This mainly seems to be a display bug and has been happening since the upgrade to Snow Leopard on my 2008 white macbook.
It happens about 70% of the time I switch windows with expose.
Is anyone experiencing similar problems? I'm not having any of the other display issues such as in the other threads with the weird shadows or boxes or anything.
I've been trying to install the 10.5 version of Expose into 10.6 but I don't know enough about OSX to know how to make it work. I've tried installing the package from the 10.5 instal disks using Pacifist but I still the the 10.6 Expose behavior.
If people can get the 10.5, Base 2 Finder working in Snow Leopard it should be possible to get Expose working also.
I just got snow leopard and for some reason when i try to right click using the trackpad, it goes into expose mode. So trying to click right, besically brings up expose. Is anyone else experiencing this ?

Prior to Snow Leopard, you could use swipe up to see the desktop and then swipe down to come back to your previous window. Now you must swipe up again to go back to your original window. The up/down movement is ruined in Snow Leopard...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using one if the first gen Macbook Pro's and I seem to be experiencing major artefacting and ground just disappearing. I was thinking that it may have something to do with the fact that whenever I play a game(unless it's ancient) the fans rev up to 6000 rpm and the base of the computer becomes way too hot to touch. But I have also heard that it could be something to do with not having up to date drivers though I don't know how to check this or even where to download the correct ones. Oh and by the way, the games I tend to play are mostly games that have come out between about 2-6 years ago though I occasionally play a more recent one like Fallout 3(though for some reason it didn't appear to be so bad on this which I found weird considering I had to play it on the lowest settings in order for it to be at all playable)

It seems alot of people on here (me included) think that Snow Leopard has effectively ruined the functionality of expose with the new way it arranges windows. I barely use it now since it is much harder to find what I am looking for. For instance, my "downloads" menu from safari is now larger than some of the safari windows themselves! The question: Is there anyway, hacks or otherwise, to revert to the old style of expose?

View 4 Replies View Related... long time reader, first time poster!! So I'm doing it. I'm switching from PC to Mac. I've been waiting for a while now and the new MacBook Pro's have convinced me. I'm buying the 13 inch this week.
However I'm slightly worried about the upgrade to Snow Leopard in September.
My question is if I buy a new MacBook Pro this week and upgrade from the current version of Leopard to Snow Leopard will it be the EXACT same as the version of Snow Leopard that ships with new MacBooks after September?
Is the upgrade just the same as the full software version available post September? Does the upgrade it just detect if you have the previous software and installs as if it were the full? Or does it just "patch" things depending on what's different from previous versions?
I can wait till after Snow Leopard is released in September 09 if it is different to Leopard upgraded to Snow Leopard.

I have Snow Leopard installed as a partition on my Macbook Pro, which I installed via the install disk. I want to do the same thing for my iMac but I am unable due to (seemingly) my install disk is for a Macbook Pro and not for an iMac.

"Photoshop CS" and "Acrobat 6.0 Standard" suddenly stopped working in my iMac, apparently after I upgraded it to MacOS 10.6.8 (the latest version of Snow Leopard). Both programs had worked normally until that OS upgrade. Today I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard on my late 2009 Mac Mini. After completing the installation, I began running software update to bring everything up-to-date.While software update did find and install a number of updates (10.6.8v1.1 Combo update, Security Update 2012-002, Apple Software Installer Update, iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.3, Airport Utility, Java, Safari) it did not find an update for iTunes (which starts at version 9.x, I believe, in a SL clean install).I assumed that this was some sort of random glitch and manually downloaded and installed iTunes 10.6.3.After that, I re-installed iLife '11 (from a retail DVD, not the App Store).When I ran Software Update again, it found updates for Garage Band, iDVD, and iWeb, but it did not show the updates for iPhoto and iMovie.I found this to be unnerving, as I performed a clean install when I first obtained this Mini a few months ago and didn't experience any of these problems - all of my Apple software updated automatically through Software Update without a hitch.

I'm currently using a MBP 13 inch and am running Leopard on it.
I just bought a copy of snow leopard today but i don't know if I should do a direct upgrade from leopard to snow leopard, or wipe my MBP and do a fresh install so i have snow leopard on a clean slate.
Have any of you tried the second option before? Or do any of you have advice on which path I should take?
I have my drive partitioned between Tiger and Snow Leopard. I am trying to move myself over to Snow Leopard so I don't have to keep switching. The problem is that my old apps that alledgedly will work in SL, give me an error box when I launch them. It happens with Appleworks 6 and Quicken 2007. View 13 Replies View RelatediMac with 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, plenty of space available and currently operating 10.5.8. Now I want to upgrade to Snow Leopard and since my Mac Mini came with it, I attempted to use the OSX install disc from the Mini in the iMac. I don't see a reason why this shouldn't work. There's no DRM or anything as far as I know. I'm just trying to bridge the gap so I can download Lion. I've looked into some of the advice others have given on this subject but my computer doesn't have those issues. I've tried booting from disc but I get the same message.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Leopard since 2008 and everything has worked well. Now that I have to have at least Snow Leopard to run some apps, I'd like to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of? I'm assuming I will still be able to run all my apps and access my files.

So this evening I finally upgraded my MacBook (1.83GHz, first generation) to Leopard. (I am not a luddite, but rather just really behind the times.) I had previously been using OS X 10.4.11, and upgraded via a retail OS X 10.5.4 installation disk (legally acquired).
Everything seemed to go swimmingly.
But then I noticed that my F7 key, which previously controlled the Expose "All windows" function (indeed, it is labeled as such), has stopped functioning properly. It no longer controls the Expose "All windows" function. That function is now handled by the F9 key.
I have consulted Google, and have tried a number of potential fixes. I've tried to reassign the key function(s) via both the Keyboard & Mouse pane and the Expose & Spaces pane in the System Preferences. No dice.
I'm a new Mac owner (i know i can hear you grown lol) and sorry to ask such a boring question but I can't seem to get my Expose to work, i can get spaces to work just fine although not when using the nominated hot keys - it only works when i click on the icon in the dock. I can't see anything in this forum that really details every step of expose and I don't want to to play with that app too much in case i create an abomination that I don't know how to fix.

The control panel has options for what actions to take when these buttons are pressed, but Dashboard/Expose are not among the choices. Trying to assign a keystroke to the buttons doesn't work either because when I try, the keys activate Dashboard or Expose rather than capturing the key in USB Overdrive's keystroke window.

The ability to restrict it to certain apps and expand windows individually is great, but the windows are laid out much less efficiently over the screen. It's neater looking, I suppose, but the window contents are harder to see at a glance.
Does anyone know of a way to revert to old Expos� behavior?
You launch Expose... you see a bunch of windows. How do you quit them/exit them from there?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes (not always but easy enough to reproduce) when I minimize windows (especially MS Word) and then activate expose to see everything the minimized windows look like this. I've got a completely clean install (no migration assistant etc) of SL 10.6.2 on a 13inch MBP. It's not really a huge problem just curious if anyone else has experienced this? I'm hoping it might disappear in 10.6.3 but I'm sure that is a long shot
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a bit of an annoying problem on my macbook running OSx 10.5.7
Whenever I go to expose and click on the window I want to run, for a particular piece of software, it will 90% of the time not come to the front of my screen. Instead I get the window I was on before, I have to try again (quickly afterwards) to get the window I want up.
The only software it happens to is called Aptana Studio. It's quite irritating as I use this for work all the time, and have to flick between this and other programs regularly.
