I have a macbook and i hooked it up to my 37 inch HDTV. I did that with a HDMI to DVI cable and a DVI to Mini Display Port adapter. I plugged the HDMI into my tv and the DVI end into the DVI side of the adapter then the mini display port into my macbook.

Is there any way in FCPX to delay the audio playback to be in sync with an external monitor.
In FCP7 it was called "Frame delay".
I have no standalone audio delay available.
I´m cutting music videos and while the external video (BM Intensity Extreme via HDMI) is only delayed 2-3 frames, it is virtually useless...
I would like to run a Macbook Pro Retina (2014) with the lid closed and all video and audio via HDMI routed to an external monitor (Samsung Syncmaster from 2010). Is this possible? When I try this, no sound is transferred to the external monitor and I cannot operate the Macbook Pro with the lid closed. As soon as I close the lid, it cuts the signal to the external screen.  I’ve tried looking for previous posts but they’re about MCP’s connecting via Thunderbolt or DVI.

I have a 27" i7. I have a 24" DVI Montior hooked up to it via MDP->DVI adaptor. When the 24" Monitor is on, everything is fine. When I turn the monitor off, the magic mouse tracking on the 27" screen stutters. I am not kidding - it took me ages to figure out that to fix I either need to turn the other monitor on OR disconnect the MDP->DVI adaptor.

I have a G4 powerbook with an LCD that only displays the top 25% of the screen. I've been using an external monitor with it just fine. Today, I reinstalled the OS and ran into a problem. The main OSX startup menu (you know, where it asks for your location, timezone, personal info, etc) is prompting me for information, and I can't see the forms to fill them in! The external monitor defaults to "extended" as opposed to "mirrored", and the forms are embedded, meaning I can't drag them over to my external monitor. Obviously, if I can't fill out these forms and get to the desktop, the laptop is completely useless.
Does anyone know how to force the external monitor to be "mirrored" from startup? Is there a keycommand?
I have been using the latest macbook pro 13.3" since April 2010. Over the last week the monitor suddenly goes completely white and the external monitor goes black. The laptop becomes unresponsive although the programmes opened continue running (e.g a skype voice call would continue without interruption although the monitor is all white).
The only solution at the moment is to press the turn off button for a few seconds then switch the laptop on again. It will then work normally until for no apparent reason this happens again.
I picked up a new MacBook yesterday and I noticed a weird issue when coming out of "monitor sleep" mode, not regular sleep mode.
When I move the mouse, the external monitor shows what you see in the picture, kinda like a TV with no signal. The MacBook screen works fine so what I just do is unplug and re-plug in the DVI plug and everything is good again.
My 24 inch Dell monitor worked fine with my M1330 and other computers so I know it's not that. Does anyone have the same issue or maybe give me some light on this?
Is there a way to use my external monitor as my only monitor when connected to my mbp? Or, can i clone my display, but at separate resolutions? I am able to do this on windows with nvidia software, is there software that allows further customization?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.
Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.
I've hooked up my Macbook Pro 2009 to my external monitor and everything works. The issue is the mac image on the external monitor is cut off like I can't see the white top bar. Any solutions to fix this issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2008 Mac Pro, been running Lion since December. Until last week had no problems. There have been no changes made to the computer, no software added or removed. All of a sudden, when I turn the computer on, audio automatically goes to the speakers on my 24" Cinema Display. When I go into System Preferences I can easily switch it back to my speakers, but it defaults my speakers to full volume, and just to turn the volume down fills the entire house with the 'Apple volume change' sound, until I get it to a reasonable level. So while I have this backwards fix for it, I kind of resent that I have to do all that before I can even get to work on the computer. I tried deleting the plists in Macintosh HD < Library < Preferences < Audio, but when I restart they're back where they were and the audio's going straight to the display again.

I have a Macbook Pro 2.16 Core Duo, and I'm wanting to install 10.6, but about a year ago, I cracked my screen to the point that I cannot make anything out on it, and haven't replaced it. Instead, I have just been using it in clamshell mode, which has worked out fine so far. My problem is that I cannot get the 10.6 install to show up on my external monitor.
I searched around, and could only find one other similar thread that just ended with the author putting it in clamshell and having it work fine. When I boot to the install and close the screen, I just get a grey box on my external display with a black bar on either side of it. I can't seem to find any other resources, so I'm not entirely sure what to do at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ideally I'd like to use both the ACD for day to day audio output, then turn on the external amp while watching movies and playing music, being fed by the optical out.Is this possible, or will connecting the optical cable stop all sound from coming through the ACD?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 13" mid 2011 MacBook Air and a new ViewSonic VX2453 monitor. I used the Monoprice mini display port to HDMI converter with audio and connected the monitor to my computer's thunderbolt port. The video works perfectly, but the sound isn't working at all. I set my computer's sound output in settings to VX2453 series (type: HDMI), and I set my monitor's audio input to HDMI. Nothing. I also tried changing the frequency in Audio MIDI Setup, which someone recommended on amazon for the monoprice adapter, but that didn't work either.Â
I tested the monitor's sound by switching audio input instead to "audio in" and connected to my headphone jack, and that worked so the monitor's sound is fine.Â

Then I fiddled with both Soundflower and Audacity for some audio recording.
I have since then uninstalled both but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get audio coming out my external speakers again.
Everything is coming thru my imac speakers.
Apple>Sys Pref> Sound> give me no options to direct audio to external speakers.
I've got the older white macbook laptop. Just got delivered was my brand new Dell U2410 monitor (drool) and the adapter from apple that converts mini dvi to dvi-d. The monitor is sitting here and i plug it into my mac via the adapter using the dvi cable provided by Dell and the external monitor displays the default apple background and I can move my mouse around on the screen but that's it. How do I get it to work properly? Do I have to use a separate mouse/keyboard or can I use the macbook keyboad?

I obviously want to use the 24" display as my main screen (when connected to my 13" macbook) but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to use my MBP as a secondary iTunes, etc. screen. I typically use my macbook in "clamshell" mode with my 24" display and when I open the lid of the macbook, it's just black as if the computer was asleep but it fails to wake up when I press any buttons on the keyboard . When I unplug the mini display cable, the external monitor goes black and I'm reverted to using just my macbook. I know this can be done. Does anyone have any experience with the 24" Apple cinema display and MBP?
View 8 Replies View Related I have a mac mini (solo intel) 10.4 OSX. I have no audio output when attaching an external input source like a CD player or ipod to the input jack on my Mac Mini. Audio output from ITunes or movies clips in IPhoto works fine. I have checked the cables and connections. I have checked the "sound" location in System Preferences to make sure the "built in output" source is selected. The input volume display shows that the audio input is being registered. I have checked "system profiler" in the Utilities folder in Applications to make sure the "built in output" AKA headphone outlet is recognized.
I have the "Soundflower" App. installed but turned off.
why the audio output from the internal sources like ITunes and IPhoto music clips work but the audio output from an external input source does not? Is there some software or a driver required for audio output from an external source that is not required for audio output from an internal source?
I purchased an original iSight after having problems with my USB cam. I just did a clean install of Leopard on my mac pro. The USB cam would get errors in iChat such as "Camera in use by another application, etc).
I uninstalled the iChatUSBcam software, checked the Library/quicktime folder, etc.
I hooked up the iSight and it seemed to work, then the video went a bit haywire. I thought it was just a glitch, but when I tried to video chat, the other user could not hear my voice. I checked the System pref sound input and it was on the iSight, but the meter was not responding properly.
I thought it may be a hardware issue, so I tested the iSight on my mac mini (G4) - It worked perfectly.
I have uninstalled iChat and reinstalled it from the Leopard disk. Still no go...
After two days, I currently get a good video signal, but am not getting any audio when hooked up to any port on my mac pro, but it works perfectly on the mac mini, so I am still convinced that this is a some sort of driver of software conflict

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy iMac switches from internal audio output to external when I log in after computer wakes up from sleep mode. It also does it when I "shut down" under apple menu and physically turn on via the power button on back. My quick fix is to go under audio settings and manually switch audio output back to internal speakers. I don't understand why it's switching on it's own. Could another program be switching the audio output, maybe iTunes?

View 15 Replies View RelatedMacbook Pro last years model. I use external monitors alot for video DJing. I normally go DVI to VGA using the adaptor that came with the MBP. The other night I tried a different adaptor- DVI to composite. Now when I go back to the DVI to VGA my external screens have a yellow green tinge to them. I bought a new DVI to VGA adaptor and that didnt help. I calibrated the color profile, detected displays. and still the external screens are a yellow green color. You can still see whatever Im playing but there is definately something wrong with the color.
