I just finished an install of Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro (2008). Everything works fine, as of now, except that the DVD will not eject cd/dvd. An error displays when ejecting form the sub-menu and the eject key registers the eject graphic on screen but nothing happens. Any one else have this problem? Any solutions?

I have a 2010 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 i5 that I am trying to install Windows 7 on using BootCamp. I have installed a partition using BootCamp of 45GB but once it prompts me to insert the Windows disk, I insert it but after a few seconds the machine ejects the disk without ever mounting or seemingly recognizing the disk.
I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from a disk.
Can anyone offer any insight or help me figure out what the problem is? I have already tried rebooting and that doesn't work.
I don't know why but it keeps ejecting it on boot.It installed fine on my Macbook Pro but Mac Pro keeps ejecting itIs there a step I'm missing out on?This isn't bootcamped. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Windows Vista Home Premium using Boot Camp on my MacBook Pro 15". I partition the Mac HD and I gave myself plenty of space on the Windows partition (52 GB) because I want to install large games on it.
When it comes to installing Vista I insert the DVD and click 'start installation'. It looks like it's going to work for a few seconds then it says that it can't recognize the DVD and the disc just ejects itself.
I tried to partition the HD then restart and hold down the 'C' key to boot from the DVD. The same thing happened, the disc just ejects itself...
get Vista installed? Will I have the same problems trying to install XP because if not then I will just install that. I would prefer Vista because of the DX10 compatibility for Crysis.
I'm a bit frustrated here. My Macbook keeps spitting out my camera software, "Olympus Master 2" CD... It says it's Mac compatible on the CD and in the manual. But everytime I insert it inside of my Mac it spits it out!?

I own a macbook pro, mid 2009 and its superdrive was working fine till 3 days ago. Now, whenever I try to insert a CD or DVD, the drive doesn't read it at all and after 2'' it ejects it. I tried reseting SMC and PRAM with no luck. I also tried that "batmac" trick [hold the mac upside down] with no luck either except my neck is now damaged too..
So, two questions:
1)What could the damage be? It's not a lens thing since it doesn't even try to read the cddvd.
2)My warranty is no longer valid [expired 1 month ago..]. How much would it cost to replace it? I live in Greece and no Apple Store exists here yet. I must take it to my provider [authorized reseller], check it [don't know how much this is going to cost either] and have it replaced.
How do I get a disc to eject? I press the "eject" button but it won't come out....

All software uptodate. I have strange issue with USB ports. After ejecting USB drive (external HDD, powered by USB bus), which worked perfectly, USB port does not recognize anything, nor providing power. Turning MBP off and then booting back solves this issue.

I have a Seagate 500gb GoFlex external drive, which I'm using with Time Machine to backup my MacBook Pro. Now, when ever I eject the drive (by right clicking or dragging to trash) it appears to disconnect from my MacBook, but the drive itself continues running, i.e., the lights stay on and I can still here the fans / drive whirring away. This continues unless I pull the USB cable out. Is this normal? Should the drive completely shutdown upon ejecting? Or is simply 'ejecting' from the MacBook enough for 'safe' removal?

I created a movie in iMovie and now I am working in iDVD, I finished the project and have tried several times to burn it to a blank DVD. It goes through most of the process but right before it should be done burning it ejects the DVD. So I've tried putting it back in and it does the something all over again.Â

I have inserted a data DVV with 3 QT video files on it, roughly 1 GB each. It took a long time to mount, and then when trying to copy a QT file to the desktop it started but aborted giving an error message. Playing the the .mov file from the DVD itself was very slow and juddery.Â
Having given up I now can't even eject the DVD. Force quiting and restarting has resulted in the DVD not mounting. Launching Disk Utility juts gives me the dreaded rainbow wheel..Â

I put a blank dvd+r in today and used toast to burn some files to it. finished burning but the disk will not come out, have tried ejecting and it says its not there no more but has not came out, have also restarted and it see's the disk again and can be read but then if you eject it still does not come out, have tried cmd e, eject button, disk utility, any idea's or should i take it to apple to be fixed/swapped out, not sure which they do

I've seen several discussions on external drives randomly ejecting, but didn't see any concise resolution. I have a Western Digital Passport, P/N WD320ME-01 2209A, using the OEM USB (2.0 I think) cable (~12 inches long). My ~4 year old mac book is running OSX 10.7.3. I use this drive for Time Machine B/U. Seemed to work ok (no ejects) when Leopard was the OS, but, after going to Snow Leopard, and now Lion, I get 'disk improperly ejected' errors when trying to run TM, or ever Repair under Disk Utilities. I did get one good TM back up, under Lion, after reformating the drive [extended (journaled)], but the next time I tried to run TM I started getting the 'improperly ejected' errors. I own a new MBP (October 2008 model) and just two days ago my optical drive has started making weird noises whenever I bring my computer out of sleep. It makes a noise like it is ejecting a disk three times, about once a second for 3 seconds. This is really annoying, especially when I use my computer to take notes during lecture because everyone looks to see who is the douche bag with the noisy computer disrupting class. Any suggestions?

My Macbook Pro is Intel Core Duo 2GHz with 2GB Ram. It is currently running OSX 10.5.8. I tried the disc on other Macbook running 10.6.6 purchased 2-3 years ago and it work. View 5 Replies View RelatedThe Super Drive on my MBP seems to be completely busted, whenever I try to read a DVD or CD it takes the disc in, spins it around a couple of times and then ejects it again without ever coming up with any options as to what to do with the disc. Discs don't appear in Finder either. It's obviously failing to read the discs and ejecting them within 30 seconds.Â
Now I've searched for a solution and as a result I've reset the NVRAM to no avail, and also tried using a CD lens cleaner but that seemed to have no effect either, I guess maybe as it got ejected within just 30 seconds as every other disc does.Â
The next solution I've found online is to delete Finder's preference files. The files I'm supposed to delete are "com.apple.finder.plist" and com.apple.sidebars.plist", however neither of these files appear to exist on my computer. Â
I remember discovering the fault while my MBP was still in warranty but I rarely use the Super Drive so totally forgot about it and it's now out of warranty

Might sound like a simple question apart from the fact that i've been trying to eject the disc (for the last 10 mins) which I stupidly inserted (thinking it would work fine)... its spinning inside, quite loud (although doesn't sound nasty)its not showing up on the computer at all and I am unable to use the 'eject' button on the keyboard.

I eject my iPhone 10x as much as I eject something out of the SuperDrive. What I think they should do is have the eject key bring up a menu of all drives that can be ejected, along with an eject all option. It's a huge pain going to the Finder, ejecting my externals, then going to iTunes to eject the iPod and iPhone.

My system is

it's about six months old but gets a *lot* of use.
I notice that the superdrive will sometimes randomly eject a DVD drive after it has been inserted. Last week it took me up to 10 minutes to insert a DVD - I had to keep trying to reinsert it, then I finally rebooted a couple of times and it eventually worked. Sometimes when I bring my laptop back from sleep it ejects the DVD for no reason. I also notice that sometimes when playing a DVD, it will freeze up in full screen mode. I have to hit the power button and reboot as the laptop is completely frozen at this point - this has happened a couple of times in the past few weeks, I think it's related to the random ejects.
