I created a movie in iMovie and now I am working in iDVD, I finished the project and have tried several times to burn it to a blank DVD. It goes through most of the process but right before it should be done burning it ejects the DVD. So I've tried putting it back in and it does the something all over again.

My Apple Mac OS X 10.6.8 is ejecting SD disk and giving me an error message instead of downloading the images of the card. It also won't read a camera connect to the computer Via USB 2.0 Any answers? We shoot tethered to the laptop 100% of the time. We have an older Mac Pro that works fine but is not 2.0.

I own a new MBP (October 2008 model) and just two days ago my optical drive has started making weird noises whenever I bring my computer out of sleep. It makes a noise like it is ejecting a disk three times, about once a second for 3 seconds. This is really annoying, especially when I use my computer to take notes during lecture because everyone looks to see who is the douche bag with the noisy computer disrupting class. Any suggestions?

I've done all the tried and true stuff. I have restarted, I've restarted and held down the shift key, etc. The disc just won't eject. I haven a PM G5 dual core. Should I just shut the damn thing down, remove the drive and get the disc out that way?

One day I inserted a CD in my Mac, nothing popped up. So I went into my mac hardware list and clicked on "Disk Burning". I get the following message. "No disk burning device was found. If the device is external, make sure it's connected and turned on." I currently am using a mid-2007 Macbook Pro installed with OS X 10.6.8, It is an Intel Core Duo. I have run Disk Utility and it told me to insert the installation disk and run Disk Utility from there.
I have tried rebooting the computer while holding C and nothing happened. I think the computer can not see the CD Drive so therefore, it will not load the disk. Also, I have considered doing a complete wipe of the hard drive and reinstalling but I have programs (Adobe, Parallels, etc,) that I do not have the disks for. If I was forced to do a full re-install, how could I save these programs from being wiped out and then re-install them cleanly back?

I was trying to import a cd into my macbook pro this afternoon and it went in and clicked into place but then started making a huming sort of noise, but was you could hear it was not spinning, about 20 seconds later it ejected. I tried it multiple times and restarted my computer but nothing seemed to help. The disk drive isn't bent out of shape or anything and I've never had a problem with it until now.

Yesterday all of a sudden my drive stopped working. I inserted a music cd to copy its tracks to my ipod and nor did I get the cd recognised by my mac nor does it get ejected! I have the cd stuck in my mac! When I press the eject button on my keyboard I get the eject sign on my screen but no life from the drive.

My computger shows the flashing question mark in a folder icon upon booting just after the chime. I've been reading up all about it and am pretty clear about what actions I should take.
The very first direction that all instructions give me is to insert the Startup CD, shut down, and then restart holding down the 'C' key. The problem I'm encountering is that a little while after starting up, the computer ejects the CD, and then goes onto show the flashing question mark again. I'm pretty sure i'm inserting the correct CD as it does itself have the directions to hold down 'C' for booting from CD printed on it. I've tried the other CD which came with my MacBook too, but the same result.
I've booked a slot with a Genius on Tuesday, but does anyone have any suggestions as to why it would be ejecting the CD?
p.s I've also tried to boot in target disk mode, and although the attached PowerBook sees the harddrive in disk utility, the repair utilities are greyed out, and it doesn't see it in finder so can't access the contents.

I am trying to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard on my MacBook Pro. However, every time I insert the install disk, the machine whirs for a moment, and then ejects the disk with no error message. I tested my drive with a different dvd and it works just fine. All of my other software is up to date.

Might sound like a simple question apart from the fact that i've been trying to eject the disc (for the last 10 mins) which I stupidly inserted (thinking it would work fine)... its spinning inside, quite loud (although doesn't sound nasty)its not showing up on the computer at all and I am unable to use the 'eject' button on the keyboard.

I have a 1st generation macbook pro and I am running OSX 10.4.11. For some reason, every time i try to burn a disk or if I am watching high resolution video the computer will just crash and completely shut off. It only happens if I am doing one of these two things. Everything always seems to be fine when I turn it back on.

I have had my macbook for about 2.5 years. The past few weeks i have noticed some type of battery issue.
First I noticed that the led light on the charger was going back and forth between green and orange (charged and charging) (every 2-3 seconds).
I also noticed that on my top right part of my screen where battery life is shown it keeps going back in forth between (calculating....) and (Charged symbol: time).
Secondly, after about a week or so my battery started dying within 5-10 minutes after being unplugged.
Third, now my fan seems like it is always on high.
Is my battery just dead?

Unfortunately i was away from home for the last 3 months and i forgot to remove the battery from my macbook pro 2,2.
Now when i use the macbook pro it turns off suddendly when the battery is at 79% charge.... I tried to callibrate the battery and reset the SMC, but i see no change...
Is the battery dead? And even if it is shouldnt i get a warning or something before it goes dead?
Is there anything that i can do or should i start looking for a new battery? I must mentione that this happened also after upgrading to snow leopard.
I do not know if it has anything to do with it, but i remember when i upgraded to leopard i had my battery replaced under warranty cause the computer would turn off suddendly when the battery would each 30%...

What program can I use to do this?
I have Toast but can't see a way to do it without burning to disk.
I have not got any disks yet and I just want to convert the video files to DVD folder to be burned later when I get some disks.

I am trying to burn a music disk with iTunes. I am using CD-Rs. When I insert the blank disk, the computer recognizes it as a black disk and acts accordingly. Then, I click "Burn Disk" at the bottom of the iTunes window, and the burn process starts. Before iTunes begins to write the songs to the disk, it is automatically ejected and an error message appears. It reads:
"The attempt to burn a disk failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
And I am presented with "retry" "cancel" or "next."
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? It seems to be a hardware problem, at least according to the computer.
I am running the latest OS X with the most recent update to iTunes on a Macbook Pro 1st revision with 2 gigs RAM.

I've got a late '06 Macbook Pro, running OS 10.4.11, 2GB RAM, 2.16GHz processor. The battery recently died, but that's not a problem as I run it via the power adapter when at home.
Problem is, since the battery packed up, the computer itself is running slower than when the battery was installed. Is this usual?
It's a dualcore processor, and was previously fast enough to watch HD movies, but now HD movies are jerky, and the whole overall operating system seems noticeably more sluggish.

how to tell my macbook pro (tiger os x 10.4) to read my new Lacie external dvd/cd-burning drive in order to burn a dvd, rather than the current internal apple one (which came with the mac upon purchasing and recently went kaput)? btw, I CAN see this Lacie's name-path when I go into the apple-icon's "about this mac/more info". Then, I can see the lacie drive's name-path either by accessing the Hardware's option of "FireWire" or "Disc Burning".

I have a 2010 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 i5 that I am trying to install Windows 7 on using BootCamp. I have installed a partition using BootCamp of 45GB but once it prompts me to insert the Windows disk, I insert it but after a few seconds the machine ejects the disk without ever mounting or seemingly recognizing the disk.
I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from a disk.
Can anyone offer any insight or help me figure out what the problem is? I have already tried rebooting and that doesn't work.
