out through the right email account but I got a response showing it was sent to my private account.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac running Snow Leopard and I am trying to add my gmail account to the mail app and im entering the right password and username and I keep getting- "Logging in to the Gmail IMAP server [URL] failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn't correct, you cannot receive messages." And my mail wont sync or anything. I tried with both imap and pop and neither work. In my gmail setting I have both pop and imap turned on so I dont get why im having a problem. My gmail account that I used to have on my account before I upgraded to snow leopard still works and my mobile me account works but I cant add any new gmail accounts. I've tried adding a few different gmail accounts and none will work.

I am having a problem adding one of my university managed Gmail accounts to Mail 7.3 on my Macbook Pro. I have two that I use regularly, @oakland.edu and @albion.edu, and I was able to sync @oakland.edu with no issues. However, Mail will not recognize the @albion.edu gmail account and gives this message:
I have tried to override and trust the certificate and that didn't work. I also tried adding the incoming/outgoing IMAP servers manually and that didn't work. IMAP is enabled in the @albion.edu acount. It added to Mail on my iPhone 4S with no problems, so I don't know what else to do.

I've added my standard Gmail account to the Mail app on my macbook air 2013 but i also have a school email from Google that I would like to add as well. This email uses a custom domain name so instead of [URL]... it would be [URL].... I've tried to add it in as a google account and as 'other' but i can't seem to make it work. Â

When I send 1 email to 1 recipient from my gmail account on mac mail, the mail activity monitor on the bottom left indicates that I am sending 2, 3 or as many as 5 emails. It takes a long time to send when this happens. It only happens when I send from the gmail account and never from my other accounts. I have no "extra" mail in my sent folder. Is someone else sending email from my computer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a hotmail account and about a month ago apple mail deleted all my messages from the hotmail account, therefore I am unable to access any of them from anywhere else except my mac.
I learned that that was due to me leaving the box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message." Now I fixed that and moved to gmail, as I was able to upload all hotmail messages to my gmail account through tuhunderbird.
Since I am not a big fan of Thunderbird as it is giving me some password issues, today I set up the gmail imap (I think) accunt on my apple mail, but there is no box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" for gmail in prefrences, just for hotmail.
Now I am scared, will apple mail delete all my messages from the gmail server, and if it will, how do I prevent it from doing so?
Mail will NOT let me select IMAP and will go to POP automatically for my gmail acct. I have the POP disabled in gmail and IMAP enabled. Why is this so difficult Is there a way to have the option to select the type of account I want as it is not giving me one like it is supposed to.
