My TV works fine until I hook up my MBP. Great live stream picture, but we lose sound.
TV is a Panasonic widescreen, only 3 or 4 yrs old. MBP is not even 2 yrs. old. Using DVi to HDMI plug to HDMI cable to Router. We solved this in the past, but can't remember how we fixed it!

Yesterday I use my headphones to listen music from my mac. Today after I turn on my notebook I saw that my sound icon is grey and when I try to change the level of the sound nothing happens. When I put again my headphones the sound works.
I also saw that I have no option to choose Internal Speakers in Sound menu.

My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi use my MBP as my main computer here in college. i saw a good deal on these speakers and my friend has the exact same speakers that he uses with his pc so i know the sound quality is good. the thing is that is 5.1 surround sound and he needed to buy a sound card 'cause you cant just plug it into the headphone/speaker outlet on the computer. i want these speakers, but since since i cant hook up a sound card ( or possibly just not know that i can) am i better off just lookin for another set of speakers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI rely on a program called SoundOn! to stop the popping sound on my Macbook aluminium while using external speakers. But, I seem to have done something (slash OS X seems to have done something) which means that the application now opens in Script Editor rather than a standalone application. When I go to the Get Info window in Finder to change the default application I cannot simply set it as an application and get a choice between TextEdit, Automator and Script Editor. I don't want any of these. How do I go about resetting this so it will work?
Also, maybe if anyone has a Cocoa application for the same purpose of keep-alive for the sound card I'd be really greatful, as this application was made for 10.0.0-10.2.x and hasn't been updated since 2003.
There's an annoying chiming sound on my Macbook Pro that goes off sporadically when I have the volume turned up and I have no idea how to turn it off. I'd like to make it go away.

I recently bought a Macbook Pro and it starts worrying me that it makes a 'click' sound.
It's done it all the time but now I start worrying whether or not it's normal. It doesn't do it all the time. It comes now and then. It's not loud.
I've tried to record it and you can hear it by clicking here.
So my question is.....has anyone tried to dampen the sound of the hard drive from the inside? eg. putting some sort of cloth or tape on it. I can actually dampen the sound from the outside by covering the palm rest with my palm and pressing down. But I would like to get rid of the sound without doing this.
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy macbook has been making a noise lately! the noise it makes is the same noise (sound) it makes when you remove a program off the dock! the "Swoosh" sound...! why does it make that noise!? it ussually makes it every 30 minutes! it never made that noise b4 it just started a few days ago! after i installed adobe photoshop cs4! (which i finnally got by mail! >) anywho at first i thought it was deleting something but nope nothing! then today i did check the trash bin and i found 2 folders both were named "backup" one was named backup the other backup#1 i opened up the folders and i just found a flash file! yes i do have adobe flash cs as well, but i hardly use it so i am not sure if i some how put a setting that makes something get deleted...! is this a flash software setting? or a mac. setting that i have on? if so how can i make it stop? im not even removing a thing from my dock! there it goes again it made that noise just now! aghhh! oh and if it is a flash problem then why does it make that dock noise shouldn't it make a trash bin noise....?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo the internal microphone on my 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro just decided to stop working a few months ago. In the sound tab of system preferences I get nothing. Although when Skyping with it, the person I'm talking to says they can hear some kind of noise when I tap the left speaker (where I assume the mic is at.) I didn't use it all that much but it was pretty handy for when I needed to record a spontaneous song with my guitar. It had rather good quality.

My coworker has a Macbook Air he seldom uses, but when he does, the bottom row of keys stop working after the computer's been on for about 5 minutes. I just search and didn't find anything, but have any of you guys had that problem? Just curious if anyone's heard of a solution before he takes it down to Apple.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOX 10.4.11. Screen freezes when I stop working on computer. Usually can happen anywhere from 5 minutes to hours after I leave and come back. It doesnt happen when I'm working on computer and it doesnt seem to matter what programs I leave open. Ive tried zapping the pram...disabling the screensaver..I did an archive and install of the operating sysem (actually surprized myself by doing that one ) Ive run a disk utility and hardware check.. My computer is running a lot faster now, but it still has frozen up and needs to be restarted by holding down the button for a few seconds.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI spilled a bit of milk on my computer this morning and managed to move fast enough to drain most of it. I turned the computer off, and on again, just to make sure that it was running. (I know now I shouldn't have...) I was able to log in, etc. My trackpad was going a bit wonkers, but it's done that before, so I wasn't worried. Turned it off, flipped it over, set it aside.
A number of hours later, I turned it on again, and now the keys from A-L (ASDFGHJKL) and T-O (TYUIO) aren't working. I require a password, so now I can't log in. I noticed also that some key types non-stop (in the password box) until I press delete, which stops the typing. I've taken off a number of keys and cleaned them, but even if I press the squishy thing underneath, the keys aforementioned don't type.
Can someone tell me what I can do, if anything, manually before I get an external keyboard? (I won't be going into Apple -- not interested in spending a few hundred+ for cleaning/fixing; my warranty's run itself out.)
And, as a side question: I'm not sure if my Bluetooth is on. What do I have to do to be able to connect a wireless keyboard? Or do I need to get one with a USB? Or, because I'm logged out, am I completely screwed?

Sometimes while using computer, the entire keyboard and trackpad suddenly go completely unresponsive and I can't do anything. The only button that works is the power button. It's so annoying because I have to do an emergency shutdown and I hate doing that. Is there any relief?
View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing a Feb 2011 Macbook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.4 It seems that every time i use my built-in iSight camera, then the next time i go to use it, it can not be found. This requires that I reset the PMU, which is kind of annoying. Then it works for a few weeks and the cycle of iSight begins again. Why does this happen? It seems pretty trivial to consistently recognize a camera which is wired into my computer. Is there something I could do to prevent this from happening again? I have tried turning it on and off again. And currently, this article is linking to the reset instructions for Intel iMac instead of the Macbook Pro page...

After only my safari didn't work anymore now i've got internet again because of firefox but now all the apple programs such as iphoto, ibooth, itunes and pages etc. stopped working! When i try to open them i get the message 'the program quit unexpectedly' (translated from dutch) I think this is because i installed an older software version over a new one, but if this is the case, how do i fix it?
I if go to the apple sign and click there on software update that program shuts down too!
While watching today apple keynote. At the and i realized that my retina display is totally black. Mirror display through hdmi is ok, apple logo on back side of disply is not lighting.

Not sure why, but all of a sudden have no sound effects. When I go to System Preferences all the alert sound effect choices are grayed out. When press the volume buttons, can't adjust settings and there's a strike-out symbol underneath the bars.
