OS X :: Stable Way Of Emulating Os 9 In Snow Leopard?
Dec 29, 2010my parents are researchers and have been using Macs for many years now. They are dependent on a couple of Mac OS 9 programs and are therefore using G5s with Tiger.
The problem with using the G5s is that whenever they have classics programs open in tiger (all day), the CPU runs at 99% and the computers get extremely hot. My dad, who uses classics the most, is on his 4th or 5th G5 now in the last 4 years. It doesn't help that he always has 10 million windows open and never restarts his mac... I barely got him to start putting his mac to sleep
I know that my parents would benefit a lot from using Snow Leopard and getting the 2010 Mac Pros, so my question is if there's a reliable/stable way of emulating Mac Os 9 in Snow Leopard. I looked into this a couple of years ago, and although there were a couple of emulators, none of them seemed very stable.
If there are stable emulators, does anyone know if the CPU will still run at 99% when using classics programs? Are there any other options for running Classics apps that I might have missed?
Applications :: MacFuse 2.1.5 Beta Stable?
Jan 5, 2011I accidentally updated MacFuse from 2.0.3 to 2.1.5 beta (was checking if there was a new beta version, went to uncheck "Show Beta Version" and stupidly clicked "install" instead). I can't remember if 2.1.5 beta was a "safe" release of MacFuse. I was checking for updates as I am going to rebuild the Windows install on my MBP and am now worried that 2.1.5 might cause issues. Is 2.1.5 beta "stable"? If not, is it possible to downgrade back to 2.0.3? I've read in a few random posts around the internets that say its not a good idea to do this.If I uncheck the "Show Beta Version" box, MacFuse wants to "update" from 2.1.5 to 2.0.3. Guessing that would be a very bad idea?

Oct 26, 2009Windows 7 is stable if you aren't running it on shoddy hardware. OSX has just as much a chance to lock up if those are the circumstances.
I've never had Vista x64 nor Windowx 7 x64 lock up even once on my desktop because of a Microsoft-related issue. The only issues I've run into, which were resolved fairly quickly, involved nvidia's driver support.

I need it to be stable, configurable (manage speed, manage time, etc.) and working with sites as rapidshare, hotiso, etc. I have found Leech, Folx Pro, Speed Download, iGetter (any other better ones ?) Which one should I use?

Oct 16, 2010I have two 17" MacBook Pros.. One is running Leopard and the other is running Snow Leopard. On my Leopard computer, I have no trouble connecting to my company VPN and staying connected. This is using a Verizon Wireless AC595U modem AND/OR using an ethernet connection. On the one running Snow Leopard, I can stay connected with an ethernet cable - but not with the Verizon modem.
What could be the difference? I'm thinking it must have something to do with a new configuration of my new MacBook Pro. I'd really love to keep my old MBP as an emergency backup when the new one is being repaired by Apple. I'd rather not touch it unless I have to. As it stands, I need to use my old computer when traveling if I want to stay connected virtually...

Oct 9, 2008i've just bought my new mac pro, i'm very happy with it's performance, but there is 1 small little tiny problem, i've ordered my mac pro with wireless card, but my wireless connection is very slow , every web page i open it take minutes to open, before i had an imac, the wireless connenction was super fast, then i've sold it to my dad , but my new mac pro is very slow, mention that it's in the same room and in the same place my imac was.
i've check my bluetooth, i've send and receive some files with my bluetooth to my moblie, it was great, but when i copy files from my brothers computer it was slow and then it stucks , with my imac this never happens.i opened my mac pro to check the wireless card and i found this:-
antenna 1 was in the bluetooth card.
antenna 2 was in the upper wireless card.
antenna 3 was in the lower wireless card.
the weird thing i've found is that my speed connection it goes fast and then is goes slow then fast then slow, it's not stable, another weird thing is that my wireless speed is slow then when i press the wireless bars it goes fast then it returns slow again.this is a really lousy service from apple to make the wireless card as optional , it's really unfair i mean it is the most powerfull mac ever and wireless is not included one more question, is there a difference between the wireless card in the imac and in the mac pro?

When I open the disk icon it goes to folder called VIDEO_TS inside is a bunch of images and other stuff. But others will not open or will take minutes to open (yahoo.com, mail.google.com, wunderground.com). Bizare for sure. Set up static IP address to find this mac on my network. No settings have changed since this system was set up a few years ago. Other PCs on my network work fiine. Also rebooted DSL modem, and router.
